I am very sad that you cant make it forge compatble so this will be my last word on the matter and be sad for the rest of my life bc of this desion :sad.gif:
It's not a close friend dying. You'll get over it.
I don't see why everybody's so upset about the move away from forge. I think it just made it harder to download in the first place.
For the people who don't know, one big reason FC removed the requirement for the forge is because he makes BTW for FUN. And coding with forge isn't fun for him. And why would you want another mod to go with this? It has practacly everything I could want in a mod. The only mods I could see being of REAL use with is BuildCraft and Redpower. Plus I think FC and SpaceToad are trying to do something with they're mods to make them compatible.
By the way, Flower Child, I really like the way your mod looks (though I have yet to use it because I was busy with school) but what is it compatible with now? I ask because if one of my top 5 mods is compatible with it, I might have a 3rd modded Minecraft.jar to have Better Than Wolves without Aether and IndustrialCraft.
I mean, if I could downgrade I would but I do not archive unmodded .jar's from previous versions. I have 1 minimally modded one at the most.
i have a problem with the mod i install the mod correctly and when i make or enter an world it says saving chunks then my minecraft crashes this is my second re-install so may you please halp me thank you
FC i think its a good thing you left the forge
all your reasons were logical and correct
and when i installed it on 1.00 again it brought back nostalgia of using a simple system again
just read Eloraam's Blog (part of it) and her thoughts on her own mod.
i got to say it's interesting. and i understand why you two don't mix.
you two are quite alike in one thing: modding from your own perspective. Elooram looked at other mods, saw some of the mess, and decided to make a single "supermod" where such interaction and automation was actually working and working together. you looked at what Minecraft needed most and implemented that.
and that is also the sore spot: Eloraam cares about a mod that, in essence, provides everything. you care about a mod that provides fun and challenge.
nothing wrong with either, after all both types of players are abundant. but i think it's indeed a gap that can't be closed.
My issue is that i keep mine caged (Cruel, I know) in my house.
However, i play survival, on hard, so when i go out at night for necessary bones, gun powder etc (Only zombie spawners near me, so no possible mob trap) if i get hit by anything, my wolves magically teleport out of their confinement and 'jump to my aid'
You're in luck. I've already changed that for the next release
Oh thank you, that was driving me nuts for months, but IIRC you said that to correct that you need to edit player class. I guess now that you don't support compatibility you can do that without much worry.
Exactly. I'll also be looking at moving my changes for animating the composite bow into that class as well, which may actually reduce some compatibility problems with some other mods.
You're in luck. I've already changed that for the next release :wink.gif:
Thanks for blaming screwing up the installation of the mod on me.
All I'm saying is that you need to make it so it has like a backup way to install the mod in case the first installation fails. Plus i did everything on the readme file so it sure as hell isn't my fault.

Have you tried deleting Minecraft and starting with a fresh install? Do you have other mods installed which may be incompatible with this one? Have you considered posting an error log (or your Modloader.txt) here so that others might actually be able to help you with your problem?
Given that there are tens of thousands of people successfully using this mod, that this is your fault seems to be the most likely cause for this, by far. It's certainly a far more probable cause than me somehow "****ing up your Minecraft" as you initially accused me of.

Lol. I love how its always the modder's fault that something doesn't work, it couldn't have been that he forgot to delete the META-INF folder (Yes, we've all done this at least once.). Anyway, great mod and keep up the good work.

On that note, what do i do with the forge file... that's what i think could be the problem but i'm not sure. Its just sitting there and i didn't know if im just supposed to leave it there or not.
I can't get this to work either. only mod i've veer used was the mine little pony one as a test. worked fine. Can't get anything more then a black screen. Followed instructions, no idea what i'm doing wrong. instructions still mention forge, but you stopped using it i thought? do i still need forge?
Oh derp, reread it, and says it messes with it. still can't seem to get it running, however

You don't need to do a thing with them. They're there because FlowerChild is required to include those files as per the agreement for Forge.
From the Forge thread:
You have the right to copy the forge, and to put it straight in your mods distribution. What the license requires you to do is to provide the sources of the forge that you're using. If you're not doing any modification, just pointing to this page is fine. If you do, you will need to publish your own modifications.

Common sense test initiating:
Do the directions in the readme say to remove that file or does the readme make no mention of it whatsoever and just say to grab the contents of that "MINECRAFT-JAR" folder and put that in the .jar?
This is one of the few readme files I've seen that even goes so far as to say "make sure minecraft is not running" at the beginning. You can't get any more clear than these installation instructions. I made it to step 8. Profit without a problem.
Next time ask for help and assume it is your fault before blaming the modder, note that I'm not the first one here to answer with a little tone of hostility. Take responsibility for your mess ups and you'll find help comes with a much more friendly reply.
