What about - Custom Items Textures (CIT) - Biome-specific mobs - overlays (cow + snow golem)
- renderPass
-better glass
-ctm support for iron bars,bed, potion stand
-CTM overlays
-custom lead
Staring at the sky??? With 0 chunks loading!?!?!?! Anybody's performance looks good that way......(*ugh*)
I wasn't bragging that I had 400+ fps, I was saying that it went from 112 FPS before installing optifine up to 400+ after it. Sorry you couldn't comprehend the difference.
Just saying it wont launch when i put it in my mods folder it just never launches i want to use it with all my other forge mods i dont wanna just play with vanilla mods with the optifine .jar i wanna play with my forge mods and i got the latest version of forge

You can't just throw it into the mods folder, it doesn't work that way unfortunately. Follow this guide, it's very easy to follow and it gets the job done.
Where he says to copy this:
{
"name": "net.optifine:optifine:1.6.2_HD_U_B4",
"serverreq": false
},
Replace the 1.6.2_HD_U_B4" with 1.6.2_HD_U_C4". or what ever version you are trying to use. I'm using Optifine 1.6.2 C4 Ultra with Forge version 9.10.1.871.

Well, you can just throw the OptiFine jar in the mods folder and it will work if Forge is #897 or newer.
I installed Optifine for Forge the way it said to and this is what happened:

Yea, I'm having the same problem as ghostfightr. I had a bunch of mod's installed using the latest minecraft forge. The 1.6.4 Ultra optifine C6. Dropped it in the mods folder as said on the installation, open up minecraft, hit play, and nothing. Nothing pop's up, not even a crash log. It's as if the play button just closes the minecraft launcher. Any fix's for this? Optifine made my minecraft run at god tier speeds.
hey thnx for the update!!! Forestry and buildcraft and etc works with it!!
but it seems like causing my cows's and others' head/body disappear xD
not a major problem but it might be causing one of the mods i have
i just placed the optifine inside of the mods folder.
both deafult and Sphax texture pack has same problem with animals
Does anybody know if Mekanism is going to play nice with Optifine at some point? I'm getting kind of annoyed that a single mod is preventing me from playing with friends on their server because I kind of need Optifine to keep the FPS from hitting 0 and making the game freeze.
I posted a link to a guide with information on how to make it work with current optifine and forge, Just go back a page or two.
And I followed it to the last detail including adding the java argument things. Even despite this when I turn Minecraft on it doesn't appear to notice that I have all the Optifine files installed leaving me with just the default vanilla options.

The JAR is the ZIP, just rename it if you need the ZIP extension.
