SP, those at MCPATCHER are already working on fixing the format for CTM to work with the up coming 1.5 format of textures. Any hopes of working with them to use the same methoods? Maybe join forces so we can have the best of both worlds in one and not have to pick between ctm and other effects + less lag vs ctm and more effects + normal/more lag?
Custom biome colors still don't work on birch or spruce foliage in swamp biomes. This is an old issue. Jungle and oak leaves are fine, and the texture pack verifiably displays properly with mcpatcher, and is not missing swampfoliagecolor.png, pinecolor.png, or birchcolor.png. If you would like screenshots as comparison, I can provide them.
Also, when switching texture packs (regardless of doing it ingame or back at the main menu,) lightmaps get screwed completely. This is a new issue. At first I thought it may have been an issue caused by an incompatibility with forge, but I made an instance without forge installed, and it still happened.
This is not how it usually looks. Only looks this way after changing texture packs. After restarting minecraft, it's back to normal, but restarting minecraft to change texture packs is pretty bogus.
Unless we hack your computer, we can't see the screenshot.

Let’s play good guys against bad guys… Yes. Let’s play that. Are you ready? You’re the bad guy. And when you’re bad, you just run. That’s fine right? Well… Shall we play?
In latest version of OptiFine (I'm using Forge) GUI interfaces (like ingame menu, settings etc.) sometimes flash\blink (buttons are disappears and immediately reappears).
I get this in single player, absolutely nothing within tiny render distance gets rendered ever unless I cause a chunk update or relog completely. This happens when I change any setting that affects chunk loading or rendering and the chunks reload but the chunks only load further away from you. It's not a performance problem (60+ fps while the problem persists), changing settings doesn't help any except for tiny render distance which renders the chunks very slowly but as soon as I change it it breaks again. I get that slowing down the chunk loading helps fps but this is ridiculous. Especially when chunks outside the tiny distance do get loaded quite fast.
Dang, so there isn't a solution to this at all? Or could there be?
here, top is with optifine, bottom without. I like the bottom better, why does it do that?
A lovely little bit of Optifine (and MCPatcher, which actually has better connected texture support) is its connected textures feature, which, among a lot of other things, allows texture pack makers to tell blocks which normally draw their textures from another block's (fences use planks' texture normally) to use custom textures.
May I ask what texture pack that is? It reminds me of Painterly.

Why is it that this happens with the clouds when I get to a certain level of height? Only happens when clouds are on fast and default, not fancy.
Note: This only happens when i have fog on.
And yes, this is only an Optifine bug as it's fine without it.
Many thanks for this awesome mod (that allowed me to sprint and use normal rendering in the same time!)
I have a suggestion/question : is it possible to change the settings of some sounds? For example turning off sounds of bats, cows, sheeps but keeping the monsters ones? That is a huge cause of lagg on my old laptop, I always have to turn the sounds off to be abble to farm.
You could try to delete the sound folders for those mobs, make sure to create backups of those folders I wont be held responsible if it jacks up your minecraft, to do this go into the "resources" folder in the ".minecraft" open the "sound3" folder then open the "mob" folder inside that, open the folder(s) of the mobs that you want to have no sound then delete the files you choose, REMEMBER make backups of those files Hope you found this helpful!
It says Updated to 1.4.7 but yet when I download it it says 1.4.6 and when i install it my game wither black-screens or crashes. :/
And yes, I have done MANY MANY MANY mods before and I've also installed Optifine many times before. Please up date it right man!
There is something about Optifine that involves chests becoming mostly invisible. I don't know why it does this, but it does. It has been doing it since I started using it with 1.3.2. It would take several reloads of the game to get rid of it, but it would pop up every once in a while. Now that I have updated to 1.4.2, it has gone far beyond that. Now all mobs are missing their right arm or front right leg as well as left (back) leg, sometimes along with their head. Also, certain object classes (pigs, brewing stands, endermen, whatever...) will have the entire terrain.png file pasted across their body, complete with moving lava/water squares. It flickers between that and the normal texture, and will sometimes disappear and reappear on a completely different type of object. It is not always the entire creature, however, as I recently saw a bunch of pigs with the two missing legs, and a pattern of multicolored squares on their front left leg. They then started flickering with the terrain.png texture. Mobs often have that happen to them, and while it is baffeling as to why it happens, I have found that it has nothing to do with the video settings, and everything to do with whether or not I am using Optifine. It faded away when I did a force update, acompanied by using the LWJGL libraries to fix the black screen, but once I enabled any other mod (modloader, forge, light detector, spawner gui...) it quickly came back, which was confusing, as it was originally happening without any mods being installed besides Optifine. I hope that you can figure out what it is and fix it. The game is just too slow without Optifine, and I need it for HD textures (I prefer not to use the patcher.)
I am also having this same problem. Mine happens to chests, bipeds and spiders more than anything else. I think I've narrowed it down to happening whenever optifine is installed. I also have the problem of things missing an opposing leg/arm and/or their head or body.
Using forge .506(or higher) with optifine b5 causes this error:
Exception in server tick loop

<edit> Forgot to add the crash appears when creating a new world or playing an existing one. Game works fine on other servers but your own tho.
I'm getting the exact same error as you. Tried also with B4 and again the same error.

Does anyone yet know how to resolve this issue?
You can try Chunk Loading -> Default.

Using Optifine HD U B5 and Minecraft 1.4.7.
Which texture pack causes this?
For example:
Vanilla -> TP xxx = Broken Lightmap or
TP xxx -> TP yyy = Broken Lightmap

The bug will most probably be fixed in the next version.

It is Wayukian Its my favorite pack

OptiFine is compatible with Forge #499.
Forge #506 seem to break some things.
OptiFine 1.4.6 works and is tested with Minecraft 1.4.7.

This is fixed in B6, a nasty little bug it was.
The minecraft.jar is not clean or some mod before OptiFine is conflicting with it.
Looks like a graphics card/driver problem.
