And I would say we need a special block for flowers because villagers don't know how to use bonemeal on grass. I think with how planting/harvesting works it would be far easier to just add another 'soil' block for flowers rather than have to write AI for villagers to be able to identify grass blocks and then use bonemeal on it. Also, if you want villagers to have a specific area for a flowerbed then some kind of identifier block is necessary so they don't go and use bonemeal on every spot of clear ground they find.
Why not just give them flowers instead of requesting code be added that lets them spawn flowers?
Obsidian blocks haven't done anything for... two (?) years now, yeah probably two years.

Nevermind, I take it back. After some more testing I have found something interesting. If a village generates with a farm that has the 'potatosoil' block I added, then all works well. The villagers will plant and harvest potatoes. However, if a potato farm is built after a village has generated, that is, it is either a core, secondary, or extra building, the 'potatosoil' block does not get placed and obviously no planting/harvesting happens.
I also did a test with 'melonsoil' and that produced nothing at all. It did not generate when the building with it spawned. I am assuming the same thing will happen with pumpkins, but I have not tried it.

This is a common problem since they often try to upgrade the Market before they build the Carver. Check the Wiki and make sure they have all the mats they need to build the Carver. For me it was some sandstone that they needed to start building the Carver house.
Once the Carver started working he suddenly stopped make more goldornaments (7/50 I think) . I re-loaded the world and then he started with the rest.
Re-loading world also helps for the "stuck on building Top-house" thingy
Not sure what the deal is, but lumberman is still not chopping down any trees. I have a Norman village and all he does is plant the saplings. They all grow to full trees and he never chops them down. If I go in and chop them down, he will rush in and take all the wood, then plant new saplings.

I am playing on a flat world and it is telling me I don't have nough space for my large Japanese house. I have no clue what to do. It's an overworld type flat world, there are at least 50 layers of ground beneath my feet, little ponds spawn in certain places, but I have filled all of those in. There is nothing but space, I don't know what the problem is.
I'm having a bit of a problem with this mod. Occasionally I get this error screen, and then I can't open the world, or it crashes with the same error screen.

I'm able to open the world when I uninstall the mod, but then everything unique to the mod is gone. Reinstalling it after entering the world again respawns the entities, and I can play again, but only for a limited time until I crash again.
Nevermind, I take it back. After some more testing I have found something interesting. If a village generates with a farm that has the 'potatosoil' block I added, then all works well. The villagers will plant and harvest potatoes. However, if a potato farm is built after a village has generated, that is, it is either a core, secondary, or extra building, the 'potatosoil' block does not get placed and obviously no planting/harvesting happens.
That seems odd. Are there farmers in your new buildings? The default potato goals are setup so that only the resident farmer will work on them (like Norman wheat farms) and not so that people from other houses will come and work in a shared field (like Indian or Japanese rice paddies). If you want the second it shouldn't be hard to create new goals for this, look at the the rice ones for examples.
I'll add your potatosoil line in the next update so it's part of the base mod.
And sorry, no support for pumpkins or melons. I added potatos despite not needing it because it was exactly the same logic as wheat or carrots. The other two would need new code.

I am playing on a flat world and it is telling me I don't have nough space for my large Japanese house. I have no clue what to do. It's an overworld type flat world, there are at least 50 layers of ground beneath my feet, little ponds spawn in certain places, but I have filled all of those in. There is nothing but space, I don't know what the problem is.

See that bit of yellow in the upper right corner? That showes an area where they can't build because of a unnatural block, like cobblestone. Take those out and it should fix the problem, unless the house is still too big.

I cleared that and they still aren't building. I even found a lava pit that was burried under ground and covered it. There is nothing else I can do about this?
This is a common problem since they often try to upgrade the Market before they build the Carver. Check the Wiki and make sure they have all the mats they need to build the Carver. For me it was some sandstone that they needed to start building the Carver house.
I'm having a bit of a problem with this mod. Occasionally I get this error screen, and then I can't open the world, or it crashes with the same error screen.

I'm able to open the world when I uninstall the mod, but then everything unique to the mod is gone. Reinstalling it after entering the world again respawns the entities, and I can play again, but only for a limited time until I crash again.
That seems odd. Are there farmers in your new buildings? The default potato goals are setup so that only the resident farmer will work on them (like Norman wheat farms) and not so that people from other houses will come and work in a shared field (like Indian or Japanese rice paddies). If you want the second it shouldn't be hard to create new goals for this, look at the the rice ones for examples.
I'll add your potatosoil line in the next update so it's part of the base mod.
And sorry, no support for pumpkins or melons. I added potatos despite not needing it because it was exactly the same logic as wheat or carrots. The other two would need new code.

I cleared that and they still aren't building. I even found a lava pit that was burried under ground and covered it. There is nothing else I can do about this?
Lava pit underground is not an issue.
The village is just naturally large it seems, edit the config file to allow more room for villages, see the FAQ for how.
This is a common problem since they often try to upgrade the Market before they build the Carver. Check the Wiki and make sure they have all the mats they need to build the Carver. For me it was some sandstone that they needed to start building the Carver house.
Once the Carver started working he suddenly stopped make more goldornaments (7/50 I think) . I re-loaded the world and then he started with the rest.
Re-loading world also helps for the "stuck on building Top-house" thingy

I actually got potatos working. Apparently Kinniken thought ahead when he coded how 'soils' work. All I had to do was add a custom 'potatosoil' block and the requisite harvesting and planting goals. Here is the line that I added:
potatosoil;-1;0;;64/128/100
I'm going to see what I can do about adding melons, pumpkins, red and yellow flowers now.
Wait for one to be built.
Or he coded it but forgot to add it to the list. Let me know if melons and pumpkins work too.

Nevermind, I take it back. After some more testing I have found something interesting. If a village generates with a farm that has the 'potatosoil' block I added, then all works well. The villagers will plant and harvest potatoes. However, if a potato farm is built after a village has generated, that is, it is either a core, secondary, or extra building, the 'potatosoil' block does not get placed and obviously no planting/harvesting happens.
I also did a test with 'melonsoil' and that produced nothing at all. It did not generate when the building with it spawned. I am assuming the same thing will happen with pumpkins, but I have not tried it.
So the suggestion you added should still stand.
This is a common problem since they often try to upgrade the Market before they build the Carver. Check the Wiki and make sure they have all the mats they need to build the Carver. For me it was some sandstone that they needed to start building the Carver house.
Once the Carver started working he suddenly stopped make more goldornaments (7/50 I think) . I re-loaded the world and then he started with the rest.
Re-loading world also helps for the "stuck on building Top-house" thingy

I'm able to open the world when I uninstall the mod, but then everything unique to the mod is gone. Reinstalling it after entering the world again respawns the entities, and I can play again, but only for a limited time until I crash again.
That seems odd. Are there farmers in your new buildings? The default potato goals are setup so that only the resident farmer will work on them (like Norman wheat farms) and not so that people from other houses will come and work in a shared field (like Indian or Japanese rice paddies). If you want the second it shouldn't be hard to create new goals for this, look at the the rice ones for examples.
I'll add your potatosoil line in the next update so it's part of the base mod.
And sorry, no support for pumpkins or melons. I added potatos despite not needing it because it was exactly the same logic as wheat or carrots. The other two would need new code.

See that bit of yellow in the upper right corner? That showes an area where they can't build because of a unnatural block, like cobblestone. Take those out and it should fix the problem, unless the house is still too big.
Also does anyone know how soon quartz block support will be added?
I cleared that and they still aren't building. I even found a lava pit that was burried under ground and covered it. There is nothing else I can do about this?

Lava pit underground is not an issue.
The village is just naturally large it seems, edit the config file to allow more room for villages, see the FAQ for how.
