All that goes into the .jar is forge . Use at least version .152 and only the files within the forge client folder are used.
Forget about the other versions unless you guys are devs or server operators.
Then extract Portal gun from the zip. Grab the new extracted folder called Portalgun it contains the class files and such. Install that into the mods folder.
Portalgun is one of the only mods that needs to get extracted from its zip before installing. This may be what is messing someup.
Only the extracted version of the this mod goes into the mods folder.

You and many others assume you have to know java to understand the error report. But if you take a second to actually read the text it might me a clue as to how to fix the problem.

Out of bounds means you assigned the block id to a number greater than the program was able to use.
Assign a number lower than 4095 and you should be fine.
Ok, so.... i forced and update for my minecraft files to clear mod loader, then reinstalled minecraft forge to the minecraft.jar//// Obviously something in the installation or in something i did is the issue....it still loads up with a black screen after i press login. I don't crash, so no error report, and MCerror is still "Starting Launcher...". Unfortunately I can't post my jar files, but can someone answer me this. When installing Minecraft forge, which of the three ZIP files are/is necessary for the portal mod? Just the client? or all three? I havent been able to see anyone explicitly state it, so if someone could, that would be great. I'll keep messing with it to see what i can do.
Edit: ok, so i closed the launcher and MCerror said that i installed minecraft mods with a version different than the one i was using. But now im confused. I assumed the mods and mod links for the portal mod and minecraft forge were the most updated versions. Maybe not? And since i already forced an update, I assume my minecraft version is the most updated, which i believe is still 1.2.5. I still have no clue, but perhaps this is where i can begin to attempt a fix.

Hey. I would love to use this mod but every time I install it my minecraft won't load. I have tried about 10 separate times from scratch and still nothing. I tried to install different mods (TooManyItems, Modloader, and Forge) and all of them worked but every time I try to install Portalgun it makes my minecraft freeze on the Mojang logo. Please help me I have a Macbook Pro Retina if that helps.

Yes. I extracted the folder, went into it, and took the portalgun folder to put in my mobs folder. This is the video I followed:

If you have done it properly it should be working. Are you running Forge 152 or better ? do not use modloader or modloaderMP with forge ever anymore.
