[1.7.10] nohero's mods: More Health Enchanted: Beta for Health Loss Issue 1/2/2016
Poll: Would you be fine with ONLY a forge-required More Health mod?

Poll: A Preference: More health hardcore mode?
Ended Nov 17, 2014
If you can get it Forge compatible and (I'm praying here, but it may be a stretch) TConstruct compatible I would be eternally grateful.
I sincerely miss my Zelda start of only three hearts and fearing for my life during the first few nights, especially with a few of the mob additions from other Mods.
Great mod, nohero.
However, there are new things in forge that most likely mean I can shift out of base class edits (Except drops for bosses, but that won't cause much compatibility issues).
First, there is a "maxhealth" variable for players. I need to look at it more closely so I can update my old code to work with this new one. I won't be moving out of the EntityPlayer class just yet, as that will take much more time. Once this update happens, I most likely will have to "reset" your heart progress again, because I need to save the variables in a different way. Luckily, it will cause the "update" health process to start, so it won't be a full reset, but just a reset to how many hearts you should have at your current exp.
Second, they have added support for GuiInGame: so I probably will be moving my base class edit of this class out, so it should help fix compatibility issues with GUI mods. I'll have to figure out how to move my code out of the base classes here (and will help me with my move with EntityPlayer later) so this update will take a bit more time that expected. But hopefully it helps with a lot of mod conflicts so it will be worth the wait.
That mod might not be able to see the health level correctly, can you try what I suggested so see if you have "more health" but it's just hidden from your gui? You said in singleplayer it works except for the hearts GUI, might be the same problem on multiplayer.
TConstruct compatibility will take awhile as it will require me to shift out of base mod edits. I'm getting there, but that process will take time. Updated mod soon!
Ah yeah, you need to zip the "add to minecraft.jar" folder right? I thought I said that in the installation tutorial, but I'll fix it for next version if I didn't.
The recent versions of forge added support for a "maxhealth" variable and GUI support, two things that mess with how I did it before. I'm currently figuring out how to deal with these on my update.
Great! So many different ways to setup a server, my guide really only works for vanilla minecraft server. If I have time I will expand my guide for SMP. If you would like too, can you make a guide for tekkit server so I can add it to the front page? (credits to you of course!)
It's an irony. nohero is my hero too.
OcD Simple Add-On!
Thanks everyone!
Ah yes, newer forge adds a new gui system so my gui edits are broken. I have yet to figure out how to use the new system. When I do of course it's a much better system, as it finally allows me to do what I have done without base class edits (hopefully!)
Same here!

He's working on the update and puzzling through some major changes in Forge.
Please, please read the first page of the thread. If that's too much information and TL;DR then imagine how mod authors feel being asked to take time away from coding to answer questions they spent the time to write the answers for.
so in the future he will make it work, but do i have to install 1.5.2 when this mod updates to it/ so the hardcore mode will work?
AFAIK it works on the 1.5.1 version that is available now in the download link. The option to turn it on is there.
Since my mod directly changes what minecraft directly coded, I was not able to convert to non-base edits for the gui ( I have to shift minecraft's OWN gui, and edit the hearts code to make it work). However, forge allowed me to do it-> it overrides how minecraft did it, and renders everything in it's own forge class. So what I had to do is CANCEL what forge did for health, armor, air. Thus, this means Minecraft DOES NOT render health, armor, air. Then, in my own class I render it there, WITH my modifications.
Thus, I have successfully moved my gui edits out of base classes. That should help with compatibility.
I also added a small nice feature. If you don't have armor, the bubbles appear right above food, instead of always statically appearing in the row right above armor. Thus, if you don't have armor there is not an annoying gap. Very minor, but still useful
So what about the update? I'm going to see if I can move out of EntityPlayer and also move my boss drops out of base classes (which
senpaisubaraki helped me with). If I can do it quickly enough, More Health will be COMPLETELY base class edit free.
Thanks for all the kind words! Love that you guys love the mod
Navigate to
.minecraft\config
Find this file:
nohero_moreHealth (name might be a bit different, find the most recent one with more health in the title)
It has all the options in it.
It should say:
"Hardcore Mode"=false
change the "false"
to true
That should turn it on.
Thanks for helping, although info is a bit of a mess on the first page. Need to clean it up a bit.
We all appreciate your hard work, feel with the frustration you must have had when MoJang's bugfix builds were breaking so many mods and many mod authors had to put in a lot of time and effort just to update their mod to work with the latest Minecraft version.
And I have to echo others' comments because you're one of my heroes. More Health Enhanced is an easy mod to take for granted once you use it a bit, you kind of think it's part of the vanilla game mechanics because it becomes so seamless and integral. Yet there are SO many other mods that your mod improves because you make survivability more than just getting better armor and weapons.
That's great to hear! Does this mean that More health won't cause any trouble with mods it used to share baseclasses with anymore?

Does this mean it will be easier to make the mod compatible with new Minecraft versions?

other people may be confused about the way you turn hardcore mode on, so in future updates, will you make it so you can edit the whole mod in-game, kinda like rei's minimap and a keyword to access the settings (rei's minmap is M)
thanks for the mod its great and its one of the best mods i have ever installed, and also please take a look about this suggestion im sure others want it too
