I take a 2 year vacation, come back to a totally new minecraft (1.7.2 holy wow that's a lot of update!). Ok.
I realize I forgot all my forum/mod site info.. I'm still ok.
I create new profiles across the board, only to come here and find Risu's ML dead?!?! Is there still a reason to own a computer?
Saddest day of my life. I mean that quite literally. Someone please tell me I've overlooked something.

No. I can testify that he is quite alive and well. The mods, however, are still effectively dead.

Farewell Modloader! Though I loved working with it and it pained me to switch to Forge, I had no choice. This was one of the greatest mods ever; without it, where would minecraft modding be? Thanks for all the blood sweat and tears you put into this project Risugami! “Farewell, and may the blessing of Elves and Men and all Free Folk go with you.
May the stars shine upon your faces!”
It is true that I mostly play Forge mod combos and little effort has been made to make these of Risugami forge compatible. The expansion of ids to 4095 for blocks and 32767 for items by Forge allows the making of much larger mod combos.
But I decided to update my Risugami combo to a modloader only combo for MC1.6.2 and look for other mods that were compatible.
I did run into one snag. The config file for one or more of the Risugami mods do not work, i.e. doesn't change the id assigned to the block. I only know for sure that it didn't work for the floodgate mod. But that was the first id conflict with this mod I tried to add, and since the changing the id in the config didn't work I had to leave that mod out. However, for all I know, if that one had worked I would have found a different conflict after that one was fixed, where changing the idea in the next config would not work.
We will have to agree to disagree on that point. Forge is monolithic enough to have issues running on certain computers. I have had issues getting it to run on a few that were able to run ModLoader quite well.

Have a mod with options? Mod Options API is the API for you. Let your users configure your mod options with ease.

Instead of using single-player mods with Modloader, now you use Forge, and load mods that are single player or multiplayer. There are also a lot more mods available for Forge than there were for Modloader.
Does Forge take a lot of computer resources? ... That I will say no on. Mods that use Forge may be big; forge itself doesn't seem to consume much of anything.
Does Forge step on a lot of class files? Yes. But it does so in order to eliminate the need for other mods to do so.
If you want a reason to play Minecraft? I go for Mystcraft.
(In regard to a mod that gives realistic animal genetics):
Would you really rather have bees that make diamonds and oil with magical genetic blocks?
... did I really ask that?
In the Biospheres mod, will biospheres generate with ocean biomes in them? And if so, does the ocean flow out the bottom where stone would usually be in normal land biomes, or does it have something blocking it, like glass at the bottom half of the sphere? Also, if oceans work, will sand/clay/dirt/gravel/etc generate at the bottom?

No, I'm afraid not :(. I feel your pain though, but I guess I will try out forge. Wanna play some Minecraft together?

I would also suggest looking at BlazeLoader (currently working on 1.7.2 as well). If anything BlazeLoader is the spiritual heir to ModLoader, or at least to note there is more than one API still out there.
Hopefully Mojang will finally get their act together with regards to the official API, so this whole API war will eventually subside and Risu's ModLoader can finally rest in peace.
I miss ModLoader, and sadly haven't even updated my mods in part because Risugami hasn't bothered updating ModLoader. I just haven't been inspired to do much of anything with Minecraft for that matter.
Is modloader finally over with?, Are some of the oldest mods in minecraft doom to never be again? Can you no longer play with the shelves mod, a mod that's been around since beta 1.3? Is it overwith, has a legacy been finally brought down by another powerful force. Is this giant task overwith. Nearly $5.000 dollars made on ad.fly alone, doomed to not make a sent more, has the champion of mods, the biggest modder alive, owner of the most downloaded mod for month after month given up, submitting his legacy, ending his rain. Has the owner of this mighty throne given up without a coup d'etat . Are we seeing the end of the most powerful minecraft modder alive.
The answer: Yes.
Thank you Risugami for making minecraft modding what it is, and what it has become, thank you for inspiring many to mod for minecraft. Thank you for all your hard work and effort. and thank you for not given up.
Hey Rig. I no you will never reply. But as ur retirement of your mc modding is ending. One request. Make ur mods Open source. That way people can still carry on the legendary mods you have made. Thanks For everything. Also if u do comeback. Player will be hype! Great Job on ur mods!

You need to install it with the old launcher. As i can see you used the new one but the mod was made for the old one.
There is an error with the put method. You can simply use the second suggestion of eclipse but i recommend you to use forge.
