I'm VERY excited to see you updated the generator!
you mentioned you may add in the customization options back in the near future, please do if you have the time to! i very much liked those options.
I don't mean to sound ignorant, but do you think that you can include a way for mod ores to generate, or include a way to create custom planets? A volcano planet or marble-cored planet would look amazing, and it would facilitate the use of this map for Tekkit players. I don't think it would be that hard, just have a folder called custom, and have people put custom worlds in .txt documents inside. It would work kind of like a mod loader, only instead of loading code, it would load three variables: Outer material, inner material, and probability. There would also be an option to disable some planetoids to be disabled. Ask me if you need any clarification.
Also, almost forgot to add this: If you implement the planet loader, you could put the variables of the default planetoids into the planetoids folder. This would not only clean up your code and make it easier for you to tweak the variables, but it would make it easier for people to disable some ores, for example, disable large iron deposits and make diamond insanely rare, so that PvP would be fairer and there would be a considerable challenge for players.

Map generators, such as this one - completely replace the area they generate. Normal minecraft generation algorythms only occur in ungenerated areas - you would need to travel outside of the area.

Update: April 26th, 2012 - fixed nether map placement and Mac compatiblity. I haven't tried it myself, but I've had other users confirm that you can make this run on a Mac now using Mono for OSX (http://www.mono-project.com/Mono:OSX)
Since many people have asked for it, here's an updated version of my Planetoids map generator, compatible with the latest (1.2.5):
For people who aren't familiar with it, this generator makes a map that's compoed of hundreds of little planets:
To use this generator:
1. Download the .exe file and run it
2. Enter a name to use for the world file
3. Wait unti it says "Map generation complete."
4. Find the folder in the same directory as the .exe with the same name you gave to the world, and move it to your levels folder (%appdata%\Roaming\.minecraft\saves) if you're running single player on Windows.
5. Run Minecraft and select the world
6. Play
Updates for V2 include:
* Compatible with Minecraft V 1.2.5
* Uses the full map height (256) - Now twice as much space for planets!
* No more ugly outer wall - the map is surrounded by a moat of open air too wide to see across.
* Now the nether has planets too! If you travel to the nether in a Planetoids map, it's made up of a different set of nether-specific planetoids.
For this initial V2 release I've turned off some of the options for varying map density. I'll add them back in later if people really want them.
Here's a couple of map images (normal and nether) of a 16x16 chunk map, for reference:
Normal Map:
Nether Map:
(Map images generated using MCMap)
Also, for anyone who still wants it, I'm leaving the original generator available for download from the links in the original topic here: http://www.minecraft...ds-v175-now-up/
(note, I don't think that one works with the current build of Minecraft at all)
pleas update i know its awesome and it alleays will be so UPDATE

1 wood relly like 1.4.6 bad gramma jk i can spell just being silly
Please, update Planetoids to 1.5 + bring back the modifyable features from it =D making the planets certain sizes, sizes apart, and all the rest <3 please, i love Planetoids so much, its the best ever Minecraft mods
Since the Planetoids world generator does not have to be placed in any jar of some sort, it just creates a world, it will work with all Minecraft versions (for now). So stop blabbering about updating it to 1.5.1 because it doesn't need to be. You just don't have the Nether Quartz ore in the Nether, that's all. Not too much to worry about.

What's this?
A forum woefully underpopulated by bees?
My signature full of bees 'oughta put a stop to that!
I wish this had some structure planets too. ( a villager one, where it's sorta like a bunch of houses fused together rather randomly) and of course, a stronghold. Some dungeons in the planets might be cool too.
And if it could be compatible with my technic pack so that it could generate spheres with modded ores inside. Oh well, still cool. But if it is possible in some way, please tell me. Thanks.

We want it updated so it has the newer blocks in it!

Hi, I'm Riicochet
I am finishing up a planetoids-based PvP map, and because you created planetoids, I thought I would check if it's okay with you before I release it.
