Where is the place I actually see/put the mods at. I have the launcher open, but where is that menu thing that lists the mods?
Anywhere except the mods folder.
I created a new folder, C:\Minecraft with 2 subdirectories
C:\Minecraft\Games
and
C:\Minecraft\Mods
In *\Games I add a folder with an entire version of each major MC release (ie 1.4.7.minecraftNoMods).
in *\Mods I add a folder containing all the zipped Mods I used with that version (ie MCInstalled 1.4.7).
Given these two folders I can recreate any version of MC and play worlds I made all the way back to 1.6.6.
HTH
Lou
I go a step further, I copy the *.minecraft.jar to my desktop and rename it as the version of MC it came from (ie minecraft1.4.7.jar or minecraft1.6.6.jar). I drag the new name to my MC\bin and add my mods to the new name with MagicLauncher. It sounds more difficult than it is,
Lou
My minecraft is 1.4.5 but I want to update to 1.4.7 and it doesn't let me update and the force update button is blacked out and I can't press it so how am I supposed to play 1.4.7?
i need help when i put mods in without forge minecraft runs but the mods dont when i put forge in it wont run please help. i need help. please respond. i need help . i need this amazing thing becouse the other way i ont understand.
There's a weird issue when using custom base folder on mac. When I try to select a folder, it tells me that it has to be in a directory ending in "Library/Application Support/minecraft" (which I understand why, it's where minecraft will look for it), but when I make these series of sub folders, it actually uses the directory "Library/Application Support/Library/Application Support/minecraft", which is inconsistent.
when i try to open magic launcher this pops up instead

I'm a little confused over this (Not that it takes that much to confuse me)
Looking through the log I see 2 different operating systems mentioned - XP and NT, which are you actually using ???
I also notice that 'jvm.dll' is mentioned quite a bit.... according to Google - this is part of JAVA
A few search results I've seen say it MIGHT be a corrupted JAVA installation, Fragmented registry problems, using wrong version of JAVA (it might be trying to use the java dll's in '/system 32/' instead of the ones in the 'Program Files/JAVA/' folder) or simply it can't find the jvm.dll at all (accidentally deleted)
As you can see it could be anything.....so I'm a little stumped on what to suggest....
Most things 'seem' to point towards something is wrong with your JAVA installation, so I can only suggest perhaps uninstalling/re-installing the correct version of JAVA for the operating system you are using, but I can't say this will fix the problem
Running Magic Launcher 1.0.0 with the latest Forge: inecraftforge-universal-1.4.7-6.6.0.497
Trouble installing Not Enough Items. BTW: Too Many Items installs fine.
I removed Too Many Items and added Not Enough Items and the required ChickenScratch, both are .jar files, into the setup of Magic Launcher. No matter what I've tried, I can't get Not Enough Items to work.

Has anyone figured this out?
Yes I have Admittedly this is for 1.4.6 - but I guess not much has changed for 1.4.7
You DON'T [add] 'chickencore' or 'NEI' from within Magic - since I guess 'Forge' will automatically look for stuff in the 'coremod' folder without you having to add it
So, anyone find a how-to guide for dummies yet? Magic launcher is giving me a headache. Right when I think everything is working fine, 100 creepers and 100 wolves decide to spawn at the exact same time inside my house. Big explosion, game crashes. Sad face. upon respawn , wolves are still all over the place, around 50 or so, which CPU cannot support, 1-2 fps.
... what the #3LL?
Magic launcher is quite magical, it magically crashes my worlds
Key here was putting chicken and NEI into the CoreMod Folder. I also put them in the .minecraft main directory as suggested. I didn't try loading them in with Magic Loader. Now, what is it about these two mods that would give someone a clue that they need to go into the CoreMod folder? I'd like to understand the reasons for this for future knowledge!

I'm afraid we need more information about what you actuall do and don'T do?
How do you install Forge? Which Version do you install? What happens when you install forge? Do you actuall try to run the game after installing forge? If MC crashes what about providing the crash log in

tags? Are you using a fresh .minecraft jar? Are you actuall using the LAUNCHEr to add your mods? What is you operating system? What is your java version? what other mods do you use?
You really need to provide more info if you want to be helped...just typing "I need help" won'T help you at all you know...we don't use crystal balls, we are not clairvoyant and we can'T foretell.

What mods? There should be no problem if you're not using any mods.
I love this idea, but it doesn't work for me. I've used it a few times to install my mods I use (Rei's MiniMap, TMI, and Forge all work...), but I need both Forge AND Optifine for SEUS, which I want horribly. Great Idea, but it doesn't work for me.

For those who don't know (I didn't) SEUS is 'Sonic Ether Unbelivable Shader'
It seems you are quite 'experienced' with Magic - since your other MODs work - so I won't go through the usual advice I give
Anyway - I can't use SEUS since my PC isn't powerful enough (that's most probably why I didn't know what it was) but I'd like to try & help if I can. Could you supply a link to the post you got it from so we can check you have the RIGHT version (I assume you are running minecraft 1.4.7)
I have found a few posts - some which are quite old...I think the most recent one is this one which has instructions on how to install using Magic launcher. Is this the post you tried - & have you done the installation as it states ??
It also looks like you HAVE to have the right version of SEUS for the optifine version you are using
Perhaps the optifine version you are using isn't supported - Yet !!
- can you let us know which version of Optifine you got/used

You also don't say what happens when you try :
- Does minecraft crash or lock up
- You get a black screen,
- You see the main logo but as soon as you load a world it does xxxxxx.....
- Do you get any errors pop up ??
(if you do have any error logs - can you place the logs into [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags to keep the post 'neat')
All this info may give others an idea what might be the problem (if I can't help out)
Hey Guys, I keep getting the error: error connecting to server. I haven't recently installed any mods or anything.

I just got the same timestamp error (with the exact same date and time). And I predict tons of people are also having the same problem. For now, you can:
1. Go to minecraft.net and play from there.
2. Change your windows time settings to sometime before the said Jan 24 02:12:55 PST 2013.
3. Update java? I'll try it now and se if works.
EDIT: just updated java and now it says "This application requires a Java Runtime Environment 1.5.0". But I have Java 7u11...
EDIT2: just uninstalled every version of java I had in my PC, and installed the last versions (both 32 and 64 bits), and now the problem is solved. You should try it out.
EDIT: Hurr durr I'm blind.

You DON'T [add] 'chickencore' or 'NEI' from within Magic - since I guess 'Forge' will automatically look for stuff in the 'coremod' folder without you having to add it
... what the #3LL?
Magic launcher is quite magical, it magically crashes my worlds
Thanks to this poster for the help!!!!
Thank you!!!!!

What mods? There should be no problem if you're not using any mods.
but it doesn't work for me.
Move Fast. Kill First, Die Last. One Shot, One Kill. No Luck, Just Skill.
- can you let us know which version of Optifine you got/used
It also say You need shaders (*.vsh, *.fsh) which are not currently included in mod zip. Have you included them as well ??
You also don't say what happens when you try :
- Does minecraft crash or lock up
- You get a black screen,
- You see the main logo but as soon as you load a world it does xxxxxx.....
- Do you get any errors pop up ??
(if you do have any error logs - can you place the logs into [ spoiler ] [ /spoiler ] tags to keep the post 'neat')
All this info may give others an idea what might be the problem (if I can't help out)
