Thank you for the bug report. I have a two part answer for this.
1. The inability to create nodes looks to be a particularly egregious regression on my part that probably came when re-merging the branches. Completely my fault, should have done more final testing outside of the find/replace stuff. I updated the link with a new 2.5.1 build that should fix this. Please give it a try.
2. The exception is indicating that the file you modified no longer exists. Can you verify whether the file you opened does still exist on your drive? It's not something I could reproduce with basic testing.
I keep getting this error: I am trying to modify the 'scoreboard.dat' file in my minecraft server. I use beastnode for my host and I downloaded the servers files from beastnode through an FTP client I use. However when I open the .dat file it just gives me this error below, I don't believe my files or my server is corrupted, I am just confused as to why it's refusing to open, please help. Thank you.

I was just wondering I'll there ever be the option to add specific tags such as floats, bytes, and others in the Mac version.
Thanks.
There already is. Look in the application menu (top of screen). The Mac UI doesn't lend itself well to lots of toolbar icons, so I omitted them by default.
Version 2.6.0 is available and should fulfill a request I get fairly often: locating a chunk by block coordinates. There's a new "Chunk Finder" tool in the Search menu.
The tool also doubles as a nice coordinate calculator. Modifying any of the boxes will update all the other boxes with consistent coordinates (or ranges of coordinates).
This is the first Windows release where I'm also offering an optional MSI installer download option, which will install the program into your start menu / start screen. The traditional zip distribution is still available.
With that, I think I've covered all the major functionality I wanted to add into the 2.x branch. If I can find time to deal with the refactoring headaches, I'll try and bring some of the missing features back into the Mac version.
I am using NBTEditor 2.6.0 on Windows 7 Professional using BronyModPack for 1.6.4, and I'm having a problem. When I make changes in the level.dat with NBTEditor, I go to File, Save, then File, Exit. I double-check by going to the same place and checking. The changes were made. But when I open Minecraft with BronyModPack and open the world, no changes were made. I close Minecraft and check with NBTEditor for the changes, but they were really gone. Please help me.
This happens when Minecraft doesn't like your changes. It simply discards them. A year or two ago and it would probably crash instead. You'll need to provide more information on what you're actually changing for anyone to be able to help.
Hi. Before i start, this is an awesome tool. Kudos to you.
I used to have this on my old Windows 7 Home Premium rig, but i recently updated to Windows 8.1.
Now one thing right off the bat, when i turned on the .NET Frameworks in Windows Features, and tried to run NBTExplorer, It never shows up. It does absolutely nothing. Not saying it's bad now, but i need to use it kind of right now as i got trapped in an age in FTB Unleashed.
(YES, I had a linking book, but b*tchy Mystcraft took my lecterns and Linking Books.)
Try downloading the latest .NET framework from Microsoft? Might also need to restart your machine.
If you're running from the ZIP, make sure you unzip all the files into the same directory and run from there. If you're still having trouble, it would be helpful if you could look for the failure in your event viewier.
If I try to launch NBTExplorer without Substrate present, I'll get the following in my application event log:
I've now published version 2.6.1 which will do far more rigorous checking and reporting of errors at startup. Unless it's an outright .NET framework issue, trying to run the latest version should give more useful information if it fails to start.

Unfortunately the problem is probably at the Framework level.
Did you do an in-place upgrade from 7 to 8.1? It's interesting you post this today, because I'm actually wiping out my laptop right now to put on a clean 8.1 install, after getting tired of all the WEIRD problems from my 7->8 in-place upgrade. It didn't include .NET problems though. I don't think in-place upgrades are worth it on Windows.
Have you tried running other .NET applications?
Here's a few possible things after searching around:
You can also download and install a copy of Visual C# Express (2010 or 2012/2013 for Desktop), and use that to try and debug the program when it fails. You might get better information. Or the shock to your .NET infrastructure might just make it start working.

I had been using nbt edit since about beta minecraft and it always helped me with backing things up or evening things out
or just fun messing with stuff
original NBT edit stopped working in the first 1.7 snapshots so I am very glad to see a new one. definite +1

- You could have corrupt frameworks (http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/vstudio/en-US/5e9877d0-9dc4-45dd-b68a-a239699a7181/net-framework-runtime-error?forum=netfxsetup)
See the second post for links to framework verification tools. If any of your frameworks are failing verification, you should completely remove and then reinstall them.
- You could have a corrupt user profile (http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/programs-crash-error-fault-module-kernelbasedll/9fe5d2e7-79d0-42c1-b8dc-51ed8d70f749)
Read the accepted answer for deleting and recreating user profiles. You may lose some data/settings with this if you're not careful, though. You can test this by just creating and logging in as a new user (unless the default profile also has problems).
You can also download and install a copy of Visual C# Express (2010 or 2012/2013 for Desktop), and use that to try and debug the program when it fails. You might get better information. Or the shock to your .NET infrastructure might just make it start working.
