I'm trying to run this on Ubuntu 12.10, however I'm having issues getting it to open correctly. Whenever I double click the Py file, it gives me four options: Run in terminal, Display, Cancel, and Run. Both Run, and Terminal don't do anything. It just opens up and closes quickly. Display just displays the text files, while cancel just cancels (obviously, lol). I'm a beginner Ubuntu/Linux user, but I know my way around computers so it shouldn't be too difficult for me to follow any instructions. I was wondering about the Python package - is it a default program in Ubuntu 12.10? I can't seem to find one in the software center aside from a default program, and I tried doing "Sudo apt-get install python" variations but none of them worked. I'd appreciate any help getting this to work - Bukkit usually takes a while to update .
So mad! i used your tool and downgraded too far but when i try to force update it says " FAILED TO LAUNCH /fatal error zero" you better be able to help me fix
I just wanted to play on my server again!

Did you make a backup of your .minecraft folder? If you didn't... then you've skipped the very first rule of using ANY mod/utility. ALWAYS make a backup. In fact, even though your client is giving you a "failed to launch" fatal error message, BACK IT UP NOW!
To get to your .minecraft folder: type "%appdata%" (minus the quotation marks) into your "Search Bar" in the "Start Menu". Alternately, you can hold the "Windows Key" and "R" to open the "Run Command", and type in: "%appdata%", there, instead.
After you've made a BACKUP COPY of the .minecraft folder, ANYWHERE on your PC you want, you will want to go into the .minecraft/bin/ folder and ~DELETE~ your "minecraft.jar" file.
Then, you'll need to load up the Minecraft client, and check the "Force Update" option. This should download ALL of your 1.4.2 data for you.
WARNING! If you have mods that you installed before, you WILL need to re-install ALL OF THEM with their proper launchers, and follow all of their instructions to get them working again.
for making a backup do you just C&P the file then delete the eairlier version? srry, very new to programming
Yes. That is all you'll have to do. I always like to keep backups of my entire .minecraft folder, just in case something goes wrong, or, I want to downgrade to previous versions.
Terra i C&P the .minecraft file to a new folder i created and then i deleted the old one. Still not working and has the same error! What am i doing wrong D:

At this point, if you've deleted the .minecraft folder from your appdata folder, you'll need to load your Minecraft client, and click "Options" and check the "Force Update!" option. Then try to log in with your username and password.
I don't really know why you'd be having any errors, after that... because Minecraft, and MCNostalgia should ~not~ be altering anything ~but~ the .minecraft folder's contents... and without that folder even existing, Minecraft should be forcing you to return to your vanilla client and enforcing a re-download of it's contents.

I... I don't know, then. Something has gone weird, that I can't help you with. Like I've said... the .minecraft folder should have been the ~only~ section of your computer being "changed". So this is beyond my scope of knowledge about MCNostalgia.
As a last ditch effort, I'd suggest deleting the .minecraft folder (entirely), and delete your Minecraft.exe file. Then go to the main Minecraft.net download section, and redownload the client. Then try again.
Other than that, I'm sorry I can't help you with this one. I've never even seen this happen with any mods before... so... yikes. It really shouldn't have gotten that buggered on you.
Sonic.. My Minecraft copy got a fatal error after i used your tool. So i deleted the .minecraft folder with everything in it, so i could get a vanilla copy, didn't work. I deleted my WHOLE minecraft.exe and .minecaft programs and redownloaded EVERYTHING from the site, still the error came. After doing a little sniffing around, i found out that no matter how many times i permantly wipe the folder or program and get the vanilla copy from minecraft.net, the lwjgl thing in the bin folder of my .minecraft folder is ALWAYS corrupt!
-Can it be fixed? If not, i hope you know your in trouble and so is your program sonic!
hopefuly i will figure out how to post a screenhsot too, for your conveince ~note~ ~i will not be on for 8-9 hours after this post~
I used your tool, but when I try to install Modloader, I get a blackscreen. Please Help!
You must make ~absolutely sure~ that the version of ModLoader (and ALL of your mods) you are attempting to use, with MCNostalgia are the same version you have downgraded to. Each version of a Mod is specific to the minecraft.jar file for the client update. That even includes Snaphots and Pre-Release versions (because while some Mod developers didn't ~need~ to change their code between updates, many often do, or have done revisions to their code between Snapshot/Pre-Release and Full Release versions).
When I use MCNostalgia (and you don't ~have~ to do this), I do a force download of a clean version of the client I'm downgrading, with a ~blank~ .minecraft folder. That way I don't have ~any~ mods, or utilities getting in the way of my downgrade. You can always restore your original contents, by having a backup copy of your .minecraft folder, which I ~always~ suggest that ~everyone~ do, regardless of whether they think they need a backup copy, or not.

I'd like to know where you downloaded that, because that is not the correct file size.
