I'm still working on a desert generator, but I'm having a bit of a problem. You can call it a working crysis.
It's extremly hard to work on this project alone and I need another person. I'm looking for a Delphi programmer to join my team. If anyone interested, contact me via skype (Mozzg1987) or via personal conversation in this forum. I don't even know, will I be able to finish this desert generator.
I've got plenty of experience with coding, but never Delphi... I'm a fast learner though, and quite creative, just show me the basics and I'm sure I'll figure it out! Also I plan to play the desert and would be very happy to help make it happen!
No. The problem started to form much earlier, than I began to work on a desert generator. I don't even know, will I finish this generator or not, but I'll try.

Your experience may turn agains you. Pascal is quite different from C++ type languages and to adapt to this language you need more than just an experience.
If you still want to join me, contact me via Skype (Mozzg1987), GMT +3.
Is it normal for the Player Settings screen to be completely blank, save for the "ok" and "cancel" buttons? Please fix!
Also, the biospheres map wreaks havoc upon my processor once in-game. My fps is reduced to about 2 fps, even with Optifine. I believe the problem is that the bottom of the map is open sky, and I see no option that changes it. Please add an option for a layer of water on the bottom like in the planetoids generator.
There are 10 types of people in this world. Those that understand binary and those that don't. I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers.

There is nothing to fix in the Player settings, because there is none for now. There will be some in a new version.
First of all: there is no way you have a lag because of the open sky map like BioSpheres. Also it is not clear, is there a lag on a Planetoid map for example. Still it seems that only you have this lag.
Secondly: you didn't give me any information about a map you generated. You can give me a settings file so I can replicate this map and see, is there any lag for me.
Hmm, for some reason it doesn't seem to be lagging anymore. But I would still like it if you were to add an option for water at the bottom of a biospheres world.
On a completely different note, I seem to spawn near lava in every golden tunnels map I generate. I don't know if this is a bug or just bad luck (probably the latter).

If you spawn near a lava on a Golden Tunnels map it is a bug. Can you give me any of these maps settings?

I've generated these maps using different versions of a program and couldn't find any lava. Lava in Golden Tunnels can be found in 2 places: the bottom layer of a map or at the top of skyholes. So either you done something wrong or you posted the wrong settings files.
I just thought up another world generation you could try once you ironed out the others!
A 'far lands' generator. I acually had a map where someone was able to (quickly) save a large chunk of their far lands (before mc spazed) and loaded in it a normal world. I loved playing through the tunnels!
Perhaps you could add something like that, but with your own twist to it?
Could also add the old skylands generation as well. The beta to 'the end'? I prefer it much more then what Notch turned it into :sad.gif:

I had the same idea about Far lands, but the thing is that Far lands is generated due to a bug in minecraft code, so it is unknown, what part of the code was bugged. It makes almost impossible to replicate this generation.
I can add many types of map generators, but as I said earlier in this topic: I have very little time and no one to help me, so it may take a while. Also I don't know, what changes will happen, when Minecraft will be released. Maybe my program will no longer be needed by the community.

Wish I could help. I don't know from programming at all, but I did make a small Tunnels map and compared it to the big Seibai Tunnels map we had on our server for a while.
Much much more fun (and easier) to explore. That said, it was not a stroll in the park. Unless you are thinking of strolling through Central Park, at night, in your pajamas, with $100 bills stuffed in the pockets.
Off topic, I'm still looking forward to someday having a configurable all-mountain or all-island/swamp/floaty island maptype generator.
As you may already know, I'm working on a desert generator now. It's almost finished (the generator part), I just need to add some options to it.
It is not similar to Seibai's Primorial desert generator, I'd say it's more random in generating dunes and it has some good features. The release will be soon.
P.S. I saw another flat map generator today. This is a third generator I've seen in a month. Can anyone tell me: why people are trying to make something, that is already exists?
It's a good idea to generate ores from a mod and it's definitely doable, but it will be the last thing I do.
First I need to make all the planned generators (at least most of them), then I need to add as many features as I can to them and then I can add something like that.
Also the amount of people, that needs that option, is much less than amount of people, that need another cool generator or a feature for example.
For The Desert Generator You Should make a Desert Stronghold.
Since you know how to make world generation you probably know how to make custom blocks
Just make Some Sandstone Bricks, Cracked sandstone Bricks, Then Put Them into The generation of a desert stronghold! What do you think?

I have something like that in plans, but I don't have time for this. Now my generator can generate 2 types of ruined villages (thanks to WitchyWitchington) and I have planned to generate some sort of a small castle. I want to release an update with a working desert generator as soon as posible and start making an original minecraft generator.
Regarding custom blocks: my program can't make custom blocks, because my program isn't a mod for minecraft. I can create a map with blocks, that have ID number 150 for example, but to run this map you need a mod, that adds a block with that ID to the game. So I will stick to default minecraft blocks.

Sorry, but it would be a last thing I do with that program. Now I'm focused on performance and diversity of different generators.
