OK, this is driving me crazy, Downloaded both the new MC server jar and the new ss jar and when i try to launch it i get

I don't know anything about java so i am confused on what is wrong?
Ok, now I feel like an even bigger idiot, lolas soon as I read your request for the Java version, it clicked that the server had not been updated in a minute, lol Sorry for the stupid question, I should have thought of that first. Thanks for the answer, even if it was not intentional
I'm having the same java error - can you tell me what I do to fix it? I just ran the java update and it said I had the most recent version...
Edit, nm, figured it out. I needed to update the 64-bit version of java (evidently the updater only does the 32-bit)
EDIT: OK, got it running, but it's not actually using the wrapper - it's just running vanilla minecraft and not parsing !commands or using the ranks or even things like the correct number of slots!

Got a couple questions.
Do you have a copy of the console text that you can give us? If SimpleServer's actually running then it should say something like "SimpleServer -- Copyright (C) 2011 SimpleServer authors (see CONTRIBUTORS)" and so on.
If it is, are you connected to the right port? The internal Minecraft server port is typically on 25566 (where none of SimpleServer's features will work), but SimpleServer's port is on the standard 25565; make sure you're on the right one.

I'm not specifying a port when connecting, just '127.0.0.1', so I don't see why it's not connecting to the wrapper.
EDIT: when I specify port 25565 it works... curious. I'm not sure what's going on with the default settings but for now I can just change my port forwarding rule and it should be fine.

Good to hear it's (partially) working out for you. Not too sure why the port needs to be explicity specified for you (could be due to the way localhost gets routed but I know virtually nothing about Linux networking) but you might also want to have another PC to connect to the server and see if it works that way.
Fixed teleporter stuff showing up in console (EX teleport#### joined/quit).
Added scoreboard
Sorry it took so long. I'll get everything pushed to Github, cleaned up and get a binary up here soon. Sorry for the wait.
( and by soon, I mean in less than 12 hours)
I've only got Java 1.7 right now, which means my binaries will only work for people running the 1.7 JRE. So to prevent the onslaught of problems, I'm not gonna build a binary.

I pushed the code like 6 hours after that post. I only have the 1.7 JRE on my computer and most people probably only have 1.6. Thus errors errors errors.
So I didn't build a binary. You can git clone that repo, and run "ant" and have the binary. Already working on the 1.6 update, and that one I'll actually get 1.6 JDK so I can build a 1.6 JRE compatible binary.
I LOVE SSW!! I wanted to run a basically Vanilla server, with just a few tweaks to control griefing and such. This has turned out to be the answer on SO many levels!!!
In the past I have made two suggestions (via IRC chat with sadimusi), both of which were liked and immediately implemented. (and I actually have a few more...) To me, this proves that the "team" behind this wrapper are not only devoted to the game, but to its user base. So thanks guys (and gals, if any)!!!
I wish I knew Java so I could contribute!! But never-the-less, I wanted to thank you guys!!On a different note...
Feel free to build it on 1.6 and release it. I'll try and get 1.6 up and running soon and get a build going.
I see this type thing posted here a lot, and have no idea what to do with it.... Can someone in the know, lay out the basic steps of how to get that into a .jar file..
Thanks

From a linux computer. It breaks down to needing a few things (which you automatically have if you do Android development).
Hey peaches, I've been using simpleserver since... well I've been playing since alpha and started using SS as soon as I discovered it. It does exactly what I needed - auto-backup, mostly, but many of the additional features are great. I run a very small (4-7 people) server just for me and some friends IRL.
Nice, clean, and basically vanilla... Thank you so much!

The main parts are done (Chat, Protocol), so you can actually play. I'm knocking out things on the list as I go. If your are still on v1.5.2. Stay on it for another week. I need more time for 1.6.1 to perfect my changes.
I haven't done much formal testing with Bukkit, but I have found that the 1.6 version of Bukkit has some quirks that cause SS to choke on certain packets, and player join messages don't get filtered out (SS bots joining and exiting show up in-game).
I don't use Bukkit on my server, only thing i have seen that i might be interested in would be to give my Mods, flight without creative mode. I still wish there was a way to do that with vanilla...
I like the flexibility of having Bukkit along with SS. I combine the extensibility of plugins and SS scripts to make a pretty powerful setup. That said, my usage of SS isn't a "typical" one as I heavily customize the message strings of SS, Bukkit plugins, and Bukkit itself. Another bonus is that SS (mostly) obviates the need to install a permissions plugin. One thing that I want to try making is a plugin that integrates Bukkit with SS, allowing for SS to act as a full permissions handler and so on.

Could you tell me a bit more about what system you're using? (What operating system, Java version if you know, etc.)

I went ahead and downgraded to 1.6 and built a binary.

Beautiful!! thanks Will give it a shot

IF YOU ARE ON 1.6.1
Here is a very early build. It works for my server, but I have a lot of things left to do: https://github.com/SimpleServer/SimpleServer/issues/306
The main parts are done (Chat, Protocol), so you can actually play. I'm knocking out things on the list as I go. If your are still on v1.5.2. Stay on it for another week. I need more time for 1.6.1 to perfect my changes.
However if you bite the bullet and updated your server to 1.6.1, then here is SimpleServer for 1.6.1: http://ibotpeaches.com/simpleserver/1.6.1/SimpleServer.jar, please post bugs here or tweet them to me on Twitter (@iBotPeaches).
This is a highly alpha build of SimpleServer
Meant for people who are already on 1.6.1
I'll be looking into these issues further.
