I'm glad you said that as I went through all your 'publicly' accessible ones and came up with quite a few interesting ones. The main one being this -- Where you state that you have been personally warned by an administrator that you're close to being banned because of your attitude towards members of the community and staff.
Do you know how long ago that "personal warning" happened? Something like 4 months, I don't know the exacts because I don't have access to IRC logs or PMs or whatever method he used to send it, it was so long ago I don't even know the means he used to communicate it. I honestly figured he was just having a bad day as nothing else was said of it. I'd actually forgotten about it until you brought it up :smile.gif:
I have no problem with Bukkit as a project, I have a problem with Bukkit as a community, the moderators and admins (Including you, Rigby. And especially RightLegRed) are terrible at maintaining it, terrible at communicating with their users, they are rude, they call users idiots when they insist there aren't enough staff to handle the users (And then ironically decide to get more mods a month later). I'm not the only person making people feel unwelcome, luckily most of my posts were in Bukkit+, somewhere only plugin developers had access to. The Bukkit staff make people feel unwelcome in every nook and cranny of the forums. How about you find some posts that actually make people feel unwelcome? (Let me clarify one thing, find a post that "makes people feel unwelcome" that doesn't have a few likes because others feel the same way)
As for the tweet, of course I knew they disliked me, I criticized half of their decisions because they were bad choices for the community, and I had been banned at a webserver-level, which lead me to believe it was a mistake (And it was).
Celtic, as for your "You have no deleted posts? That's interesting, I was not aware of that.", of course I have deleted posts, a small portion admittedly deserved, others not so much.
As for BukkitDev, here are a few of the reasons I find it to be a bad choice: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/why-curse-is-the-wrong-choice.36697/
Aside from those, it was pushed on the userbase when it was incomplete, had blatant bugs that should have been found and fixed had they actually tried using it themselves, and in general is not better than the forum in my and many other's opinion. http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/sorry-i-just-hate-bukkit-dev.41760/
Funny thing about BukkitDev, more than 50% of the people who voted dislike it, and yet the Bukkit staff does nothing to listen to their concerns, showing a complete lack in communication or caring for what the community wants, imagine that.
What I said wasn't to defend Drakia, a permanent ban does nothing but hurt the common server owner, and a certain admins attitude towards the matter really left a bad impression on me.
I understand it's Bukkits community and they can do what they want, however I believe they did a wrong thing. This kind of gives me the impression "If your opinion is different from ours, you don't belong in our community."
That certain admin said to look at Drakias past posts to understand what he did wrong, I looked through quite a bit of them and all I see is someone being extremely vocal about their opinion.
Oh and I also understand that I didn't see everything Drakia said, but I did see what the certain admin said to look at.
But like I said in my post, I'm not posting here to start arguments or flame Bukkit, just stating my, perhaps one sided, opinion.
Edit: In case I'm not being clear, my issue is that the Bukkit staff seems to not care about our opinions one bit, which I have always had a problem with, the whole banning situation just confirmed what I've felt all along since day one.
Celtic, as for your "You have no deleted posts? That's interesting, I was not aware of that.", of course I have deleted posts, a small portion admittedly deserved, others not so much.
Well sorry for misinterpreting your vague comment that implied you had never had a post deleted.
Can you prove that this is truly 50% of the community? (Well, more than 50%, but whatever.) If most of the people who like BukkitDev didn't find this poll and didn't vote, of course the outcome would be skewed.
I'm not seeing the lack of communication to the degree you imply, either. Their communication isn't stellar, because they're busy with other stuff besides Bukkit. But it's there.
Edit: In case I'm not being clear, my issue is that the Bukkit staff seems to not care about our opinions one bit,
I see. I'm wondering where you get this impression, and what you would consider "caring about our opinions". If you expect them to listen to every little complaint people make and act on it, of course you'll be unsatisfied; they have lives besides working on the project, after all. Besides that, they can't be expected to remember every little thing people say; it's a large community, is it not? But maybe that's not what you expect from staff who care about their community. Maybe it's something else that's missing to your mind. I don't know, but I do know that I can't see what you see. At least, I can't see them not caring about our opinions; in fact I have seen evidence that they do care at least a little.
Oh, and I forgot to reply about my plugins being "other peoples".
"Stargate and its DHD add-on are the main ones. The edge case ones were iChat and um... I think it was InvTool, the former because it's essentially Niji's plugin and the other because there was a note in the post saying that it already existed for hMod and you rewrote it for Bukkit."
Here is a diff of the original Stargate code, and what it is today: http://i.imgur.com/J37d7.png
White = the same. Now try telling me it's just Dinnerbones plugin again. As for DHD, how is that somebody elses? Did Stargate-DHD exist before I created it? Because I'm fairly certain (100% actually) that there were no addons for Stargate prior to my taking it over.
As for iChat, it is similar because I had worked on 1.x previously, but I wrote the entirety of iChat 2.x from scratch. Again, the IDEA was someone elses, the implementation mine. Saying it is somebody elses plugin is akin to saying Bukkit is Hey0's mod.
About InvTools: "there was a note in the post saying that it already existed for hMod"
Haha, you know who wrote it for HMod? Me. From my own post: "I decided to port my invincible tools plugin from hMod to Bukkit!"
In response to the flurry of posts here from Bukit forum moderators:
Funny thing is, I posted one complaint on bukkit forum, and was promptly accused of being a sock puppet by a moderator. The response from administration has been barely more civil, despite the lack of swearing or abuse in my posts on that site.
I'm not personally impressed with this treatment, nor am I impressed with the way the situation with Drakia was handled, and I have expressed this information as politely as I can as a warning to MCF bukkit users.
I am well aware that bukkit forum is not a democracy.
Indeed, neither is MCF, but I think you will find that the benevolent despots of this forum have more tact and diplomacy in their approach to moderation than has been displayed recently at bukkit forum.
In my experience, MCF moderators also have more of a sense of humor than their thinner skinned bukkit forum counterparts, but the hate going on in this thread just isn't funny.
If this vindictive attitude is the best you can come up with, then kindly go back to where you came from.
After all, aren't you all supposed to be moderating a forum somewhere?
My apologies, Rigby90, you are correct, they are not moderators. I am sorry to have mistaken you for bukkit forum moderators, CelticMinstrel and Mbaxter, and I withdraw that identification. Please enjoy your time here at MCF, it's a lot more laid back than Bukkit Forum!
You, Rigby90, however, are going to get the same response as last time:
Don't you have a forum you should be moderating somewhere? :dry.gif:
Climbs down from High Horse of Rage, and saddles up the Little Pony of Peace and Tolerance...
TnT, I didn't mean to make you personally feel unwelcome here at MCF, my previous post was directed at Rigby90.
Indeed, if I may attempt to be more constructive in my comments, I welcome any and all Bukkit moderators to MCF (including Rigby90). It is damm good forum, despite its sheer number of users (and all the craziness that can entail).
In fairness, given the Bukkit Forum needs its moderators in the chaos of the switch to Bukkit Dev, imho, you all do have a forum to moderate, but I also understand everyone needs a change of scene from time to time.
Please feel free to drop by any time here at MCF, and enjoy your visits!

It was still Dinnerbone's initially, for what that's worth. (Not a great deal, I suppose, but also not irrelevant.)
As for DHD, how is that somebody elses? Did Stargate-DHD exist before I created it? Because I'm fairly certain (100% actually) that there were no addons for Stargate prior to my taking it over.
Sorry, I actually just assumed that since it had Stargate in the name that it was originally by the same person.

I did not notice a "my". Perhaps you can take that as an indication of how much I really care about whether they're truly your plugins. :wink.gif: (ie, not much)
For the DarkMother/MsInscrutable exchange, I'm sorry but I couldn't help laughing at... well, something about them was funny, anyway. I'm not quite sure what it was. But yeah, I am not a moderator on the Bukkit forums. :smile.gif:
Its crazy to look back and think about how things were before bukkit. Although there have been some issues here and there it has complete changed the way things are done.
Congratulations to the Bukkit team members on their new jobs!
Welcome to the wonderful world of paid employment doing the thing you guys do best.
Seriously, this must be a dream come true for you all, so please learn from your previous mistakes in employee relations and consumer complaints management, this stuff really is more important than you may have previously considered.
This is the real deal now, so don't screw it up, Ok?

I'm impressed at how this project has grown into an amazing... thing... without which our Minecraftian lives would be quite incomplete. This powerful platform is "essential" (I always like a good pun) to a server which enriches the experience and possibilities of a server. Well done!
