How long does it take to load a typical size map? I see all these cool photos yet when I run it and open a fresh world, I don't see much just a bunch of green squares with question marks in them.
I really like this program because it shows me the names of the chunk I select which makes Identifying chunks much more easier. I've been using McEdit to ID chunks but it doesn't show the name of the selected chunk, so I would have to prune an entire map just to isolate one chunk to be Identified, wasting time and data space(unless there is a better way that I don't know of). If Chunky would load a whole lot faster it would be my preferred program to ID chunks.
Also, it would be a really cool feature to just type in a chunk ID and it automatically jumps to and highlights that chunk.
Hmm, somehow it doesn't work, when i open it and select a world, i get just a white map...
I think this is most likely due to the change in file types from updates, it could also be due to new block types. :sad.gif: I was hoping this would be updated, I have been searching for something to fix a SMP world but I can't find anything that will.

It looks like it can handle any old maps I have, ie that use the old chunk style. I guess it just hasn't been updated for the new chunk style.
MCedit did not really delete the chunk. I believe it kinda cleared the blocks in the chunk. I need the chunk delete completely. Will test this program and see if it works for 1.8.1
Long time no post. I added support for the new Anvil save format. This broke the chunk deletion and export options, but at least you can view current worlds now.
Woah, really nice job. It works really nicely. Only thing i would suggest is a message that tells you when the image is fully rendered. Also, getting started is difficult, it needs a tutorial. Very nice work otherwise, i used it to improve the pictures on my skyrealm survival map!

Brilliant program man. Just one little problem on my end. When it renders, it makes the first demo image and it is very grainy. I know it is supposed to keep on rendering and fix that but it doesn't. It just stays as that image.
I can't seem to get the 3d view or render to work correctly. I just get the default red squares and the white circle. I'm guessing I'm supposed to see a quick render of the 3d but I don't. I want to use this to render some super awesome pix man!

Did you select the area you wanted to view. It doesn't render the entire world, just the parts you want to see. To select an area, leave you finger on shift and drag the area you would like to render.

It sounds like the render threads crashed. Unfortunately when this happens there is no notification to the user. I'm planning on fixing that.
Try rendering another world and see if you get the same error. If the error appears only for one specific world then it's probably some particular block or block type that is causing the error.

I tried using a new world at it worked fine. Thanks. At least I know it works on my computer.
The map I originally wanted to render has a huge amount of torches, redstone torches and minecart booster tracks. Plus the world was created back in Beta 1.1, so it may have some old code or something (I have no idea, I am just a noob). May that have anything to do with the issue?
PS: Sorry for late response, I was away from home.

It's hard to tell. The same thing happened to me once and I figured out it was the ladder rendering code that had an error. Then I fixed that. It could be pretty much anything (except ladders!). I need more information to debug it, and I'm adding crash reports to fix that. So right now there is nothing to do about it unfortunately.
Is there any way I can move the sky picture when I load it into the program? It always wants to wrap around the chunk the wrong way, making the sky look split up really bad :/

other than that, chunky is AMAZING.
Since version 1.0.2 you can't change the sky orientation (since it was tied to the sun angle, but is no longer). If you get an ugly seam in the sky then you should try using another sky texture. Try for example one of these: http://www.wuala.com/Olson/Photos/Optikz_360_Skies/

Here is the release page: https://launchpad.net/chunky/ download
You need to load a texture pack. Read the Wiki for instructions (link is in OP).
Check the Wiki for tutorials.
I'm not sure what's causing that problem.

How did you start Chunky? Did you use the Chunky.bat file or double click the Chunky.jar file?
