going to try a different section of the map see if it is just something around my current location, if i leave the automap up awhile it crashes with "has encountered a problem and needs to close", ill keep you updated
I turn on AutoMap and then it says giving minecraft time to load the map completely then it says grey and my computer becomes extremely loud and then it crashes and says MinecraftAM has stopped working. This happens on every map I put on my SMP server. Haaaalp :sad.gif:

Eeep. I hope you just mean your fans speed up. I am aware of the problem and I am investigating.
I found the problem that is causing some to get odd behavior on SMP worlds. For some of you, this meant the map was unusable, and for others it meant the static map got shared with the last server you played on in Minecraft 1.7. Anyway, if you are one of those who had an unusable (gray) map in SMP, here is a temporary workaround while I work on the fix:
Go to your .minecraft folder and open options.txt. Add this line somewhere (in my options.txt, it was just above the keybinds):

Save the options file.
This works but the program is pretty laggy. Thanks for helping us out :smile.gif:

This is partly due to Minecraft being slow. It gets slower with every patch. 1 year ago, Minecraft ran great. Mojang really needs to do performance profiling to find the slow points and speed up the game. So do I though. I just can't afford to spend 600 dollars to do it. That tool kicks ass, but the price is prohibitively expensive for hobbyists.
What I did was using MyCraft.
Make 2 folders in the mod folder within MyCraft named ModLoader and MinecraftAM.
Then put the .class files from ModLoader and AutoMap in it's respective folders.
When running a fresh AutoMap installation make sure you don't patch minecraft,
and if you do you will have to delete the bin folder in the .minecraft folder.
Also using "lastServer:anything" in minecraft options file as mentioned earlier.
You the start the game by using MyCraft, and off you go!

Nice. I hope Minecraft gets built-in mod loading functionality that doesn't *ever* require jar modification. Everything would be so much simpler. Anyway, I found where the server address info is kept, so I can post an update tonight to fix mapping in SMP (until then, keep using the "lastServer:anything" hack!).
Hey BP I am having an Issue with the latest version where i load up the map is just says Disconnected. Attempting reconnect. When mine craft loads i get the message about auto map java v12 code initialized. Not sure if i did something wrong or not or if maybe i just need to open a port up on my router. Any help would be appreciated!

This is because you pirated some Adobe software and your activation crack includes remapping localhost to 0.0.0.0 in your hosts file (google it if you don't know what that is). Remove that mapping and all should be fine.
Thats what it was the last 3 times anyway. :biggrin.gif:

I get
"connection refused
if minecraft is already running and a world is loaded, you may have forgotten to install risugamis modloader: or the automap mod may not be installed correctly. trying connection again..."
i installed latest xna and .net, dragged modloader into minecraft jar and ran automap install and got "everything is ok" on all 3 steps.
now,i am partially retarded, so im gonna raise my hand and ask for a hint.

I have the same problem I get the Disconnected. Attempting to reconnect... Even after starting with a fresh install of Minecraft, restarting after updating the mapped localhost, allowing MinecraftAM.exe thru the firewall etc.
It's a real bummer because it looks like a very excellent mod and I would love to be using it :sad.gif:
Any other tips to get this working would be much appreciated :biggrin.gif:

oops - apparently there was a second entry for remapping the localhost. My bad! removing it worked! :biggrin.gif: And it looks very very excellent so far
Can you explain the height markers are? I just see a bar, 4/5ths red, the top 1/5th grey on every bit of ore.
The height markers are an indication of the ore's height relative to your head (or feet, I forget which). Anyway, the length and color of the bar is determined by the ore's height. If it is one block below you, there will be a 1 pixel red bar extending down from the gray/white pixel. If it is two blocks below you, the bar will be 2 pixels. The same goes for ores above you, except that the bar extends the other way and is blue. Also, due to the way the cave mapping works, you aren't likely to see a lot of ore that is above you since the map won't show anything above the roof over your head. Once you get close, you will see the bars start to shrink. When just the gray/white pixel is left, it means you are at that ore's height.

Though only on multiplayer.
It's just flickering between that text, a gray screen and some static map inbetween.
edit works fine in smp in the nether, so i guess its not loading an object in the main map.
tried multiple smp servers same on all
even when im on bedrock the flashes of the map are of the top layer, what could cause it to have trouble with elevation?

External server browser: Created by me, made for you.Not working atm, and will not get updated in the near future, sorry.
Second: Can you explain the height markers are? I just see a bar, 4/5ths red, the top 1/5th grey on every bit of ore.
Other than that, everything else I worked out myself.
