Oh crap, I feel stupid now I thought that was some kind of display to show how many people downloaded the thing -.- Thanks for not ranting at me
EDIT: Well, still doesn't work, I get error-messages everytime I click "Load world" or "Create world"... :/
You might want to post the error messages here, so they can be looked at by those maintaining MCEdit
I'm still on Minecraft 1.1 myself, but MineCrak did say this:
"The current TEST versions ARE ANVIL compatible." (on Page 296)
I just wanted to pop in and thank the current developers for their hard work. I use MCEdit religiously, since I mostly play Minecraft in Creative, and I'm grateful that you're continuing work on this tool.
Problem solved, two of my 1.2.3 maps were corrupted and apparently that's reason enough for MCEdit to not even open the world-menu I deleted those worlds, everything works fine now, thank you very much!
Are you trolling me? "main.exe" doesn't exist. Not even in any of the subfolders
EDIT: Someone please help me, I have a friend waiting on me to do something with his map. I used to use MC edit just fine but now the author had to complicate things with this "github" or whatever it is. What use is there putting work into something that you can't even run?
You downloaded the source. You should have clicked the link that said, "Downloads (2)" and then chosen the windows version.
Oh. Why did it have to be so complicated? It's easy to miss that button when there are a million others on the page....
Okay, now when I try to lode up the level.dat folder it either says the map is empty or it says eRROR: invalid index. W...what? I've been on this map plenty of times before and we have plenty of stuff on it....why won't it load?

First of all, make a backup copy of your map before trying to edit it. Then provide us with more details. Does your map contain modded content? What version of Minecraft is your map from?
Sorry? Maybe you should ask the owners of the GitHub website.

The map is from 1.2.3, no modded content. My friend sent it to me over skype first, then media fire, neither level.dats worked. We were just using it today but for some reason after he sent it to me it wouldn't work in MCedit. Something that may(?) be the cause is that he uses a mac and I use PC. I know Java works with both versions the same, but I don't know, technology is weird sometimes.
I've been waiting for 1.2 so i may finish my map files and release them on schedule but i can't with this MCedit problem. I downloaded the Mac OSX 1.6 zip, tried to run it and it said it failed. I am not tech savy, I have no clue what to do, any thoughts or suggestions plz?
I'm sorry but I hate this program. I looked at every video tutorial I could find, and it's impossible for me to make a single SELECTION. All I want to do is copy some of my builds to a new map, and I can't even do that with this program. When I'm in the middle of selecting, I can't change the direction of my view at all, and when I right click to look around my entire selection disappears. So basically, this program needs LOTS of improvement in my opinion. The controls are way more complicated than they have to be.
Are you sure you're not learning disabled? This program is so easy to use, my 10 year old cousin uses it with ease.

I kind of feel like the benefits of Minecraft 1.2 are not enough to compensate for the new save format. Sure, it's more compact, but its community impact has been mostly negative thus far.

The old stable releases don't work with 1.2. Read the thread. You need the latest test build from github to edit 1.2 maps.

A new chunk format and thus a new map format was a requirement before the height limit could be raised.
I'm pretty sure double map height was a pretty big benefit.

It already does work with 64-bit systems. (Confirmed for Win7 64-bit, at the very least)
Why not download it from the link on the very first post?
