I love MCEdit. I use it a lot for single player and my server.
I was wondering...Is there a 64 bit version of this? I see it says mcedt 32 bit on the top left.
I need to know how schematic files are saved, and by that I mean the gritty 1's and 0's of it...
What's going on is that I'm trying to make a 64KB RAM, but the multiplexers are looking pretty fearsome. I've got the plans down and written, but I'm looking at 10,000+ man-hours of labor to actually build the array; I can't just build one and copy. However, the job would be simple for a computer. I have access to a mainframe for a programming class, and I could write a program to build a schematic file in ~50 instructions -IF I knew how it was stored in binary.
i have seen three errors and i have one request, current versions in mcedit 18.1 with minecraft 1.7.3,
error one, it says error when attempting to search for update on the concole window (error while fetching release: <'http error',302,'moved temporarily',<httokub, httonessage ubstabce at 0x0FA710>>
it is not blocked by my enternet secerity and im connected to the enternet,
error number two that i found, nether rack is purple on the brush, itself, but when place it turn back to normal.
error three, when placing down ladders,it apears as a sandstone slot on top, this kinda ges wth my request.
my one request(which can be ignored for now) is the ability to move and change the direction of certian blocks, such as pistons, ladders, redstone repeaters, redstone torches, torchs, and doors
When I open MCEdit and load my world, it has tons of red blocks both underground and on the surface.
What are those?
Should I remove them?
the red blocks are entries, you can only delete them via entries delete, entries are monsters, fallen items, etc. also yellow blocks are entries attached directly to a block
you can turn entries off in opions(they still exist but you dont see them)

I really like this but i am trying to fill a selected area with stone but it will only fill in the area that it gives you if you create a new world with it. any help?
Expand the world by playing in Minecraft or using the Chunk Control tool to create chunks.
Is there another tool like this that uses schematic files, that will work for Mac OS X Lion? :dry.gif:
There's no other tool like this one, but you can use the Minecraft Structure Planner to view .schematics in 2D and 3D and edit them in 2D. The only other way I know of to import .schematics is using MCEdit's level loading library. Hit the "pymclevel" link under the Quick Links at the top, roll up your sleeves, and teach yourself how to use MCEdit's command line counterpart, mce.py
when i try opening MCEdit it says "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect" does anyone know how to fix this? please and thank you!!
Uninstall and reinstall your Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable. A link is on the downloads page.

Check the downloads page for 64-bit version for Windows. I can't tell you how to get it running in 64 bit mode on OS X or Linux.

Schematic files are in NBT format. The tag structure for .schematic files is documented on the Wiki.
Is there a way to replace only blocks off type X in the selection with blocks of type Y with MCedit? If not someone knows how to do this with another program?
EDIT: nvm, found a way to do it with worldedit.
What was your experience with MCEdit? Did you try the "Fill/Replace" tool without success?

302 error will be fixed in the next release. Brush previews will be fixed - what you're seeing is Classic graphics instead of Beta ones. A brush for tinkering with single blocks will be useful, but it would be hard to use until I put in all of the graphics for pistons, repeaters, and doors.
stable19 is posted. This version finally adds a Chest Editor. (It isn't very pretty.)
You can change item values, add a blank item, delete an item from the chest, or delete all instances of an item from the entire world. To edit a chest, spawner, or other block type, you have to double-click on it now instead of right-clicking. A new main menu command "Load World..." lets you choose a Minecraft Beta world from a list, sorted by the Last Played date. Also, the Brush and other tools will remember the last 7 block types you used.
There's a big caveat for the Chest Editor. If you tell it to delete the "Water" or "Lava" item from a chest, it will also delete any Water or Lava blocks placed in the world.
It only works for the server owner. You would need to download the entire server world, edit it with MCEdit, then shut down the server and upload the server world again before starting the server back up.
I recieve the error "Could not find Python2.6" could someone please help me? I am running Mac OSX 10.5.8 and the only version (for MCedit) that will download is the Mac 1.6 version.
Schematic files are in NBT format. The tag structure for .schematic files is documented on the Wiki.
Ok, so it took me a while but eventually I think I've got it. But how is the extra data for things like repeaters stored? Preferably in terms of an absolute displacement from the block data to which it belongs (not to sound picky or anything; I just find that much easer to understand).

Install the required programs for Mac that are listed on the downloads page.

Each byte of the Data array corresponds to a byte at the same position in the Blocks array. Check the Data values page to find the data value for each repeater/torch orientation. You'll probably want to calculate wire strengths too.
Okey. When will Mcedit be updated for the python 2.7.2 and Numpy 16.1? This is what I have and it still gives me the same error message: Cannot find Python 2.6.

It's on the download page, under "Linux / Older Mac OS X". You'll have to install all the programs listed in the readme-linux.txt, though.

You might want to look into the virtualenv tool, which allows you to run a different python environments (both the python executable and its libraries) on the same machine. It may be a bit of a hassle to install on OSX, though, you'll probably have to install MacPorts and go from there. (The lack of good package management is one of many reasons that OSX pisses me off ...)
EDIT: Or codewarrior could answer this before I write up a reply... :wink.gif: Follow codewarrior's advice before mine.
Okay, I tried to download, but the .tgz fails to decompress. when I double click it in the downloads list it notifies me it is still downloading. Sorry for all the trouble.

At this point, I think your best bet is to bite the bullet and just install python2.6 and numpy from the links in the download section, then use the OS X version of MCEdit.
I tried making a completely new map like you suggested and it still gave me a snow biome. Normally, that wouldn't be much of a problem but I use it to make Test Maps and it gets kidn of annoying when what ever your testing gets covered in snow, or your water suddenly freezes.

Sorry about the delay. Did you check the Options for an option that does what you want? There's a button labeled "Change", try pressing that one.

The "Surface" option was removed in favor of using the mousewheel to adjust the brush's distance from the terrain. "Balloon mode" should come to mind.

I downloaded the exe via the adf.ly link. it installed all nicely, left it to install where it wanted.
I get the:
(no it didn't, nor when I redownloaded).
I tried the .zip download. the "main.exe" gives same error. the mcedit.bat says "the system cannot execute the specified program".
I had the black screen problem with minecraft when I logged in so i used the bat + java development kit fix. I run 1.7.3
I tried putting all files in the .minecraft folder just in case, didn't work (kinda pointless, still tried).
I run on windows XP SP2 32.

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying it!
