Sassgaard is a high-resolution cartoony resource pack, with custom sounds and models. It's a little bit Norse, and a little bit bonkers, with bright, bold colours that give your game a cheery look without being over-saturated and difficult to look at. Each texture is hand-drawn, using a variety of techniques to create a unique look that hasn't been replicated or reproduced.
Alternate textures are always being added as new looks are swapped in and out as the pack grows and evolves. Sassgaard also includes support for MCPatcher/Optifine, though neither mod is required to run the pack.

Lore
Being completely unfaithful to the default resource pack, Sassgaard introduces an entirely new feel to the game, with "new" mobs, magical armour, and items of both the mystic and mundane.
Mobs
Occasionally, trolls will come down from the mountains and settle small villages. These trolls aren't unfriendly, but they're not friendly either. Their willingness to trade with you is quickly belied by their outrageous demands. It's easier to wait until they're not looking and just pillage their crops. But watch out. Some trolls are feral, and will kill you before even thinking about trading.
Dwarves live deep underground in their caves, though sometimes they use our magic portals to come to the surface. Like the trolls, they're neither friendly nor unfriendly, but they're always ready for a fight. Get too close, and you risk offending them.
Jötnar can sometimes be found living amongst the trolls. Why they have come so far south is a mystery, but you'll never see one on his own. These big brutes are surprisingly friendly but still pack a mean punch if you do manage to annoy one.
You've got sheep, but we've got goats. These beasts will climb on everything and are sure to find the quickest way out of any enclosure you try to keep them in. These goats won't be pulling any chariots, though. They're more fit for the slaughter.
Ravens dot this landscape and fill it with their sharp croaks. You could try to kill these birds for food, but the morsel you get from them is barely a snack. Instead, collect their blue eggs to bake into your cakes.
At night, orcs come out from their cave with one thing on their mind: your blood. Orcs are ruthless killers who hate not only you, but the trolls that chose to settle in the lowlands. The Jötnar will fight them off, but the best way to defend yourself against these creatures is with a sturdy structure and lots of light.
Barrow wights have been seen roaming the land. These creatures are mischievous, and may steal or move things from time to time, but they're also deadly. Don't let them know that you've seen them, or you won't live long enough to tell anyone else.
Mod Support
Now that the pack is done, I've begun to add mod support! The following mods are supported in this pack:
The creative patch is not a full texture pack, but an overlay that should be stacked on top of the main pack. It replaces double slabs, ores, and monster eggs to add nearly 30 additional types of stone, brick, dirt, sand, and more.
This is a "Cartoon" texture pack. THIS is. Not any of those "splash one color on everything". This is a cartoon. It has line, form, detail, color. Everything a good illustration requires.
This pack is, frankly, AMAZING! So much so that I'm having a hard time laying off the CAPS LOCK when commenting on it. Hopefully everyone will FORGIVE ME on that issue.
I'm not a fan of the obsidian, though. Too smooth and gradient-y for the rest of the pack. It's hard to tell from your screenshot, but a few of your other blocks might fall under this issue as well.
Even so, I still think this pack is a spectacular example of what a genuine "cartoon" style pack can be. Well done!
Here's a better look at the obsidian, but yeah, I think from far off, the texture does get lost in the shine.
I can do a more tiled version though, and get rid of the bricks (IDK, I like them). Definitely. Now I just wish Curse would come up with a customiser feature to make using them a bit more easy.
I really love the theme of this pack. RPG and Cartoon texture packs have always been my favorite packs, and you nailed the cartoon style!
What I really like about it is the dark outlines- after all, it is a cartoon pack. I love the new obsidian- keep up the good work!

Thanks! I've been fiddling with an alternative obsidian texture, because I think Alvoria was right, but I haven't come up with anything else I like yet. I had a really hard time getting this one to work as well for some reason too.
Today's update's got a bunch of other stuff, though. I'll post it once I've woken up a bit more.
Anvil - not outlined because the texture misbehaves badly.
Brew stand - same deal on the base
Potions
Pistons - creative and survival alts
Tripwire
Flower pot
Daisy
I'm very displeased with the lack of/strange outlining on some of the blocks, but there's not a whole lot I can do about it, with the way Minecraft uses the textures.
I actually have the same problem. Same with the dragonegg.
My plan for this is to make an texture with 1 pixel thick stripes in different colors, so I can map out what texture goes where. ^^
The problem is any line you add to one side shows up on another in a completely different place, and I can't quite work out how or why.
I had to go through this with my own anvil. The problem is that each side of the anvil uses the same texture rotated 90º. So if you start from any given side, the opposite side of the anvil will be the same texture rotated 180º. This means that there are very few areas of the texture that are exclusive to a single side.
If I ever find out who decided this was a good way to texture this I swear on all that is holy I will punch him.
Unless you're doing CTM, the only way to deal with it is to try to plan around this rotation. It's impossible to do seamlessly. The best you can really do, especially in your case, is to try to make it as unoffensive as possible.
If you're willing to do CTM, however, you can pull it off flawlessly with enough work. If you want a short way of figuring it out, download my pack and reverse-engineer it. I've kept all the anvil stuff in its own folder for convenience sake. It shouldn't be too hard. Just keep in mind that I have separate side textures for each degree of damage for the anvil. If you're not going to do that, your version will be much simpler.
Keep up the awesome work on this pack! I'm really enjoying it!

Can I punch him too? Oh my god, who decided that should be a thing? That's stupid.
I'll probably do just that, though, once I get to a point that I want to work with a bit more CTM. I'm very brand new to it, but everything I do know comes from doing just what you suggested, and downloading packs to pick them apart. I've looked at the guides that are posted, but they just make my eyes go crossed.
Keep up the awesome work on this pack! I'm really enjoying it!
Thanks! I'm really enjoying making it, so we all win! \o/
I'm very excited about this, so I'm going to share it! I finally fixed the CTM issue in the creative overlay. Cobblestone blocks, stairs, and slabs, with the silverfish block in purple planks. You can see the stone brick behaving perfectly in the background as well.
This has been driving me nuts, and I wasn't sure I could fix it. But yay!

I agree with this statment very nice cartoony hand drawn feel.I like this very much and I'm sure a lot of other people will as well. Great job!
I just want to say i have having a play through with you pack right now and I have to say your choices of colors is AMAZING! The purple gravel is cool the colored stones in the dirt very nice. The colors you have chosen are just right and not too sugary sweet as some of the more colorful packs can be.Who would have thought cobble stone could be blue tile? It doesn't look out of place surprisingly. It's refreshing to see someone step outside of the box.Right now I cannot find fault with anything you have done. Just keep within the same color pallete and style for the rest of the pack and you have got a winner. I eagerly await every update to come and I hope there will be a lot of them. Cheers.

Thanks! If you take any screen shots of the pack in action, stick them up and I'll put them in the OP.
Once upon a time, vanilla gravel was sort of pink and weird, and I've always had a hard time seeing Minecraft gravel in any other colour now. XD
RE: cobblestone, that block's always the single block that will make or break a pack for me. It's one of the most common blocks, and it's often so ugly. I think I subconsciously got the blue tile idea from GoodMorning Craft, which has a blue brick alt for the cobble (or did, before the customiser broke).
I'll probably do a more realistic cobble eventually, but I think the blue tile will stay in the main pack for a while, since I use the pack myself, and I really like the look of it right now.
This is amazing, love the cartoon-y feel.
Only thing I can critique is the pale line going through the grass; don't know if that's intentional or not.
Thanks!
The lines are totally intentional. It looked really flat without them, I thought. I took them off and stuck these versions in the alts folder, for the next update though:

The anvil was hacking me off, and I fiddled a bit more. Now it's... half-outlined.

My plan for this is to make an texture with 1 pixel thick stripes in different colors, so I can map out what texture goes where. ^^
This is definitely why I'm saving most of the mobs until the end, though. The few I've done have been an exercise in crying in the corner.

Mobs are fun to do, when you know witch part goes where. Magma Cubes on the other hand, is not that fun.
