Sandstone isn't showing up and neither are another load of blocks. Please fix this.
Yes, they are not yet completed. There was some talk a while back about adding an alternative download with default placeholders, so if it's really bothering you I'll add that to the next update.
Zamaj Inc. is sorry for the inconvenience.
Yes.. I'll see about all of that.
Anyway, I have an update all set up- just have to post it now. Hopefully I'll have time tonight. Thanks for the interest!
(Also- you really run yourself down- I really like you artwork, even though I've never seen anything other than your textures, which are great IMO.)
zamaj, I really must apologize! This is the first I've seen of your pack and I wouldn't wish you to think I was purposefully avoiding it because it's on a similar theme...I just spend so little time in the Texture Pack section these days...partly because I'm so busy trying to catch up with 1.5 work and partly because seeing what amazing things other people do now, only makes me feel despondent at my own lack of talent and how much there is to do to just keep afloat!
I do still occasionally dip in, so I'm still amazed I haven't come across it earlier, especially as the title would have immediately caught my eye. It's because I also don't frequent the TAU as often as I should either. Sorry, this is sounding more like a confessional than congratulatory post! Anyways the fault is mine, and I can only apologize again.
This pack is wonderful! Like Steelfeather's and 13thMurder's packs, it's nice to see more art on a Victorian/Steampunk theme in the Texture Pack Section...as I've said to 13thMurder, I don't feel quite so alone anymore!
I can tell you in all honesty, if we were both starting out today at the same time, your pack would without a doubt blow mine out of the water. If you ever get down or frustrated about your work, just take a look at some of my early screens back in 2010...that'll soon cheer you up! It depresses me, mind!
I'm just frustrated, because I'm only running a 1.5 snapshot setup, so can't immediately give it a whirl. I'll MC Patcher convert it tonight and have a good work avoidance session playing it through. Your screens however, more than do your work justice. Love the cobble and stone and actually really like what you've done with the ores. I can see why there are some comments about them being slightly soft in appearance, but I'm not too concerned with that, because I so like the way the ores bed down into the cracks of the rock and the way in which they will obviously tile well.
Overall it has just the right sense of mood that appeals to me and definitely has it's own distinctive style. It really does deserve more attention, and it will undoubtedly get it, zamaj. It is quality work and that will always shine through.
I like your plans for the future and the way in which you are set to tackle them. I agree with minihilly that there's always time to diversify into 64x at any stage really, if you're looking to include more detail...even if you have to, "pull a Glimmar". Incidentally, I thought the definition of 'pulling a Glimmar' was actually another meaning to 'waffle' or 'prevaricate' too much. I'd definitely advise against that!
You don't need me to tell you to keep up the great work, because I have every confidence from what I've seen that you will...However, keep up the great work!
I didn't ever think that you were avoiding my topic or anything like that. There's really no need at all to apologize.
Yes- there don't seem to be many of this style/theme of pack around, I wanted to do something a bit out of the ordinary, and I wanted to combine fantasy with steampunk, so that led my to a Victorian-themed pack.
I have seen some of your earliest alpha textures, yours was actually the first texture pack that I ever really liked and used. I envied your textures then, something that continues to this day. It was pretty much what inspired me to start texturing. That was when I din't understand about outdated textures ("why does the trapdoor/hatch have the redstone texture?") MCPatcher, ("What's up with those bricks?") or higher resolution textures. ('It just looks like it has more pixels in it!")
Glad you like the ores, they seem a bit controversial, but I like them, so they'll stay.
I hope it does get attention... I have a fear that it might be one of those packs that has a small cult of 3-4 people that like it, but not really anyone else. Not that I'm obsessed with popularity or anything, I would texture even if I couldn't share it, but you know.. who doesn't care a little bit. I'm afraid it's just to dark. People don't seem to like dark packs as much.
Anyway, thanks for all of the kind words, it really means a lot to me, especially coming from you.

...and your pack was even better in game, so I'm looking forward to trying out your new things.
No need to thank me, zamaj. I just think it's important to encourage new talent who are actually being creative. Putting their imagination to good use, rather than re-using textures from other packs (as in creating mixpacks, some of which are indeed refreshingly good, but not necessarily original), making endless medieval fantasy packs (not that there's anything wrong with the theme, as that's what Minecraft is, essentially) or just another simple edit of vanilla Minecraft textures (some are actually really good and clever, so I'm not getting at the idea of simple packs). What I like to see most of all, are packs that take people in new directions and create their own unique atmosphere, and I think yours does that.
I'm glad you said you'd make the textures whether people download or not, because that's the most important reason of all, it will keep it refreshingly original and will keep you going despite what anyone says. It's better to have users who like what you do rather than trying to win users by always giving them what they want.
@ Minihilly- Yes, sorry for the slow updates. By screenshots do you mean actual in-game screenshots? Because I have individual blocks and textures shown in the OP... as well as the enderman, which no one seems to have noticed...
Looking forward to your next update Zamaj, sorry not been getting on to peoples posts as much been very focused on CH.
Can't wait to try out your latest creations love the drawings above! looking forward to your KZ.png
I see the Glimmar man has visted gives a great feeling doesn't it I also think this is going to be bit of a dark horse and be something many want to get their hands on, its giving something different and also wonderfully delivered in execution.
Your enderman is incredibly sinister! I think it's that totally original hood that does it. Hooded figures always give me the shivers. Good stuff, zamaj.
Thanks Glimmar, that's exactly the reaction I was going for.
Also, I wanted to share a screenshot I took after working for like 6 hours today on a massive update. It's truly a wonderful feeling when you realize that you actually love playing with your own texture pack.

I know what you mean. You have to mostly love your work, barring those frustrating work sessions involving cobble and other repetitive textures, as it's what keeps you going to make more. Without enjoying building with my own textures, I'd have long since departed these shores.
Yes, and I have plenty of those frustrated work sessions (cobble is my least favorite texture to make, I can never seem to get it right, but yesterday I tweaked the old cobble and it's now one of my favorite textures!) but they really make it feel great when you have a work session where everything you make is just turning out well. Yesterday I zoomed out from the terrain.png and thought, "Wow, It's actually starting to look like a actual terrain.png with it's own 'feel' to it." Too bad that won't happen anymore with 1.5...
OOooh that is a sinister looking Enderman lovet it! Loving the hooded style....... reminds me i must finish my hooded skelly i started months ago.
Do you have a theme for MOBs? I know they will all be dark but like an art style you want to carry through that fits the steam punk.
Nice one on the CTM glass also.
I'm actually going to do them in more of a fantasy/fairy tale style. I know that's a bit vague, but I'm not really completely sure about what each is going to be yet.
Here's what I'm thinking so far:
Enderman: What I have right now or this:
Creeper: Some sort of creepy reptilian creature.
Zombie: Pretty traditional zombie.
Skeleton: Pretty traditional, probably more "sinewy."
Zombie pigman: No idea.
Various other Nether mobs: No ideas.
Wither: Looks sort of like the alien- http://www.wallchan.com/images/sandbox/1305844213-alien-movie-wallpaper.jpg
You nearly gave me a heart attack there, zamaj! For a full 10 secs I thought you meant Minecraft 1.6 had been released and somehow I'd missed the release of 1.5.

Oh- sorry. Yeah, Victoriacraft 1.6. Because of course Mojang release two updates in two weeks...

That's right, CTM!
The glass was killing me, and it still needs tweaking, but it works.
You can be expecting to see a lot more. I'm addicted.
