With 1.7, you can make sort of mini-packs to customize your resource pack by just downloading them separately for those who want them.
For example... i have a version of my pack called grayslots edition. It stems from the fact that some guy on reddit a while back said that he couldn't use my pack due to the background of the GUI being reddish, and his colorblindness making it really hard to see anything on a reddish background. So i made gray slots edition, which is a separate version of my pack that uses a gray metal background for the GUI instead of the red velvet.
Now... usually when i update the pack, i have to upload an entirely seperate version of the pack to just change a few GUI elements for gray slots edition. This time i released gray slots edition as an addon pack. It contains only the GUI files that i changed to have gray slots and nothing more. It can be downloaded separately to be put above the actual pack in the load order so it overrides the GUI. This makes it more appealing to everyone i think, since some people might want to try gray slots edition as a matter of personal taste, but might not think it's worth downloading an entire other pack just to try it.

Yep. I intend to make an add-on that make Lithos either more Faithful or less Faithful -- depending on the outcome of a ongoing, closely contested poll in my thread.
I was thinking about renaming my texture pack, Audi Ventus. For me, it sounds too much like the car brand and thus, when searching for it on Google, one often received results about that.
I would just like to know about the possible problems this may have.
Has anyone got any tips on animating water, at 64x or above? This is my fifth attempt now, and nothing I try looks good at all.
Yes! I have no idea how to animate, so I made up my own cheap method:
- The idea is to have just 2 different images of a water, A and B.
- Put layer B above A, so it covers A completely.
- Now duplicate this pair of images X times. (I suggest 20)
- Each AB-pair should be placed below the previous pair so it makes an animation series.
- Last step is to gradually make every B-layer with lower and lower opacity (5% lower for each pair if you have 20 pairs).
(So your animation will just result in two images alternating by a slow fade)
- Now make a copy of all these layers and merge them. Hide your non-merged backups. In photoshop you can accomplish this with just one hotkey-command: ctrl+alt+shift+E
- Apply desired transparency on your merged series of images. (I'd recommend around 70% depending on your pack).
Hope it helps! Make sure A and B are different enough, but also the same style. I find it easy to just rotate A 180 degrees and use it as my B-image.
I've just had a look through the properties template. You can't do it. You should definitely suggest it on the mcpatcher thread though. That would be an excellent feature. Nether skyboxes would be nice as well. Oddly enough, the end sort of supports a skybox by default.

In a way, but it is darkened by quite a bit in-game.

Other packs could make seasonal add-ons, etc.
I was considering doing a japanese theme as an add on since I used to have a popular japanese pack and I kinda feel like making more japanese styled textures.
For the moment I'm making some alternate tall grass and misc foliage textures to go in a pack though, just for those who like thinner grass rather than the bulky designs I currently have. The add-on pack idea is going to become a big thing methinks!
Itsoo - A bit darker in the eyes personally... Might I suggest something of a bluish black. It would amplify the greens a bit more.
13th - I was thinking about that whole 'addon' or 'plugin' textures also. Might be easy to pull off Mod Texture Packs for specific mods. Also yes YES Must have Nether Skybox >:D, Give me fuel give me fieah!
Also got a new painting done up both for Nov 1st Selfportrait Day, and to put in my pack. Trying to put in in a 3h2w painting but there's not that kind of slot for em XD I'll probably replace one of the 4w with a nice wood boarder to include some of my older SPs XD

That'd be really cool, but I've had problems with lag/freezing when a skybox appears. It would kinda suck if there was a huge lag spike every time you switched biomes...
Here is a tiling version of my stone can anyone please pick out where the tiling error is?
The four large dark squares make a tiling error I believe, I see nothing else major. I really like the colors you chose they have a very earthy tone to them.

I used neocubes( whatever his name is) pallet. It's a good pallet.
The reason there is a tiling error is because there are no highlights near that section in red, which makes it have a vertical tilling error. Hope this helps.

The big dark square on the right is a tiling error because the size is not uniform with the sizes of the other squares, so it draws your eye to it and creates a visual pattern. It also aligns vertically with the light square below it, aligns horizontally with the light pixel to the left of it.
Plus, much aligning, I'll just show you:
Things lining up are bad. Uniformity is key, here.... you want things to be uniform is size, shape, and spacing, with a minimal (not 0!) amount of variation. It takes a little work and a lot of patience, but if you do it right things won't tile so horribly.
Also, the worst aligning is when the pixels are the same color. If you have a high concentration of 1 set of pixels tiling alright, it's fine if it lines up with pixels from another set of pixels. But when you have large pixel clusters lining up, that's what makes it really bad.

You're onto my plan!
I was thinking of doing a christmas addon.
Is there a way to have biome-specific skyboxes?

One hellova signature to put in your pack huh?
