Welcome to the Monthly Texturing Challenge #4!
It isn't really monthly, but who cares?!
Introduction:
There have been many challenges. Some are based around palettes, others based around style, and some even based around sound. Many of those challenges were a bit too constrictive for my tastes though. Either the palette didn't work for me at all, or the time ran out too soon. The idea for this challenge is to create a texture pack that uses a limited palette throughout the entire texture pack, just like many famous pixel art pieces. But instead of providing the palette for you to use, you must make one yourself. This would mean that you can adjust the colors to your liking, and still be following the rules. You may use a palette someone else made, as long as it stays within the color limit. I think that this will be a fun experience for the participants because it remains challenging, while still keeping room for creativity.
So, whenever you are ready, get started! But I would start soon if I were you, as the deadline is January 5th.
Deadline: All entries due by January 5th, voting poll ends on January 10th.
Rules:
1. ALL textures must be made by you for this contest. This means no using others' textures, or textures you made for other things. Any textures proven to be belonging to others will be disqualified.
2. You must stay within the 32 color limit. If you go over, your entry will be disqualified.
3. You must submit your entry by Jan. 5th. No entries will be accepted after that date.
4. No flaming or unnecessarily harsh criticism, be nice. You will be disqualified if you make comments that are too rude, we want to keep this thread civil.
5. All textures must be up to date with the latest Minecraft version. We will not accept any out dated packs.
6. Have fun! though it may be challenging, don't let this become a chore. At least try to enjoy yourself.
Palettes: Please submit yours in case someone else would like to use it.

Man can't people come up with their own ideas? You're just copying Steels old topic :/
How is this a copy at all? The only thing that is the same is you submit a palette. You don't have to use other's palettes, and you don't even HAVE to submit your palette. It is just an option I am offering for those who cannot create thier own. And the focus of the simple pack showdown was to make a good simple pack, the focus of this challenge is to make a pack using as small ammount of colors.
Also:
Thus, the awesome Peyonisgreat and the mighty Steelfeathers hereby challenge YOU, texture pack maker, to rise up and defeat us and your compatriots in the ultimate test of simple packing skill!!
I for one am definitely interested. It has seemed that past challenges are either too limited in their palettes, involve the use of poor color choices, or simply contain a restriction that is unappealing.
Here in the grand scheme of things is a challenge that allows for originality and could result in a unique group of texture packs.

I really like the idea, it's not to restricting, but just restricting enough. I will try to do this, but I may end up not due to time constraints. However, seeing as Christmas break is coming up soon I will hopefully be able to complete it.
If it's just the terrain, I'm all in
Though a shame it's restricted to only 16x
Yeah, I know. But if you look at several past challenges, the winners were usually the higher res packs. It isn't quite as hard to create a pack with a palette in higher res either.

Well, let's hope you can finish.

I would, but I'm already committed to the Painting Palette Challenge- and my own pack, Victoriacraft, of course.
Also, the 16x limitation kind of deters me- you can still get quality pixel art with 32x and not have to much of an advantage over the 16x people.

I don't know how HD packs are easier to make with palettes than native, since the difference is that to make use of it, you need to squeeze more detail out of the same palette, but if that is the restriction, then I might consider attempting it. The last challenge I saw I turned down because I didn't have time, but I might now that Christmas break is near. You could consider me joined for now, but I can't promise that I will finish anything.

Yeah, I think I may partake in this.
I've been wanting to get some practice in with low color count. Haven't done any in a long while. Maybe I can make a decent palette!

The thing about 32x is that you can blend colors easier, and you just have a bit more room. I may change the rule if more people say they would like above 16x packs though.

27 colors, not counting the vertical line and to the right.
Needs red which can be used for netherrack, flowers, redstone everything. netherbricks, sand and sandstone in some cases and there are probably other things it could be used for.
I would get rid of some of those darker tones down the bottom too, they are really, really similar so they're kinda unnecessary... Also, only one set of browny colours could make logs and other wood textures mixing with dirt and stuff a little tricky.

I meant not Higher Res, but Lower Res

Maybe you can do a faux 8x or something.

Here is what I've got so far. I know that it is lacking, but I am really starting to feel the restraints of only 32 colors now...
Yeah, that could be good
