This is (will be) a community where texture artists can share pixel art for use in minecraft, allowing for a wider variety of unique art styles in your game (and, oh yeah, a lot of people will finally be able to use something other than default). Membership is open to anyone with only a few stipulations:
1: Your first submission must be something that you, yourself, use. There will be no submission of shoddy textures for the purpose of gaining access to other people's work.
2: Geometric art won't be accepted. Let's be honest here, anyone can do that. (I present to you: "Red Square", a masterpiece of passion trapped within the rigid walls of society.)(exceptions are possible, if I'm impressed.)
3: Credit must still be given by linking to the community and naming the featured artists in the thread for your pack, and within a text file alongside the kz.png.
I want to join, but I don't actually make art to use myself. (Somehow I never thought of it :blink.gif:) I think it would be more fun to give textures to others.

I promise to use effort, though!
I could very easily make an exception for you. That rule is to keep out freeloaders.
1. Does the resolution have to be kept to 16x16? I prefer to use 32x32, but I'll still join if we have to use 16x16.
2. Does the paintings have to be paintings? Or can they be the home improvement stuff you see sometimes?
3. What was my last question gonna be again?
Edit: Oh, right.
4. Since you apparently don't want the textures to be here for the entire community of the Minecraft Forums, where will we be posting them?
1: No, whatever resolution you like.
2: Damn, I knew I forgot something. I'm gonna say no, because those kind of textures tend to be specific to the theme of a pack.
3: You were curious what they put in fake mac and cheese
4: Here. It's running on an honor system. As such, I spose people could volunteer their textures to be freely available.
What are all the resolutions possible? I'll resize and I might make a different painting with a better design and art
Anything that is something you can get to by repeatedly multiplying twos by twos.
For example, 16x16 is default, and is gotten to by 2x2x2x2. I think 128 by 128 is the highest you can go before it's barely useable by anyone. (And even that's pushing it.)
There's also some other shapes of paintings that would be like rectangles of these. For example, I think that with 16 by 16 resolution, you can have 16 by 32 paintings, 32 by 16 paintings, 32 by 32 paintings, 48 by 64 paintings, and probably a couple others I missed.
Edit: kabonos did a much better explanation just below me.

Default resolutions are (length x height) 16x16, 32x32, 64x64, 16x32, 32x16, 64x32, and 64x48. Larger versions are acceptable if you multiply the resolution by a power of two, within reason.

Hmm, if 512x is highest res tex pack, and I wanna do a square painting, and there are paintings that take 4 blocks (I think), and 512x512 is 262144px (I think), that will make an awesome painting :biggrin.gif:

I don't see any problem with that.
Edit: in fact, there's a fair chance you might be able to find someone to turn your drawings into pixel art too.

There's yet more to come!

What's wrong with others getting some pretty pictures to put in their Minecraft?

This is for a community, the members of which may use the textures in their own packs.
Nothing. But I know a lot of people want to see some price paid for their labor.
OK, but a few questions.

And we will start right now?

Nope. Started two hours ago.

?
I'm not sure you understand what the kz.png is for.
At 96x96 pixels, that image doesn't fit into any standard pack
