This is a texture pack that I've been working on for several weeks. It's aim is to create a super realistic, yet easy-on-the-eyes Minecraft experience!!
WHAT'S THAT? A CONTEST!?!!?!
Yep!! I'm holding a contest for anyone who would like to be a part of this texture pack!! Everyone is free to enter!! Heck, tell your friends about it even!
So what's the contest?
Well, it's simple! I need designs for the in-game paintings, and I'd like you to contribute them! Simply take a picture in game while using this texture pack that you think would make a good painting, and PM it to me! Your shot could end up as one of the paintings in the final version of the pack!
After enough entrees have been submitted, I'll select the best ones and include them in the pack, with your name written in the corner of the painting!
How do I submit my screenshot?
Just send me a PM on this forum, or email me at [ockniel/at/Gmail/dot/Com] with a link to your image, and I'll add you to the contestants! I suggest using an image hosting website like imgur.com! Be sure to include the name you'd like me to use if you win!
How many screenshots can I submit?
As many as you'd like!
What should the screenshot be of?
Anything you'd like! It could be your awesome house, a beautiful picture of the scenery in your world, or even just you or your friends goofing around! Be as creative as you like!
Good luck everybody!!!

KNOWN BUGS:
Glass is invisible when viewed through water/rain. - This is a minecraft limitation! I can't fix it, I'm sorry!
Nether Quartz and Nether Ore have no texture. - My bad! I'm sorry, I'll fix it in the next update! (yay, we're back to default textures! They'll be updated soon, but better than nothing!)
The glass is all opaque/sky isn't working/half the textures are missing. - Make sure you have the latest version of MCPatcher installed and patched! You can find it here!
The game lags when switching from sunny to raining, and from day to night. - This one looks like it may be a shortcoming of MCPatcher, but I plan to look into it further to see if there's anything I can do. It has to do with the gaming unloading and reloading the 4 layers of sky textures displayed at once.
SUGGESTIONS:
Some people aren't a fan of the break animation. if more people speak up, I'll look into adjusting it!
Some aren't a fan of the redstone block texture. I'm a pretty big fan of this one, I wanted to make it appear to be made of sand/powder, while glowing from the inside. It doesn't tile as nicely, but I like the effect it has on it's own.
TEXTURES YET TO BE COMPLETED:
All items
All icons
All weapons
All Armor
99% of menus
Just a few more blocks to go!
All Mobs
Ores - (currently in pack, but will be remade)
(if you aren't sure if something has been completed or not, send me a PM and I'll let you know!)
SCREENSHOTS:
I'm now including a Beta download. THIS IS NOT THE FINAL VERSION!
The pack is compatible with Minecraft v 1.5.0 and above! You will need to patch minecraft using MCPatcher to use this texture pack.
Someone requested a donation button, so here's a paypal link, just in case you feel compelled to throw money at me (if you do, thank you thank you thank you, but it's not necessary!)
Check back for (almost) daily updates with pictures of new textures and progress!
I know there are a lot of realistic texture packs, but I'm aiming to make the best one! I was inspired to try this after downloading and playing several of the more popular realism packs and thinking "Hey, I could do that maybe"! Anyways, if you've got some suggestions for ways to personalize it, I'm all ears!!!
So far so good.I'm liking the sreenshots you've got so far and the fact that you've taken photograghs and manipulated them and made them you'r own is cool. Not sure what you could do to make it stand out from other packs but the direction you're headed with it is a good one so far.Maybe you could make it based off of the walking dead. The items and weapons and some of the blocks could be based off of what survivors would find left after all hell breaks loose on eath. Or just do a fantasy themed pack. What ever idea you choose to do your off to a good start....just change the ores and kind of make them seem like parts of them blend in with the rock and parts of them stick out from the rock....
Thanks for the feedback!! I definitely agree on the ores comment, that's one texture that's been giving me a lot of trouble. I've designed like 3 different itirations, and haven't liked any of them yet Hopefully I'll get something good! And yeah, I'm not sure about the "stand out" feature, I'll have to keep thinking. Probably not walking dead, though, since I've never seen the show!
Here's another glamor shot just so that I'm putting something interesting to look at in this post!
It took me a while, but I finally got a moving layer of clouds in the sky! So now, not only does it look good, but it moves, too!!
The clouds are perfect.Have you done anything with the night sky yet or maybe sun flares or anything like that?Since you're going for realistic tray to make the fire and water and lava as real in terms of movement and just over all look.I got you book marked just waiting for a download link to try out what you have so far.
Amazing texture pack. I'll be keeping my eye on this one; keep it up! Seems everything tiles well, although the Emerald Ore could use a bit more shine.
I'm definitely going to be redoing the minerals. I agree with you namone that some of them need more shine!
hika, I've done some stuff with the night sky, I'll post a picture here:
I've got some clouds that float around in the sky, but none of them are in these pictures. I'm still tweaking them a bit.
And finally guys, I'm trying to mess around with a texture for the furnace, but I'm not sure if I'm feeling this. Anyone want to give me some input? Is this crap, should I restart it, or tweak it?

Personally I like the Industrial style more.Who says just because minecraft has furnaces that look a certain way that you have to follow their lead. You can make any block look like anything you want. You could make the furnace look like a demonic face. The top sectiontion that you have could be where the eyes are and the bottom opening could be the mouth.

Yeah, I know I can go in another direction with it, but I've been trying to stay true to the original texture pack to an extent. Also, I want the materials to check out, also. If you make the furnace with stone, I'd like the end result to be a stone furnace!
Here the stone is kind of clashing with the gravel and the cobble. Any possibility you could darken it a bit to lower the contrast between them?
Yeah, I see what you mean. I'll look into tweaking it a bit.
Surprising to start in the forum with a realism pack which looks just as good as any popular ones. If you plan to continue work, the GLSL shaders mod would look nice with this.

Thank you for the compliment! I had no idea you could achieve bump mapping in this game. That would be fantastic! Oh boy, we'll see if I can figure it out

This... this texture pack is amazing. I will be downloading it the moment a link is posted. In the mean time, I have bookmarked this thread.

Here's another screenshot of some shrubbery!
And kiwi, sort of. They all have photos as bases, but they're edited to the point where they're borderline "hand textured".
Nice... No criticisms here.

Otherwise I love this pack. Im getting it as soon as I can
Edit: Now that I've actually looked at it more I quite like it.
If I helped then please
