This is all still in a state of flux with things changing daily.
EDIT: MCPatcher was made for 1.6 but Mojang have release 1.6.1, I'm not sure if it's compatible or not.
EDIT 2: MCPatcher works fine with 1.6.1 but there's a bug where the horses and character textures are missing.
Updated the test version with a total reorganization of the CTM directory, all random textures now work fine, I'm also planning on adding a few more.
This was a big help in many different ways but especially helped with the mod using the default font; I've never been a huge fan of the custom one... as the spacing and size always seemed off.
I've taken a moment to optimize filesize(s). While I'm not contributing to or changing the pack's pixels, this makes the filesize a bit smaller overall and easier to download (especially for those of us with slower connections). The process is lossless, so it retains any/all pixels, colors, quality, and transparency, just literally takes up less space.
Original Filesize(s):
Unzipped
71.28 MB
Zipped
52.14 MB
Optimized Filesize(s):
Unzipped
49.40 MB [Saved 21.88 MB (30.70%)]
Zipped
42.09 MB [Saved 10.05 MB (19.27%)]
In short, I've managed to shave off 10.05 MB from the download size, and 21.88 MB for those who have to work with it on their computer. Is there somebody in particular I should send this to? I don't want to simply distribute it here without proper permissions, so I only want to send it to the creator/maintainer of the mix if they want it. You can reply to me here and I will check back occasionally, or you can find me on IRC of the same name. I'm almost always in #mcf_modlist on esper.net.
Hello Everyone, The John Smith Legacy texture pack, has always been my favorite texture pack, and I haven't had any reason to post about it (or anything for that matter,) But I just noticed that with the new resource pack, the oak wood planks texture has been changed, and it doesn't really look as good as it did before. It looks really blurry, and not quite as detailed in my opinion, I know that I could easily change this for myself, but there are some lets players I know who use this pack, and probably wouldn't change it, and plus I'm just simply curious. thanks!

You can post it here on the forums. it wouldn't be a problem

I've just uploaded the 1.6 pack to the Johnsmith site and it has the same oak planks as always. If there are any other issues let us know and they will be fixed ASAP.
Thanks, I had been using the one downloaded from JimStoneCraft's website above, but now everything's looking fine now.
P.S. While looking through the texture files, I noticed that the opaque jungle leaves look the same as the opaque oak leaves. I'm sorry to bother you again, but is there a reason for this, and if not, could I change it, and upload it to be a part of the pack? (If it's of acceptable quality of course).
I overestimated how much I saved a bit, as I accidentally zipped it in the RAR format. The amount zipped that was actually saved is 9.25 MB (%17.73). I've put it into its correct container.
I noticed that the opaque jungle leaves were the same as the opaque oak leaves, so I decided to take the transparent jungle leaves, and fix it to become opaque, please consider putting this in the pack.

Hey, I'm a Mapmaker and wanted to ask you if i can use the Textures form the old 1.5.2 Version, import them into a Ressource pack what users of my map can download cause i want to chage sound so i can use custom sounds in my map. Actualy I wanted to recommend your Texurepack but I can't do custom sounds without a Ressourcepack. I will credit you by putting your name in the Name of the Pack and I will put a sign in the gamelobby of my map. i hope i can use your Textures.
Greetings, PvMind
As long as you credit Johnsmith and don't put it behind something like an adfly link that is completely fine.
Unzip and drop it in your mods folder of your texturepack.
Kazekai, now that 1.6 is out, are you planning on continuing your work on the BoP TP? I'm currently planning out my next server, and I'd love to add that one to the list of mods.
I've been adapting another pack's horses to fit into the JS pack. I'm not going to post that here, since it's 90% someone else's work, but what I do have is a nice JS-style donkey/mule chest texture. This would need to be photoshopped into the mule and donkey skin textures, it's not a unique texture in the resource pack structure.
So it's not a simple fix, but it'll save people time when they work on horse textures.
While your texture is nice, these have already been done by me during the snapshots (6th May 2013), the same time I made the horse armor.
But I do think the chests in general are still a little wrong, maybe a pair of saddle bags would look better, I started with the chest as it was quite easy to make.
'Twiggholmes'
Made a video for this texture pack showing why and why not download this pack. File is still corrupted and can't be expanded on mac.
Sorry I'm no pro, but a video needed to be made (wish I had more practice).
You sure like to whine a lot. Accusing the pack of 'being harmful to your computer' when really, its just crappy archive tools made for Mac.

Probably. I didn't even realize 1.6 was out actually, haven't paid attention to Minecraft since I got a new 3DS game. :V I'm pretty slow with updates but if anyone else wants to edit stuff, that would probably speed things up.

It would probably be more constructive (and less rude) to offer an alternative archive software, or suggest saving packs in one that works on multiple formats.
I archive everything in RAR format, I can't stand zip or 7zip personally. Does RAR work properly on other platforms besides Windows?
Noticed that using the FTB Launcher version, the MineFactory Reloaded bricks [glowstone, ice, lapis, obsidian, slab, and snow] were missing soI took the liberty of making some textures [recolour edits from existing] for myself and friends and to share.
Screenshot :
I'm especially happy with the ice and snow.
the lapis is a mediocre edit as I didn't want to copy the current lapis block completely, so this is a lighter/brighter version. There are minor tiling issues along the side seams, however the original texture was not my own, these are merely recolours to suit the needs of the mod.

Anyways, you can find it here. I hope this helps.
Looks good, I'll add it in the next update.
Nice thanks for taking the time to clean it up.

The block112.properties has some wrong information.
assets/minecraft/mcpatcher/ctm/nether_brick
Change it from:-
to:-
Or you could download the pack again as it's been updated with some new stuff.
