- The sunflowers look amazing
- I think the problem with the tulips (otherwise they look great) is they are too contrasted for your pack and mainly too clean. I think putting some holes and tears on the petals might fix both problems. (But to me the worst thing about Minecraft flowers in general is how they make an X shape. That ruins anything that is not straight. And straight flowers don't suit many pakcs. =/ )
- And I have a question I am hoping you can answer: I tried adding biome-specific grass into a pack I'm working on as well, but it doesn't seem to work (1.7.2, MCPatcher). I can't see anything wrong with how I did it, so would it be possible for you to post the .properties code you are using? I'd appreciate it.
Sure, here's the one i used for savanna grass:
matchTiles=grass_top
method=repeat
tiles=0-15
height=4
width=4
biomes=Savanna SavannaM SavannaPlateau SavannaPlateau M
The thing you're most likely doing wrong is forgetting that each biome has many variations, and you must list them all for it to work.
I think i'll redo all the saplings before the next release... and most of the trees for that matter.
I had an idea for swamps... dark gray bubbling water, basically tar... long, stringy deep green grass with mud patches and random ctm'd dead fish (someone suggested that i think)
But swamp trees... not oak. Weeping willow. I could use ctm to make the bottoms of the blocks missing, but disable back face culling (do leaves even have that?) and use randomized vertical ctm. So there will be strands of leaves at varying lengths making up the bottoms of the leaves, rather than any sort of bottom texture. It would look a bit weird looking directly up from under it, but i think it would be neat from the sides, which is pretty much where one normally views trees from.
Quick question, from one texture artist to another? How'd you get those backgroundless mob pictures? I've been trying to figure out how to do that, and nobody will tell me. I've heard Minecraft Skin Viewer and Novaskin, but I know for a fact that neither of those work for HD mobs.

Really? Because every time I try to load HD textures on that site they get all muddy, and when I try to load my resource pack it says "zip outdated. convert to resource pack" (which is obviously incorrect) and then shows the mob texture previews as being vanilla.

Ah, i see your problem. Don't try to upload your resource pack. Instead click one of the mobs on the page i linked you to.
Then select the resolution of the mob you want to upload. The actual resolution of the texture sheet, not the resolution of your pack. See here i've selected 512 for my 64x pack, because that's how large the actual dimension of it is. (red arrow)
Then open the texture file directly by clicking the folder icon (green arrow)
Then up in the top right, you can click the photo button to get a screenshot. Rotate and zoom it to your liking first.

Hmm... still no. Its loading, but the textures are still muddy, especially when the correct resolution is selected. What browser do you use?
I decided that the packed ice i did was horrible, and remade it... while i was at it, i redid regular ice as well, and lightened snow a bit, because i realized actual ash is light gray, not dark gray.
Regular ice now has frostier bits and more transparent bits.
So... basically, i got carried away and overhauled another biome.

it actually looks kinda better now. what is there left for the update to come?
I redid packed ice one last time, and this time... i think i like it. I realized i was on the right track before, with white cracks, but not perfect... ice does crack white, but the crack goes deep and fades out. So here's another version.

Looks like another SEAL OF APPROVAL blowing your way. It is excellent.
Desaturated them a bit, made them veiny, added some shading to give the petals more direction... better now?
Compare:

Actually, it was novaskin. You want to use this page specifically: http://minecraft.novaskin.me/texturepacks
Upload your pack there, then open the mobs.

Firefox. Just keep selecting higher resolutions and re-uploading until it looks right. It really sounds like you're using the wrong resolution.
Alright, I think I've got it working now. Thanks

As well as packed ice:
Also, i have this here new and improved bedrock texture that is most certainly not just a color inverted packed ice:
Regular ice now has frostier bits and more transparent bits.

Bein' normal for suckers.
As far as new 1.7 stuff: one flower (the small blue one, i forget the name of it), acacia planks, tall grass, stained glass, and the new fish.
As far as stuff i forgot about and need to add: horse armor icons, empty armor slot icons.
As far as stuff i'm still going to redo before the next release because i can: Swamps, jungles, and vines... Possibly the regular grass as well.
And to compare, an actual photo of cracked ice:
Also, the ice spikes biome at sunset...
Yep. I am redoing most of the old plants as well as adding the new ones.
