Oh boy, I can't wait to see what you do for this next chunk of textures, I'm really excited to see what you come up with. As for the logs, I really like them, and the cactus looks pretty good, although I would like to see what you could do making it have the spiky instruments like you suggested.
All together, this pack is coming along very nice, and I can't wait to see the finished project.

watch the thread then judging by your avatar, i think you'll REALLY like some of the subtle references i have planned.
also, if you download the test pack, or look at the screenshot preview for the test pack, you will see the new and improved cactus.
cant wait to check it out . Also its 00:39AM here.
Edit: It looks amaz..............................................................(this is the short version) . The creative inventory looks a lot better now when most of the items at the top are filled(not if you scroll down especially if you have 40 mods installed).
Edit 2: Did I mention its 00:53AM now so if I say something stupid dont hate on me(this does not count).
yeah, i know how ya feel, i have redpower 2 installed, and it adds loads of new items. ive not really gotten a chance to make use of that mod, but from what i can tell it seems fun. maybe ill support it in my texture pack one day XD
they were actually one of the hardest things to come up with a design for, but i was in an irc chat, and someone suggested i do something with cargo nets for the, and somehow, that lead to this, you can see remnants of it in the vent bit.
the idea is that its a round sealed tube with a platform on top that allows it to float and have something to stand on, but a vent so no air pockets get trapped and make it unstable.
Ok, for my criticism, I think tall grass should look a little more worn of and the pine sappling ... ya you should tweak it a little. Also something I continue to forget to tell you is that diamond blocks have too much circles if you ask me. Other than that everything is fine.
Edit: Another thing I forget to say was that the background sound of the oblivion sound pack goes really nicely with this.
ok, worn how? like... blotchier color, like the final stage of wheat has, making it seem dead? or... just more wilted?
yeah for diamond blocks i had no good ideas. lets call those placeholders
i really don't know what this oblivion sound pack is, link me.
This looks awesome, can't wait for it to be finished!
Also, very interested in what the redstone torch will look like. I don't think it can get to big how thin the torch is.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Tvtropes will waste your time, so beware. Its also pretty humerous.
Hey,look at me messingaround with the little whatsits.
I plan to change the overall grass (block) texture, and make it a bit ligher. at that time ill change the tall grass's color to match. it will likely be a bit lighter.
Wow, thank you very much for pointing this out. i fixed it... not sure how i managed it though. it showed the right url, but it was hyperlinked to the old one. all the people that downloaded the wrong one will be quite pissed im sure... and it was a few. ive just checked adfly, part 3 had a lot of new downloads.

it IS possible to make a thicker torch. my regular torch is thicker than the model is, and it works fine. what happens is whatever sticks out past the model is simply flat and crosses at the corners like the flat textures used for things like tall grass and flowers does. a bit of overlap isnt really a problem imo, but too much can be. for redstone torches, im thinking they will be some sort of boiler or pressure gauge.
I laughed so hard when i saw lava for the first time and caught sight of these eyeballs in the bile.
Here is my house on a server, I am quite fond of it. I am not, however, fond of how some idiot kept throwing watermelons at my fence/door because he figured I was taking screen shots. I was surprised to see that the melon icon was not textured when the melon was. Then I realized that you probably have barely touched any of the icons yet.
Here is a picture from my in progress house in the jungle. I am very fond of the tree/paper hybrid but I feel like it should be limited to only the birch tree due to how this one appears in the jungle biomes where darker leaf textures are used. It seems to clash very badly and makes the biome look disorganized and sloppy as seen below. It is just so overpowering.
As for ideas:
I could see the "regular" tree having the appearance of the trees being turned to ore/rusting metal, or a more twisted vine/tentacle appearance. Maybe even have leaves with artifacts/ "random junk" stuck in it with green or olive/mottled foliage so it looks cohesive in the biome. I don't see any where else it looks so oddball except in the jungles.

ive not textured any items at all. anything that appears textured in the inventory is textured automatically from terran.png
anyway, as for trees, i can't really do a whole lot about that since birch and oak trees actually share a leaf texture, and i just have the option to tint them with biome shading. well, i really can only do this with the birch tree, since it has its own shader file, oak trees share foliagecolor.png which colors tall grass, ferns, oak trees, vines, and a few other things, so ive simply omitted this file so i can freely color.
really all i could do to even out jungle biomes is perhaps tint the vines a bit greener, as this would likely tie the different tree types together better. there's no way im going to change the birch tree texture, since its probably my favorite texture concept ive come up with so far... well, ever. however, i have heard from a not so reliable source that in 1.3 there might be a new leaf texture for birch trees. (meaning oak and birch will each have their own leaf texture) ive not been able to confirm this, but if its true, ill definately change the oak tree's textures entirely. i had only intended this to be for birch to begin with, and i was disappointed to find out that it went for both and just tried to make the best of it.
but to be fair, my texture pack is meant to have a disorganized look. go to the nether, youll see what i mean
===========unrelated update below===========
after realizing how crappy and out of place my cobblestone looked, i remade it, essentially overhauling the look of the game in survival mode, since pretty much everything is cobblestone in survival.
i kept to my original idea (sharp rock chips sort of piled together), just improved on the design. thoughts?
Aaah yeah understandable. I thought they might be connected. Personally I find the vines hilarious as they are but I could see an "alternate" option textures where the looked like wires or red stone cables. I will keep throwing up screenshots as updates come. The new cobble is quite nice, not that I didn't like the first. Will fit in my mine craft skin I use for the pack later. Can barely wait for melon slices that don't look silly in photombs

my pack contains no redstone. it will be replaced with steam power. pipes.
not sure how vines can be hilarious though. they are... not so much vines as roots. fig tree roots to be more specific.
My god the more I look at this the more I realise I should get my ass together and re-do half the textures on my pack X3
Beautiful work in every aspect friend, my hat off to you.
ive come to the conclusion that a texture pack is an endless project. there is no such thing as a complete texture pack, in terms of updates. but its so much more than that... to a creator, an open ended project can never be finished, no matter how much has gone into it, there's always so much more. be careful.
That redstone torch is amazing! How long did that take?
I just got around to testing your latest release of the test pack. I am definitely setting aside a world on our server specifically for use with this pack... it's going to need it.

i spent all day on it. but if i were actually able to just focus on something and get it done, and not procrastinate, it would have been about 3-4 hours of actual work.

The second I saw the jungle trees I fell instantly in love.
Edit: Oh my god I just noticed something.
When you went to link to your 4th pack update you accidentally still are hotlinking to the 3rd test pack.
Until the first post is fixed here is a link to the right download:
