Ok, so i downloaded mcpatcher and when i open it it crashes almost instantly. Please help
Care to post a crash report? Details of your computer? Maybe a step-by-step description of what you did? Anything that would help us give an actual answer?
Saying "It doesn't work" isn't helpful. Please help us help you.
So, i had a really neat idea. I'd make birch leaves sort of transparent, layered over each other with the bottom most leaves showing through, and the entire texture being a bit transparent. It made sense to do this using a renderpass. Anyway, i tried it and it sort of works, but i need some help.
Look here:
This one is using a test texture of some blobs overlapping each other creating different opacities. The opacity works fine, but...
Look at the jungle trees in the background. Now, here it is without the new transparent birch texture:
Again, look at the jungle trees. In the second image, the jungle leaves are the correct texture, which use repeat ctm. In the image with the transparent birch leaves applied, the jungle leaves just use the base texture (i haven't got around to adding the new jungle leaves to the textures folder yet)
So basically, the transparent birch leaves are cancelling out my ctm on all other types of leaves. Also, it seems to have added the same renderpass layer to them, since the horizontal ctm overlay that uses renderpass 3 shows through them now.
Here's what's in the properties file:
birchleaves.propreties
Keeping this .properties file from interfering with the other leaf types, and i would also like to enable backface culling on the transparent leaves, since having them all showing through each other is a bit of a resouce hog, and creates a very unpleasent visual effect. If that's not possible, i could easily solve the issue by just increasing the opacity enough that it's opaque once it gets a few layers deep, but that's not ideal.
Also, does anyone know how to change the color overlay on melon/pumpkin stems?
...Also, does anyone know how to change the color overlay on melon/pumpkin stems?
Off the top of my head, I would have said the 'color.properties' file, but it doesn't seem to be the place at all, 'cos I checked quite a few other packs and none of those implement pumpkin stem color editing that way. Could it be edited, even if only slightly influenced, by making up a custom biome palette?

Also nice idea for the birch leaves up there.
Color.properties indicated that making stemcolor.png would fix it, unfortunately that had no effect at all when i tried it.
Something weird has been going on with MCPatcher recently. When I try to test Minecraft out, this happens:
The last thing it says is "Minecraft exited with status 1". What's status 1? And when I actually play Minecraft, nothing is patched and the sounds and textures are still the same as vanilla. This has never happened before in any previous version of MCPatcher. Why now? What is this supposed to mean?
Its not crashing. Forge is preventing a possible crash. Just run mcpatcher with a forge profile and it should take care of everything for you. If it doesn't, add "-Dfml.ignorePatchDiscrepancies=true -Dfml.ignoreInvalidCertificates=true" to the Addtional JVM arguments in your profile.

It crashed again but the command was in the log I had to add "Minecraft" in between "Invalid" and "Certificates". Thanks for the quick reply

Installed better clouds, Forge had a heart attack.

Hi there. Thank you very much for making MCPatcher available; do you think you could please answer a question for me? I'm using MultiMC 5, and if there's a way to use that with MCPatcher, for the life of me I haven't been able to find it. If this is possible, can you please tell me? Thank you very much for any assistance.
As you may have guessed, the changes in the 1.8 snapshots so far have been especially difficult to work through. The details are complicated, but nearly every aspect of rendering has been changed in some way over the past four weeks. Just when I'd finish working through the obfuscated code in one week's snapshot, the next one would come and break everything again. After a few cycles of this I've managed to catch up and take a breath. So I decided to release a beta version, but keep in mind that it is still pretty rough and that I fully expect more patcher-breaking changes from Mojang in the coming weeks.
With?

It's on the mcpatcher wiki, there's quite a lot of information on there, well worth a look

Ah, thanks. I think my color.properties must be outdated.
But do you by chance know what's going on with my leaf transparency issue? I've looked over the wiki and found nothing relevant.
