If there was some way to get wood and was more accessible/common, it would be much better. Something like a nearby island with a tree or two would be sufficient.
ikr i hate to travel all across the ocean just to get wood then come back to the mooshroom island :dry.gif:
i thought that this would be appropriate! :tongue.gif:
oh man if Notch adds biome-specific mobs to the mushroom biome
--badger (1x1x1 neutral mob that moves grass, dirt, and mycelium blocks around, makes 1x1x2 burrows that you can fall in if you're not looking where you're going. Some burrows deeper and more complex, e.g. shallow cavern tunnels. THese may contain Badger troves or chests with small treasures. Drop on kill: TBD)
--snake (hostile mob, AI & movement similar to Silverfish, pops out of mycel blocks when broken, harasses badgers and players. Drop on kill: TBD)
I'm so far pretty into the mushroom biome. It does stick out from other biomes but makes up for that by being quite rare and usually an island, so you generally have to do a lot of exploring to find one.
Aesthetically they need some work. I think the Mooshrooms are kind of funny and interesting but the texture is too bright for me. But that is what texture packs are for. I think the land is a little barren at the moment and needs to be more lush and exotic.
I'd love to see a unique tall grass type for the mushroom biome. Maybe one and two tiles tall. They could have a percentage drop of mycelium spores that would turn regular dirt blocks into the mycelium grass type, allowing you to spread the ground type to other areas.
Mycelium needs more unique effects. Maybe reverse it so it grows faster in low light conditions? How about a luminescent plant that only grows on mycelium?
Id's also love to see mushroom biomes underground. basically a large underground cavern, like a sideways ravine, filled with mushrooms and a floor of mycelium. Just as rare as regular mushroom biomes but underground.

You know what terrifies me about the mushroom biome? No hostile mobs spawn there.
That says to me that something really horrifying is eventually going to be put there. Something that will make the mooshrooms seem like a legitimate reward.
Anybody else having trouble finding the mushroom biomes? I've generated several new worlds for 1.9pre 1 and 1.9 pre2 but have yet to see mushrooms or snow, despite exploring pretty far. Are they just rarer than the others?
The Mooshrooms are just funny as hell and its no biggie making a house, just find a red mushroom and just add some floors and a door, and you got your self a house :biggrin.gif:
And just need some bowls and you got toooons of mushroom stew,
I think that they might be a bit unbalanced, being able to receive infinite mushroom soup from them, and then when you're done, you can shear them for mushrooms to grow into giant mushrooms.
Basically, once you've found the biome, you've got easy infinite food.
This is why I'm planning several new (not so cute and cuddly) mobs for that biome in a future Biome Overhaul...

but the mooshroom biomes are soo freakin' rare, it took me ages to find it.

mushroom biome : minecraft : : corruption : terraria
for those who don't understand the above, the mushroom biome is minecraft's version of terraria's corruption
regardless of the questionable nature of essentially copying terraria's content, i most definitely enjoy this new biome (now to just find one...)
its not like terraria at all because its not necessarily a 'scary' place...yet :unsure.gif:

yeah, but if it was anothe color at least we wouldnt compare. But its the exact same purple xD

I thinkz I broke it...
(Note: no mob breeding)

its right next to the island you spawn in, just swim across and you'll see it.
ikr, its a paradise!
