This is just something I thought to be really cool and wanted to share with all of you.
Although you can't tell from the screenshot, this is a two-tiered ravine. Basically, there's another "floor" of stone above the one I'm standing on that opens up for a bit and leads to the bottom floor.
And at the bottom I found this:
I just think that's too cool. The sun was able to shine way down into the depths of Minecraft to not only give birth to a tree, but to have that tree spawn next to a diamond ore.
Pretty neat, huh? I found this while looking for strongholds in MCEdit.

It would be even 'neater' if you gave us the seed number and location so we can experience it for ourselves.
Thanks for that. What you neglected to tell us is the other stuff to be found in this seed.
Example
x -492 ~~ y 309 small village w/- 1 wheat farm
x -660 ~~ y 97 smallish canyon
x 798 ~~ y 272 Larger village multiple wheat farms
x 552 ~~ y 603 z 24 Stronghold with mineshafts and mob spawners etc etc.
The stronghold is in fact in the canyon you mentioned. Of course now we're exploring the stronghold and have yet yo find the tree. Maybe later.
Interesting world you've found..........
Cheers.
At first, I really thought you were just trolling me with those coordinates. But now it all makes sense to me.
This was found in a world that I created before 1.8. Therefore, much of the chunks are from 1.7.3. You, on the other hand, have generated a world entirely from 1.8. So that would explain how you've been finding all of that stuff...I've yet to find a single village, mineshaft, or stronghold in this seed.
@ Zexis : If you have 1.7.3 stuff at the coordinates where the stronghold is supposed to be, you have to generate a new world with this seed. At the moment only one stronghold per map is possible. But if you do, Spaman already gave you the coords, so you do not have to search at least ^^

Actually, Mojang has moved that limit up to three per map.

Very cool.

Thank you both. I must create this world now. I swear, I play mine craft as much to sightsee as anything.
