I've been looking in 3 threads so far for some help to this problem,and I was wondering if anybody knew.

Error:

I do not know what the block. is for a red flower.

ModLoader.AddRecipe(new ItemStack(rosebush, 1), new Object[] {
"###", "XXX", "###", Character.valueOf('#'), Block.dirt, Character.valueOf('X'), Block.FlowerRed

I have tried Block.flowerred, Block.flowerRed, Block.FlowerRed, Block.redflower, Block.Redflower, Block.redFlower, Block.RedFlower, Block.flower, and Block.Flower.

Any ideas?

Next time you have an issue with not knowing the block name, look through the Block.java file first. Okay? Doing that will usually help you and waste anyones time.

I looked in the block.java and I saw plantred

I assumed it meant plant.red.

Also, plantRed does not work, neither does plantred or plant.Red.

I looked at the BlockCactus code and can find where it makes the height, can I have no clue how to extend it from 3 blocks max to 5 or 6.

And is it possible to make it sometimes drop an item, along with the cactus block?

I have not looked at the cactus coding yet, so I wouldn't know how to lengthen the natural height limit for it. Although, I do have an idea of how to make it sometimes drop another item. Try using this

    protected void dropFewItems()
    {
        int i = rand.nextInt(3);
        for(int j = 0; j < i; j++)
        {
            dropItem(Block.NameHere.blockID, 1);
        }

        	i = rand.nextInt(3);
        	for(int k = 0; k < i; k++) {
        	
        	dropItem(Block.NameHere.blockID, 1); 
        	}

Also, add this to the top of your coding

    protected void dropFewItems()
    {
        int i = rand.nextInt(3);
        for(int j = 0; j < i; j++)
        {
            dropItem(mod_KNExplorercraft.copperore.blockID, 1);
        }

        	i = rand.nextInt(3);
        	for(int k = 0; k < i; k++) {
        	
        	dropItem(mod_KNExplorercraft.tinore.blockID, 1); 
        	}

I don't think that would make it always drop cactus though. It would be more like a skeleton. Sometimes dropping bones, sometimes arrows, sometimes both, and sometimes nothing.

But I'll give it a try.

Oh, then I apologize for being rude earlier. It frustrates me when people do not look through the coding to try and solve an issue, and it seems a lot of people are doing that now.

Hmmm, your issue might be caused by it sharing file with other blocks. I doubt this will work, but try using "BlockFlower.plantRed"

Yea, I apologize for that. I took it from my mobs file, so it might not work. If it doesn't, try taking off the bottom of the coding and just adding in the rest of the coding to the main file for the Cactus.

I changed my mind. I'm just going to add a new flower for the item I wanted to drop from the cactus :tongue.gif:

I just looked at the coding to make dye, and it uses Block.plantRed for it. You might be getting errors because you haven't made a static for the Rosebush? Or did you not register it?

Hmmm, finally a tutorial on adding a overlay, I was trying to get my boomer mob to create a temporary puke overlay on the player if they are within distance.... would I need to make a new mod_Overlay type class, or could I just call the overlay() method in the entity file of the said mob?

Easy fix. Just replace soundGrassFootstep with Block.soundGrassFootstep
