I apologize that the pictures are broken, it would be better if they were still view-able. For those of you who don't want to read the huge wall of text (its a fun read), I have summarized it here: (2 paragraphs)
Server is open on this map for 1-3 weeks or so. A bedrock wall that you are not allowed to pass is made from layer 1 to layer 256, in a 350x350 area. The experiment, ironically, had 30 players. The nether is accessible, but also has a bedrock wall containing a 350x350 area. You are not allowed to leave the overworld's contained area by portaling out through the nether. Generated structures are turned off, so no nether fortresses, dungeons, villages, or strongholds. So no End, and importantly, no ender chests.
PvP, stealing, griefing, etc. is all allowed, but it neither encouraged or discouraged. This is a social experiment. How do people react to being stuck in a tiny area with limited resources? The players of this turned their land into a nuclear wasteland. By the end of the experiment there were no saplings, wood, or grass left. All resources had been stripped and taken. The 350x350 area was a stone wasteland. People ended up hiding in holes, fighting with bones, and eating rotten flesh, unable to survive the harsh night in this fallout zone.
This could be something fun for us to do down the road. How would we approach such a dilemma? Could we co-exist peacefully for the allotted amount of time? (2 weeks tops probably) Or would we turn our area into a wasteland? Would theft and murder be rampant, or would a vibrant economy arise? Could any of us CTM vets survive in the barren, regional difficulty plagued wasteland that we might create?

I going to bet that 4000 x 4000 is a large enough area that with our ~10 active players. Hybran will get a lot of diamonds, but gold and iron are renewable. We don't have nearly enough players to cause the disaster on such a large area, and even if we did, I would just go underground and hide stashes of important items all over. It's just not possible to dig out all the stone in a 4000 x 4000 world.
In addition, griefing gets you banned from this server.

Re-read it carefully Yuri. :3 I'm not saying that this could happen on the server. I'm saying that this would be fun to do for a week on a fresh map before going back to the usual map. Hence the 350x350 bedrock walls.

Heheheheh.
I'd love to do this, but it's impossible due to the "everybody on at once" thing.

Although for the best fairness, everyone should be on at once...it would be possible without. There would just be no way of properly securing valuables, as an entire base area could be stripped in the search for your hidden loot. You'd have to hide your gear very well. Plus, if this was a one-time one-week event, it would probably generate interest in actually playing, so you might see more people online.
Finally, it doesn't have to end in horror. If everyone lives peacefully and maintains a set of laws, we could survive the week without turning our land into a fallout zone. If we do manage a peaceful existence, then nobody would have to guard their stuff.
No matter what, nothing will be as good as the first experiment. However, even a rough approximation would be quite fun.
I read this quite a while ago on Reddit, and while it sounds like a blast, it can't really work for us now.
The most important thing that allowed the Experiment to work was that none of the players had played such a thing before, so they didn't know how it was going to turn out. Now that we are aware of how it goes, the game would be played entirely differently and it's likely we would turn out with completely different results.
There's also the fact that in order to keep things fair everyone had to be online at the same time, which probably won't work out for us Monumentans spanned across several time zones.

What would be the point of peace? It sounds like the chaos was the most enjoyable part of the Experiment.

You underestimate the power of humanity. All it takes is one person who steals, or one person who kills, and every peace contract goes out the window. Obviously, this would not be as good as the first experiment, because this would be an activity, not an experiment. However, it still might be fun.

Besides my previous post to Yuri, remember that when you log off, you can have your valuables on you. So although while online, this could not happen because of the lack of enderchests (no nether forts), to keep things fair, all you have to do is log off with what you want to keep.

The best strategy here would be to rush for a fortress, and build your base above nether bedrock with your painstakingly collected emeralds. And then not die, ever.
Currently trying to decide which would be better for UHC, September 28 or October 5. Both are Saturdays. Please let me know if either day is better for you, and which time would work. I'm currently thinking the match could start around 4 PM EST (9 PM GMT), but that's totally flexible.
Can any of you get on Monumenta right now? Cuz I can't.
Here's what happened. I was enlarging a map, got to 1:4 scale, didn't consider that that was the last possible scale, placed it back in the crafting table, and clicked on the map item that came up in the crafted item slot. Game crashes. Restart and try to log back on, get this screen.
I'm thinking this is just me having this issue, as it's got my username in the URL. I'll look around and see if I can do anything to solve the issue, but it might come down to cam having to do something manually if no one else can join. Really sorry if that's the case! I didn't mean to be such a bother.
EDIT: So I know all the servers are down right now apparently, but it just seems odd that it'd crash like this when I crafted an illegal map. If it is the server issue, I'll edit this post later.

The 28th is really the only one that will work, and it'd need to happen at like 7PM EST for me to even make it. I'm scheduled to work until 6PM that day, and I'm scheduled 'til 9:30PM on the 5th, so that's not a possibility.

I should be able to make both at this rate, but October 5 is preferable. Also, I would prefer 6-7pm EST, but again, 4pm should be doable...
As a side note, if you're still living at spawn, please move or we will bulldoze your house. If you aren't even coming on to do anything outside of spawn you may as well not be on this server
I can't do either so yaaay As a side note, if you're still living at spawn, please move or we will bulldoze your house. If you aren't even coming on to do anything outside of spawn you may as well not be on this server thanks
The machines are coming to spawn. Rage. Rage against the Machine.

I can't do Sep. 28th because of work. October 5th works for me. Anytime from 2 PM EST to about 7 PM EST works as a start time for me.
My defense is that I had fun and taking fun from a poor 14 year old boy is like taking fun from a baby. Nobody wants it to happen so THERE.

WHAT?!
Danger zone.
That book sure adds some nice background.
