The Union for Technological Development, or UTD, is a group about pushing the limits of what is possible in Minecraft. We strive to use creativity and knowledge to develop amazing works in all aspects of Minecraft, from redstone computers to texture packs. But more importantly, we're about having fun as part of a community dedicated to building and designing the next big thing.
Applying
We are always looking for new members, and applying is a simple process. We are looking for talented minds with skills pertaining to redstone, modding/coding, in-game architecture, graphics design, and cannon construction. If you are capable of any of these skills or others that are useful in Minecraft, please apply using the form below. Please attach pictures or documentation of things you have previously worked on, or you will be denied.

Server
At this time, we do not have a server. If you would like to provide one, or know someone who would, please let us know, and we can discuss specifics.
When we do have a server, it will be encouraged that members build their projects on it. However, that is by no means a requirement, and it is perfectly acceptable to build in single player.
Projects
The UTD is home to many different types of projects. Once a project is completed by a member, it is uploaded to our Project Gallery Website(coming soon), and our group account on Planet Minecraft.
Members should also feel free to promote their builds individually by posting it in a relevant section on this forum(i.e. redstone computers go in the Redstone Creations section), with YouTube videos, and other ways. Our only requirement is that when you make a thread for the project here, it must have [UTD] at the beginning of the title, and contain a link back to this topic in the OP. While we encourage you to mention the UTD in your other methods of promotion, it isn't a requirement at this time.
The gallery of all of our projects is here(coming soon)
Since our beginning, we have been largely redstone centered. We have made everything from simple adders, to amazing torch displays (The largest for their time).
"Burnout" ASCII Word Processor
42x24 Programmable TV
"A2" 8 Bit Adder
Architecture, Art, and Mapping
The UTD has been responsible for a fair number of architectural projects, among other things.
MWI Super Fortress
Modern House Series #1
Cannons
There is much fun to be had in the field of TNT cannons, and the UTD has made a great number. From novelty to practical, it has always blossomed.
FirstDragonSlayer's Record Setting Cannon(Most TNT in a Single Rail Cannon)
"Doomtrain" Accelerated Projectile Cannon
Graphic Design While we haven't released a texture pack in a long time, we would love to have graphic designers. This section also includes other relevant productions such as avatar/signature design and video editing.
ModernReality
Modding
The UTD has never released a mod, but we are ambitious to do so. Once a team is assembled, we hope to change that.
Staying Connected
Members of the UTD should stay social and active, posting with about updates on their projects, relevant news, or even just to complement each other on their achievements. Basically, we want to be a community of gamers working together, rather than just a name your work gets published under.
The group has a YouTube channel. If you want to stay up to date with our most recent creations, subscribe here:
The Alexander is a repeating cannon that shoots 25 shots in quick succession. Each shot is powered by two rails of 6 TNT each, launching the projectile ~100 blocks. Its great for destroying medium to large buildings, and killing groups of players.
Glad to see it up and running again.
Could I have membership back from the other one?
If you're not busy, I have a friend working on a project, and he desperately needs help. He's trying to port FTB (Feed The Beast) into Canary. Not sure if you know canary, but just wondering...

I am currently working on one off and on, and will submit it upon completion. However, I do have evidence of my use of redstone. This is my 8-bit to BCD circuit.

Accepted. I checked the 8-Bit to BCD out, and I have to say, it's amazing. Really quick decoding, and doesn't use up a lot of space at all. Schematic to be released. BTW if anyone was wondering this screenshot was taken on WhiteServer. mc.whiteservermc.com

Hey everyone, I've got some important news. We have decided that, instead of having one group thread to show off our projects(different from this thread), it would be better to let our members post their own threads for their projects. This will let your projects bee seen in the sections most relevant to them; with just one thread, it likely would have ended up in the Redstone section, which isn't fair to our other sections. Our only requirements is that the title of the thread start with [UTD], and the OP have a link back to this thread.
In addition, as a replacement to the projects thread, we will be creating a Project Gallery website, which will hopefully become available within the next couple of days. I'll post more information about the website then.
In personal news, I should have another cannon video out sometime today. Also, is it bad that I only just learned the half-slab vertical redstone trick by looking at RedCat's pictures?
Edit: New Cannon, the Leviathan
The Leviathan is an arrow cannon, capable of launching arrows massive distances. While normally a dispenser can only launch an arrow a couple dozen blocks, this cannon launches them well past 200 blocks.
Good job assassin.
Could be useful if you have a bunch and if they can be quickly reloaded. (PVP servers)
Thanks. That gives me an idea, I should make a repeating version of it. Probably won't get to it for a while(I got a bunch of other ideas backed up already), but at least when I do 1.5 should be out already.
Bah, what good is a group of redstoners if we *don't* pick up ideas and clever little tricks from each other?
Also: I have come up with the following circuits since: a fully modular BCD shift register with a keypad that stores the BCD value in an easy-to-read way that is ready to hook into a BCD to 8-bit converter, and an 8-bit multiplier (7 compact 9-bit adders).
Should I come up with a thread for each one individually, or just make a RedCat Project Thread and link it to here?

Assassin, I need to talk to you about making a new projects thread, the old one looks like crap.

I'll update the banners also.

Thanks. And I saw your original post. When you have something to show off your skill, feel free to re-apply.
Ok, added the banners, and added Nexpluvia to the member list. Also, I'll PM you in a sec about the projects thread.
Could you PM me the topic as well?

MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
If I do you're all invited to join. Whitelisted of course.
Seems like a decent concept for a tech themed clan.
