Really? You were dropping f-bombs at college and job interviews? What about during your primary education? You made a habit of using profanity in front of your teachers? Ever work in customer service? Try using profanity with a customer and see how long you last.
If you truly believe that you can use profanity in any situation you come across then you are going to be extremely disappointed when you get out of school.
The style of conversation taking place dictates the words I use. in interviews and college, they like longer wordy, drawn out answers. in public, I prefer to get right to the point.

I never said I didn't, "fling" swear words into my sentences in class, or elsewhere.
that said, this is not college, or a job interview, this is [essentially] a public space. there's a bit fewer expectations of people, conforming to arbitrary taboo's not being one of them

That's where you are wrong. You are expected to obey the rules of the forum, whether you like them or not, regardless of how "arbitrary" they may seem to you.

so you're saying I have to be all, "happy happy joy joy lapdog to the higher ups and their "wonderful" rules"?
yeeaaahh no.
words change, language evolves, swearing is not a big deal anymore.
Then you won't mind not being able to use it.
