Then why haven't people left because we disallow posts about sightings of herobrine, or links to pornography, or all manner of things we restrict?
Well posting pornography isn't allowed on most forums for obvious reasons. This isn't a porn forum, leave that to Reddit. Having a rule that says you aren't allowed to talk about reported sightings of Herobrine however is childish and stupid. Kind of like the profanity rule. It's not derailing a topic because someone cusses and it very easily can be used in any context including Minecraft. Here you have an entire off topic section which has nothing to do whatsoever with Minecraft and not allowing any profanity does seem like it's only to cater to children.
So now that I answered your question how about you answer mine. Are you honestly trying to say the ban on profanity was not to cater to over protective parents?

Profanity is banned because it is not appropriate on a forum that is aimed at people of every age. I have wanted to ban profanity since... 2009, but I never had the time to do it or the resources (moderators) to enforce it. We now have the resources and I had the time, so the rule was put into place. This wasn't an overnight decision... it was something I'd wanted to do forever.

but apparently going back on your word with the optional filter was
Pornography paints unrealistic sexual encounters, as well as objectifying women, and giving an unrealistic perception of, "normal".
Are you seriously telling me that you believe profanity to be okay, but pornography to be immoral? Pornography doesn't "objectify" women, although we're getting off topic now. You're just demonstrating how out of touch with reality you are.

swearing is none of that, it's used in everyday life, by everyone.

Swearing is used in everyday life by everyone? Where did you get that statistic from? I hardly ever cuss. Same with my family and friends. Like it's been said before, this forum is aimed for all ages. Swearing is not necessary to keep a forum running. More than 90% of the time it's probably just some 10 year old thinking they're hardcore because they can cuss, and that's what you're making yourself look like.
The rule is not going to be revoked no matter how badly you pester and complain about it. A rule is a rule. If the admins want to remove it, they'll remove it. Complaining is doing you nothing.
Lastly, if Otter forums are so magnificent and better than this community, why don't you just leave? Nobody appreciates the constant complaining about 1 silly rule that doesn't even affect you that much. The world can still rotate without swearing, it's not going to murder you to not be able to f bomb in a sentence.

Uh, you're out of touch with reality, Squid...
Seriously?
So you went back on your decision, made the filter evasion rule so stupid it's not funny, then are comparing profanity to pornography? That's seriously the absolute worst argument I've seen you put up so far.

not necessary maybe [and by necessary, I mean in the way similar that having avatars isn't necessary], but it won't hurt it either.
More than 90% of the time it's probably just some 10 year old thinking they're hardcore because they can cuss,
oh come now you know that statistic is made up
and that's what you're making yourself look like.
didn't we just go over this in the last thread?

maybe not removed, but citric will at least have to live up to his word and re-implement the optional filter
oh come now you know what I'm talking about, if one or two people get butthurt from getting a taste of real life that's their problem.
Are you arguing against yourself here?
As nodachi said, in real life you come across places that have rules that you might not necessarily agree with, or find it unacceptable for people to swear, and have consequences if people do.
In real life, people swear, but there are also places where it is unacceptable.
Getting a taste of "Real Life" means learning that people have different opinions from you - and may dislike behavior that you personally enjoy, or at least do not complain about.
So welcome, to your taste of "real life", where a place implements a rule against a type of speech they believe is inappropriate.

really? haven't come across any. college, work, no one's had a problem with it.

right back at ya
so answer me this, why should you be putting these words on a pedestal? if you treat them special, it'll only intensify the arbitrary idea that these words should be, "taboo"
and because I know that the next thing you'll do is play the racism/discrimination card:
racism, discrimination, and otherwise "hate speech" is meant to exclude and degrade an entire race, sexuality, etc,
now tell me how saying, "this mod is ******* awesome!" excludes and degrades people.
words meaning, the weight they carry, and spelling, change over time, profanity isn't that big of a deal anymore. it'd be like a school removing all the bathrooms in the building because taking bathroom breaks cuts out on students studying time, there's a time and place for using the restroom, just not at school. and really, who wants to walk by and hear all that disgusting noise? toilets flushing, the smell, it's repulsive. it's better to just ban restrooms and have students relieve themselves before they come to school

Really? You were dropping f-bombs at college and job interviews? What about during your primary education? You made a habit of using profanity in front of your teachers? Ever work in customer service? Try using profanity with a customer and see how long you last.
If you truly believe that you can use profanity in any situation you come across then you are going to be extremely disappointed when you get out of school.
Then why haven't people left because we disallow posts about sightings of herobrine, or links to pornography, or all manner of things we restrict?
So it makes sense to disallow pornography because...? Why?

now setting specific rules for yourself is all fine and dandy, make and break them all you want, but don't try and force them on me.
Welcome to the Minecraft Forums (or any other forums). We force many many specific rules on you.
that would explain why the mods are all suddenly for the rule, when previously some were against it
*cough* Kata *cough*
