*sigh* Alright, I guess it's time to talk about this.
After the last update I stopped working on the project to think about what my plans were now that I'm back without an artist again.
Sadly, my decision is basically to put Project Forge on hold for a while, and start on a new, easier, less time-consuming project which I had a great idea for, which I think can sell well, too.
Important Note: Project Forge is NOT cancelled... It's just on hold for a little while.
I simply don't have enough 'spare time' to continue to push forward with Project Forge and finish it in a reasonable amount of time.
This was really hard on me... Project Forge is my dream. Even putting it on hold was a very tough decision... So I hope you guys don't hate me for this now.
Basically now I've been looking around for a pre-made game engine I can use to quickly develop my new game idea. I can even do the graphics myself this time. The new project will not take anywhere near as long as Project Forge will/would take, and so I hope to use it to get some initial funding in order to work on Project Forge full-time.
So what this means:
1. I won't be able to provide any new updates on Project Forge for quite a while. The project is on hold for now.
2. I'll be able to move forward with a new idea to get some start-up funds which will go directly towards Project Forge's development, which (hopefully) means being able to work on it full-time, being able to hire artists, and being able to have a more successful KickStarter campaign (depending on if more funding is still required).
3. Project Forge will still probably complete around the same time, if not earlier, than it would have if I only ever worked on it in my spare time.
4. I will be able to provide updates on a different project which should move more quickly.
5. Project Forge is NOT CANCELLED. It is my dream to finish this game. I will finish it even if it takes me years.
I really apologize to everyone for announcing Project Forge so early. I hope you guys will still be there to support me on the new project, but I understand if you're not. Thanks for being there guys. Life moves on.
I'll announce the new project when I've actually got something to show you guys. I'll let you guys know more about this soon.
... And I'm just curious, but do any of you guys know of the old NES game River City Ransom? It was a truly amazing game, especially when played in multiplayer.
PM me the kickstarter for your new project if you can't post it here.
I doubt there will be any. I won't need any special funding for this project... except maybe to hire a sound artist... which I'm not worried about right now (I can always add sound in at the end).
It's a relatively short and relatively simple project. It should be lots of fun, though... so I'm hoping it will sell well.
As opposed to Project Forge which probably would have taken another 5 years in my 'spare time', I think I can get this one done in maybe a year (or even under) in only my 'spare time'. And I think it has the potential to sell rather well on Steam... allowing for funding which will enable full-time development on Project Forge.
Basically it's an amazing opportunity that I can't pass up. It will not only benefit me in the short-run, but it will allow me to finish Project Forge in the long-run. It's a win-win decision... That's why I had to change my plans.
yeah, maybe he just is not updating the post and he is working on the game himself. Thats pretty unlikely though
Actually that was the case. I was busy on the game and not really updating the topic as there wasn't really that much to talk about (as you'll find is true for most games which aren't yet to an alpha stage).
However, if you check my last two recent posts/updates, you'll find this project is on hold. I am currently working on a smaller and faster project in order to get some initial funding for Project Forge. The development was moving too slowly as I only spent my little bits of free time on it and I need full-time development to finish a game like this.
I will update you guys with info about my new project once there is actually something to show.
Once again, this project is NOT cancelled. It is just on hold until I get some funding.
No not yet. I haven't done animated tiles yet, but it's on my to-do list.
lol... For now it is.

Do you have plans for distribution of the Flux Engine? If so, would I be allowed to use it for creating a game?
Actually that was the case. I was busy on the game and not really updating the topic as there wasn't really that much to talk about (as you'll find is true for most games which aren't yet to an alpha stage).
