I'm a heavy user, I play a lot of games, I usually have lots of windows running at same time. eg, Minecraft, Eclipse, FireFox, Skype, Paint.NET and more sometimes. I go to a lot of places.
I know I can get a totally cheaper desktop with the same specs but for the traveling, would this computer be good?

Yeah it should be fine, considering you want a laptop and you want to sink that price into it. When you can get a iMac with 12gb of ram for that price, (what i have) and i host a 40 slot server with bukkit 24/7 and it runs no with zero lag.

Did you really just suggest an iMac AND say it was better because of RAM? There are so many problems with that, OP, do not get a mac.
EDIT: OT: This: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834230194 would be an excellent choice, Asus is a better manufacturer than HP, it is less expensive, has more RAM, and the graphics chip is better. Only downside is the lack or a Blu-Ray drive.
For those who don't know and are recommending products from Newegg, the OP is from Australia, so recommend something from the site he linked (JB Hi-Fi)
*EDIT: Nevermind, thread got bumped by noob, now I feel stupid.

Yes that would be fine.
I suggest trying to find an Asus or another companies laptop. HP tends to have shoddy quality and is hit or miss.

It doesnt have a blu-ray player, but its about $500 cheaper.
I have one of these and i get around 150 fps in minecraft servers.
It's also great for tf2! I love this laptop.

No hell no alienware is terrible. Asus offers much better pricing and hardware.

NO NO NO JUST NO...
All faith in humanity lost.
Pretty much why I didn't respond to this thread.
Dead wrong.
RAM does not affect the speed at which you can run a game (if you had a 1GHz processor with 12Gb ram it would be slow.)
OT: seems fine. I can recommend Asus and Toshiba (to some extent) to be good manufacturers of laptops.
Stop bumping already answered threads.
