Hi, sometime later this week I am going to buy a computer (what computer & specs listed below) and I was wondering if any of you had it and can give me some recommendations and answer some questions
And what i'm wondering is, if it's good at running Minecraft at a decent FPS (Anywhere around 60-70 FPS)
And the second thing that I am wondering is if it can run:
Fraps Minecraft (with SEUS Shaders)
And still get around 40-50 FPS. Let me know what you think!
No, that could barely handle vanilla MC and will certainly not run SEUS.
That's the XPS 8700 for $700 right? There are much better computers in that price range: http://www.newegg.co...82E16883258065R has better specs in every way and is cheaper.
Do not get it. It's pretty much the worst computer for price/performance under $1000.
Okay #1, why do you say this? Have you ever gotten the 8700? Do you have one?
#2, I checked out the computer link you sent me and it is basically the exact same computer but with a different Chassis, a tiny bit better processor and a better video card. Explain why you think this nearly identical computer is better. Thanks

The graphics card is around 5x better. No benchmarking site has a card as weak as the 635, but the 640 is a slight bit better so this is a somewhat accurate comparison: http://anandtech.com/bench/product/1132?vs=1038

Okay, I see what your saying with the graphics card and stuff, but I'm not going for an absolute Power House, war machine of a computer. I'm looking for a decent computer that will get me around 50-60 FPS while playing at somewhat/max settings. Minecraft isn't a huge game either...i'm very sure that it can handle it.
I went to your link. It was descriptive. I see what you mean.
But in saying that it is terrible, do you disagree with these 3 people who did reviews:
If someone asked me, in all of those videos, they are getting a good quality FPS. Now I do realize that they have different specs, and some slightly better. But still.

It's cheaper and performs better. Why should you spend more for a worse computer?

Yes, I do. It's horribly overpriced and all of the graphics card options, even the $2000 Special Edition has a weaker graphics card then both of the computers I linked.

Look, this argument is getting kind of long so this is going to be my last post on the topic.
Listen, I have a (right now):
Dell Inspiron Intel Core i3-2310M @ 2.10 GHz 4.0 GB of RAM Windows 7 (64-bit) With an Intel HD Graphics Family Video Card
And I still get 20-30 FPS. If I upgrade A TON with the XPS 8700, don't you think I would get around 50-60 FPS easy? Anyways, i'm done arguing and i'm sick of Minecraft Forums skipping around and hitting enter for me every so often

So, nice points. Bye.
Great idea, post on a forum and don't listen to anyone.
Have fun with your useless $700 brick.

(lol okay, seriously last post this time)
Well no, I listened to all your points. I just don't agree.
And I will! I will have SOO much fun with this giant brick that you won't even imagine! We'll go on the Faris Wheel together, we'll eat cotton candy, we'll see zebras & monkeys at the zoo, then go home and watch a few nice hours of Netflix and finish Season 6 of Doctor Who, and all loads of fun xD
Don't you realise that you are about to waste hundreds of dollars you could use for something else and get as good of a computer? Just because you can do what you want with it doesn't mean that there are no better options.
It's Dell. If I don't like it, or find that you're right, I can return it within the next 30 days and get all my money back no problem.

I don't see why you're so set on getting the Dell computer, especially when Miiralion has suggested a much better computer, FOR THE SAME PRICE! but if you really want to get the XPS 8700 then go ahead, we're not the ones going to be complaining about Minecraft lagging, or Minecraft not being able to run shaders.

Running shaders with that GPU will get you about 30-50 and its also 300% better than the GT 635 so yeah
you can go with buying a crap for $700 if you want or you can listen to the experts

If you keep on sustaining your argument about that computer and how it an run mine craft fine, why did you make a thread about it then. Clearly, people here are trying to give you better alternatives- but you are throwing it in their faces. What is the point in coming to a forum if you are not accepting advice. Waste of an account.

Just a follow up on this thread.
I bought the computer. I don't know what all of you people are talking about honestly, I get about 100-130 FPS constantly on almost any map or any server. Shaders gets around 30-40 like SpicyTM said. So what can I say about arguing my point? I'm glad I bought the computer. Because if I didn't, I would be complaining about lag. So, if I did listen to the "experts" I would have probably gotten a decent computer as well. But I'm happy with this one that gets me well over 100 FPS. Thanks for everyone who listened and replied and argued. Thanks
Wonderful. You ignored the people who understand why the computer you bought is bad for the money, even after they gave you much better options. Oh well, too bad for you. Enjoy your $700 PC that performs far worse than one that costs less. And also, your monitor can't support more than 60 fps, because it is 60hz.

Oh, we're using Minecraft as a measure of how good a computer is now?

Are you playing on max settings? view distance 16 chunks, smooth lighting, fancy graphics, particles all, anisotropic filtering 16. Also what resolution monitor are you playing on?
If you got the other computer you could be getting constant 300 fps, on max settings. I know it doesn't matter for most monitors, but when you're playing with shaders the extra horsepower would give you a better experience. Personally 30 fps is verging on unplayable, and if you have a sudden lag spike it will dip well below 30 fps. If you plan on playing other games at some point you'll have to turn the settings down in those games, when you could be turning them up. It still doesn't make sense to get something worst, for no apparent reason, when you could have got something better for the same price.
But if you're happy with the computer then that's what matters I guess.
Do you have this computer? Would you recommend it? Thanks again!
I built my computer, I wouldn't suggest anything less if you're interested in I.T., you will learn so much and be able to answer questions like this, I'd suggest these parts if you do make a computer CPU:AMD FX-8350 (8 cores @ 4.0GHz) CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (Best CPU cooler on the market if you exclude water cooling which is mainly for overclockers who get a new computer each year) GPU:Sapphire 270 or Sapphire 270XDUAL-X or VAPOR-X, (TOXIC is for overclockers who get a new computer each year). Case: What looks good BUT it really should be picked last and make sure it can fit all your parts, have a look at the Cooler Master Storm Scout Adv. 2 which comes in two colours: white and "gunmetal grey" (I'm almost offended to find my auto correct thinks 'colour' is spelt wrong and as I am writing this it thinks spelt is wrong too!!)
I am going to get the:
Dell XPS 8700
4th Generation Intel® Core™ i5-4440 Processor (6M Cache, 3.1 GHz)
Windows 8.1 (64-bit)
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz - 2 DIMMs (RAM)
1TB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive 6.0 Gb/s
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 635 1GB DDR3
