Fraps if you want to pay $40, it is absolutely the best to use, for free i would use MSI Predator, seems to be very very good for free and no watermark

“These are the voyages of the starship Enterprise, it's continuing mission to explore a strange new worlds, to seek out new life and new civilizations, to boldly go where no one has gone before.”-Gene Roddenberry
Because fraps records raw footage for highest quality. It does not take the time to compress the footage as it records. You have to render/compress the video using 3rd party software in order to get a final render.
as in what software? ohh and will it upload to youtube after compression?
You can do that with video editing software

Any to say, such as get Format factory to convert the video from uncompressed AVI to say mp4 at 500Kb/s bitrate, 1280x720 resolution, audio at 128kb/s 48kHz. That is just a example, what I use for my livestreams anyway. Excellant quality, 200MB 1 hour vids, cannot argue.
However as I said, that is a example. There is some free renders out there. Or get the 50 buck version of Sony Vegas 11 if you want quality at most.
Though I do not suggest Windows Movie Maker, unless you get version 6 "good un" and not the one that comes with windows 7...

So that's why a 30 second video that I recorded took so long to upload. The more I know.

Does no one look around before asking common questions?
Sometimes, no. Like I posted a thread about the new Ivy Bridge motherboards and someone else said they posted a thread just like it. It's my fault because I didn't scroll down far enough to see it.

no but it comes out in like 10GB files in like 10mins of recording from fraps, now you say compress it but what program do you recommend because otherwise it will take 10hours+ to upload to youtube
so far a mate of mine suggested sony vegas but thats high cost and so on.

Sony Vegas is for editing the video, cutting and adding transitions etc, you can use a program called Handbrake to compress it after you edit it, the reason the files are so large for FRAPS is that it is exactly what your graphics card is displaying, it does take a huge aount of space to record, but its usually around a gigabyte for a 10 minute video after editing and compression
Also Vegas is only around $30 and is incredible for the price
