Yeah, I have a cloak I use sometimes because we all know cloaks are awesome. I'm not stricken with a desire to eat all the time, though lately ponies have been cantering non-stop through my head.
I finished watching all the episodes in time to catch the season finale. I suppose I shouldn't spoil anything for you, but that may have already happened if you don't watch them in chronological order. Now there's a question for people: since the show is episodic and most episodes don't rely on each other, did you first watch the series in order or just catch an episode whenever you could?
Well then. Now I'm jelly.
By the way, you can talk about any of the episodes. There's a rule here where you have to use spoiler tags

Oh. He said recent episodes. Dang. BUT IT'S ONE OF THE BEST EARLY EPISODES!

You know what? You actually managed to get me even more interested. I consider myself to be a guy who knows things about movies and tv shows. How can I say I know anything if I haven't at least checked out the biggest and the most popular shows one of which is My Little Pony?
Can anyone link me to an episode you think is a good one to see if you were to pick one that's the most regular so that I can see for myself what it's all about? Preferably one of the recent episodes.
If you want to familiarize yourself with the characters, I recommend watching the pilot episodes for the first season:
You can also check out the link in my signature; it provides a decent summary of how the show is affecting people in a positive way.

Do you like space games? I like space games. You should check out Starsector!
I feel ashamed of myself already, but I'll continue.
As you can see, the thread got locked, and I posted it on the thread before this. Several users (I think BJ and a couple others being amongst them) responded to me, and I realized that I overreacted, I apologized, I then looked into the show, and, well, I got hooked.
Now, here are the reasons it really is a fantastic show:
1. Great plot development, well-done plots, sometimes it might be a bit clichê, but usually it's pretty original.
2. Great character development, all the main characters, even the occasional side character, is explored to the fullest, after watching a few episodes, you really get an understanding for the character's personality, like Rainbow Dash's cockiness, Pinkie Pie's hyperactivity and randomness, and so on.
3. Great animation, it has some of the smoothest, most fluid animating of any show I've ever watched, the show's directed by the same woman, Lauren Faust, who directed Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Powerpuff Girls, the animation style is almost, if not strikingly similar to FiM.
4. Tons of references, too many to count, so I'll give you a short list of the concepts and other pieces of pop culture it has referenced:
-The Big Lebowski
-Indiana Jones
-Batman
-A joke about spiking a bowl of punch with alcohol
-(This was more of how it appealed to me), the recent "Gabby Gums" episode I felt was an allegory of some of the hurtful gossip that our nation spreads about everyone, such as TMZ and the National Enquirer
5. A fantastic and ever-growing fandom, of all the fanbases that I have seen, the brony community I have seen some of the most talented writing, art, and compositions of any other place. I myself am involved in this, as me, and a few other forummates write fanfiction.
There are more examples, but I find those as the five core reasons why this fandom has developed around the show. Who knows, you may become a brony yourself

Huzzah! Now I know the secret! *cough*
Anyways, why do I love MLP and how do I explain to others? Through the music I suppose. The songs are amazing and full of musical intricacies and references. I was able to convince a friend from contra dancing to watch it by singing parts of "At the Gala" and "Art of the Dress" and comparing them to Sondheim's pieces, which she was fortunately familiar with. I think that's pretty impressive, that a supposedly girly cartoon would have such references. If the music fails to work, I rely on the fact that there are so many references to things that adults get:
The punch being "spiked"
The matrix-like fight scene in the season finale
The Charlie's Angels/A-Team montage scene in Dragonshy
Doctor Who
and so on
Those don't always work, but that's to be expected. For me I like how it's plain-out-entertaining and positive without being sappy. We can laugh to it and shed manly tears and with the large community, there's a lot of support to turn to, as others have mentioned. Now that I've begun to become more involved in the fandom I'm realizing the full extent of the creativity that's around. We've got great artists, musicians/composers, writers, animators, and even voice actors. I haven't been involved in many fan communities before, but I'm really impressed at how much quality fan-produced content there is.
Ahhh, see.
This is how this thread is supposed to be.
We get... nine NOPE. Ten. Gallin got us to double digits! (One of those being an (no offense) ex-pony hater), I think, explanations about why we like the show when someone politely asks. And after seven of those, we convince the person to watch an episode. And then we give him a large amount of good episodes.
In other news, I'm still looking through those comments on the before-MLP-came-out art from Sibsy.
Her and the other person (Marabou-Stork) had this amusing conversation. This all occured before FiM came out.
Marabou: What is there a new cartoon show coming back? I miss playing with my little ponies.. Well I don't miss it like I want to get them out and start playing with them, but I do miss the time when my imagination could concoct such epic adventures for them to go on. Those little critters were great. I'd be happy if they got a revival.
Sibsy: They are coming back...I'm storyboarding on the series right now. Lauren Faust is kinda heading it all, so it's pretty sweet.
Marabou: THE FOSTERS CHICK! You can't see it right now, but I did my happy dance. If a grown up being excited about the revival of a kids television program from the eighties is wrong, I don't want to know what's right. Also, I salute you for story boarding, I'm just finishing up a story boarding class and that stuff is, well... amazing... but /hard/. so *salute*
Sibsy: *laughs* Her designs for the ponies are pretty darn cute, I must say. But there are few rules that I want to break but can't...hehe!
Good luck with the class
Marabou: Thanks! Good luck with following the rules!
Just thought that was kind of funny, since that conversation happened on June 17th of 2010. Have the art that they were commenting on. It's awesome!
That "Blue one with the rainbow-coloured mane" be Rainbow Dash, my friend
Anyways, I'm glad you were able to have such a revelation, and I think many of us would be very happy to have you join the community!
However, I believe that, and this show will teach you very many things about a true friendship, is that you can put trust in your closest friends. Being in the Civil Air Patrol and playing too much Metal Gear Solid has kind of put me at that point where I couldn't trust but my closest family members, but, once I became a brony, I realized that I can trust my closest, most reliable friends.
While, some of the points you made are correct, I can assure you that My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic will teach you to become a happier, better person. Unfortunately, I, similar to a character in one of my fics: My Little Warzone: Betrayal Part 1, General Molokus (Some of you may know that name), I have a very short fuse, and I have blown up on people several times. FiM and several others on this forum have taught me to subdue that feeling of rage, and, well, I've managed to contain it most of the time. However, I'm not the friendliest person ever, and I do have a very cynical sense of humor, but I do manage to be the nicest person I can be, lending out a hand to others, showing appreciation for what I've been given, and so on.
I guess you could say that, hopefully like others on here, ponies changed my life a little. And I gotta say that I have to thank Hasbro and all the creators of the show for that, while, yes, my family has been a big part of that, they have too.
Now there's a question for people: since the show is episodic and most episodes don't rely on each other, did you first watch the series in order or just catch an episode whenever you could?
I watched all of them in order, regardless of how bad some may seem (like Hearts and Hooves Day... GAH!).
I'm probably going to watch the episodes from the first season and see how it goes. Who knows, I might get hooked.
Feel free to skip around the episodes; most of them (aside from the obvious two-parters) don't even really tie into a previous episode anyway.
I just have one more question for you guys: Because I consider the community to be the best part of the whole MLP thing, I want to ask you if I would actually be welcome in a community like that. The reason why I'm asking is that I don't trust people and it could take a while before that changes. Also, I get annoyed very quickly, when I have a bad day I just rage with anger. Sometimes I could even say hurtful things.
Anyone who doesn't flame on us for no reason is welcome. Heck, we're happy you're giving the show a shot, even if you may or may not like it later
But all that is not the biggest problem. Here comes the bomb: I don't think I really believe in friendship as something that connects two or more people with bond that cannot be broken. I don't believe you can really fully trust another person. ever. I currently have exactly one friend with whom I share almost all of my life. But even so, I realise I'm not his best friend. His best friend is his cousin and I'm aware of the fact that if he was to choose between me and him, he would choose him and it has happened in the past a lot when we were kids. Also, there's the case of that guy who only pretended to be my friend and then exploited me and hurt me badly (as I described before). You may see now why it's very hard for me to believe that this community is all 100% true. You are all about friendship but how do I know that what I'm looking at is true? How do I know I won't get hurt yet again if I decide to open myself to you? And most importantly: Do you think you could consider someone like me a part of your community?
Uhh... We don't really talk about our personal lives on a deep level (if you know what I mean). If you just talk about MLP experiences that happened to you without it sounding like a huge soap opera, you'll be fine
Honestly (and no offense to everyponyone here), I don't really consider anyone here my friend since... well... they don't really know me all that well. I mean, sure, we all have an interest in MLP and all, but I don't consider that to be enough. At any rate, I understand how you'd have a hard time trusting anyone. I'm also in the same boat, particularly in real life (I don't even trust my family ._.). All I can say is, it's the internet. Unless you schedule a meet-up somewhere, what are the odds of someone here finding you? If you don't like or trust someone, just ignore them.

Dear God, man. You are awesome. I hope you know that. You find out about a group of guys that watch My Little Pony. My. Little. Pony. And then you ask politely why we watch it. You get a response, and decide to TRY an episode. You finish, and thought it was pretty OK. You see why we like it. You decide to watch the entire first season. And then... Well, OF COURSE WE'RE GOING TO FREAKING ACCEPT YOU. You're in the 99th percentile of people who ask this. You may have went a little too... deep, but still! Yes, I would consider you an awesome member of our community!
Thank you for your support and sorry for the soap opera-like stuff. I guess the MLP episode set me in some kind of a weird soft mood. It also tends to happen to me at night sometimes (and it's night where I am).
Can anyone give me an indroduction to the MLP community? Like give me some links to the best MLP websites, forums. You know, places you all hang out except for this thread.
Generally, the best place to go for good news, art, music, and fan-fics is Equestria Daily, despite all the accusations of them ignoring good new stuff in favor of things by popular figures.
But considering they're the only site that really does brony news and the like, we're sort of stuck until a competitor arises.
Otherwise, there's PonyChan. It's more-or-less just a forum dedicated to pure MLP and I think it might be the biggest forum around. I haven't really bothered joining.
Thank you for your support and sorry for the soap opera-like stuff. I guess the MLP episode set me in some kind of a weird soft mood. It also tends to happen to me at night sometimes (and it's night where I am).

Lemme get you started on that:
FiMfiction.net, this website is the largest database of all MLP fanfictions, you can check it out here: http://www.fimfiction.net/
You can also check out some of us, and, I'll give you three of us that are writers on this site :P:
There's also the blog that displays some of the greats of the community, Equestria Daily: http://www.equestriadaily.com/
If you want to find out specifically about musicians in the fandom, I suggest you also check out Everypony Sings: http://www.everyponysings.com/
You can also find art and videos around websites like Youtube and DeviantArt, so I suggest you give those places a look, too :P, just search up "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic", and you'll get a plethora of stuff involved with the fanbase.

There's Equestria Daily: http://www.equestriadaily.com/ a moderator-updated site, but it tends to be pretty biased on a number of things. You only see what they screen and super jebus help you if you post a dissenting opinion when commenting.
Next up is ponychan: http://www.ponychan.net/chan/ Some users there are bastards, and their /show/ board's about as biased as EqD. I'd reccomend sticking to their /oat/ board. Don't be turned off by it as a "Random" board, it's nothing like /b/.
Speaking of /b/, 4chan has an /mlp/ board, but... well, it's a 4chan board. I don't need to elaborate, it speaks volumes. Go there if you want to raise your self esteem.
Reddit has a number of pony boards, /r/mylittlepony, /r/mlplounge, even /r/mylittlefortress for tf2 related pony. Of the lot, they're safe bets. Of course, some of the users would have a bit of bias.
If it's art you're after, you could try the DeviantArt groups, or Ponibooru, but if you choose the latter, make an account, go to content preferences, and fill that tag-filter box. It's got really lax moderation.
Also, there's heaps of tumblr blogs, if you use it.

Welcome (although it's a bit late, sorry)!
A lot of good links to sites already, and thankfully, some disclaimers. But nobody mentioned our DeviantArt group: http://mcfbronies.deviantart.com/
This is where all of the thread's artists post their pony art, if you want to see what we've been up to (most of our art gets posted here, too).
Rules? No porn, no gore, no violence. Work-safe, this is an all-ages forum and all.
And try to stay on topic (pony and pony-related things). That's about it.

OK.
I recommend watching the episodes first before going too far into the fandom. But, when you're done, open this spoiler and click on the links. They're all great pony Youtubers, some of them animators, or musicians, or randomness. This is about half my subscription list.
Oh. Also, make sure to check out Dimondium who posts here fairly often. He makes music and writes! Alpha already linked his Fimfiction, so I'll give you his Youtube with the music. http://www.youtube.com/user/youman6715
Time to step in this topic again, I wonder if anyone here still remembers me.
To Yasashii: Welcome to the herd/fanbase! The rules are pretty simple: No chatting and no posting of NSFW pictures.
While I'm still here, I'll throw out some food for thought.
Topic 1: Do you believe in or abide by 'Love and Tolerate'? Why or why not? In what situations do you apply it to? Do you apply it when it concerns games, movies or even another show?
Topic 2: Which episodes' morals do you dislike and why? (You don't have to dislike the episode to dislike the morals.)
Topic 3: In the situations where the Main Six encounter a villain, what changes in the story could lead to them ultimately losing?
Topic 4: What do you like/dislike about the brony community? What could be done to improve on/fix them?
Topic 5: In your opinion, what song in the series has the most/least meaning for you? What fanmade song has the most/least meaning for you?
Love and Tolerate man, Love and Tolerate, the rule of the Bronies.
And also,
And in response to the topic, topic one to be exact, I do love and tolerate a lot, even irl, I even help out people I don't like and I'm not outright mean on the forums or anywhere else unless I've had a bad day.
Here, have the official welcoming .Gif! (don't know if it's been posted before for you, but I'll post it anyway, because it's damn nice to have a free drink!)
On the thread, I'm the guy who read pretty much every fan-fics that exists (Along with Nerevar, but it's been a couple of days since he last logged in).
Sometimes I'll post fic updates, or whole new fictions.
Speaking of which...
The Night That Never Ended updated guys! UPDATED! It's been like what, three of four months since the last update, and now we have two whole chapter in two days! That's amazing!
While I'm still here, I'll throw out some food for thought.
Topic 1: Do you believe in or abide by 'Love and Tolerate'? Why or why not? In what situations do you apply it to? Do you apply it when it concerns games, movies or even another show?
I apply it a lot in the internet, where everypony can easily insult you, your tastes, your opinion, your pretty much everything. Being able to respect, love and tolerate the haters, the trolls and all, requires an lot of patience, and willpower. Sometimes it's easier to just argue with the other too, and hammer down your opinion in his brain, but I consider the 'love&tolerate' option better.
Topic 2: Which episodes' morals do you dislike and why? (You don't have to dislike the episode to dislike the morals.)
Hmm, That's actually a good question. I don't remember every single moral at the end of each episode, so I can't really tell you now. But even if someponies think that it's kind of uncool to include morals at the end of each episodes, I believe it's a great addition to the show. It proves that the character learns from their mistakes.
Topic 3: In the situations where the Main Six encounter a villain, what changes in the story could lead to them ultimately losing?
Hmm, having the villain actually be thinking before acting?
There's just so many ways the Mane6 could've lost if Nmm/Discord/Chrysalis actually thought before blurting out their plans to the Mane6/Celestia.
Discord was too confident in himself too. Theories says that he's been imprisoned before by the twin sisters, when they used the elements against him. He should be aware of their true powers, and taking real actions to prevent the Mane6 from using them. He's so overly confident in himself that he just mess with them, until he realize it's too late and he's turned to stone again.
Topic 4: What do you like/dislike about the brony community? What could be done to improve on/fix them?
What I dislike... Hmm... Eh..... hum...
Well, the community is filled with tons of different people. Sometimes, even the bronies themselves can't agree with each other. Sometimes 2 or more ponies argues against each other about Celestia knows what, and I swear I compare them to haters, and the amount of hate in their posts would be about the same. What I dislike about the community is that some of its members don't even make the effort of 'love&tolerate'. This rule is what makes our community different from the rest of the internet. Without it, the chats, thread, blogs and all would be as much hateful as anything else on the wild world that is Internet.
Some of us don't even care to make an effort, and I find it sad.
Topic 5: In your opinion, what song in the series has the most/least meaning for you? What fanmade song has the most/least meaning for you?
Canon song. I love them all. But.. you are right.
This day Aria is certainly one of the best songs I ever listened to on a TV show.
After that, there's pretty much every song Twilight sing during both seasons, because I love her singing voice.
As for the fanmade songs..
is my favorite.
Even if the animation is basic (very so), I just love it.
Well. I never thought I would write that much tonight on the thread!

And I have a response to your question, Yasashii, it sounds probably like eveyone's else, but, eh:
There's a good reason why we all like MLP so much, I've said it several times to others, so, I'll shed some story on myself here.
Some of the "Veteran" bronies on this thread do remember my rather insulting post "The Brony Agenda", actually, you can find it here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/1024589-the-brony-agenda/.

Well, OF COURSE WE'RE GOING TO FREAKING ACCEPT YOU. You're in the 99th percentile of people who ask this. You may have went a little too... deep, but still! Yes, I would consider you an awesome member of our community!
Generally, the best place to go for good news, art, music, and fan-fics is Equestria Daily, despite all the accusations of them ignoring good new stuff in favor of things by popular figures.
http://www.equestriadaily.com/
But considering they're the only site that really does brony news and the like, we're sort of stuck until a competitor arises.
Otherwise, there's PonyChan. It's more-or-less just a forum dedicated to pure MLP and I think it might be the biggest forum around. I haven't really bothered joining.
If you like to chase music I like these guys:

http://www.youtube.com/user/deathaura40s?feature=g-user-lik
http://www.youtube.com/user/makkon06?feature=results_main
And some of the more popular:

http://www.youtube.com/user/AcousticBrony
And let's not forget YapLap, who absolutely corrupts and destroys pony songs for our amusement:

I think that covers it... And of course there's about a quarter of 1/4 of dA by now...

Lemme get you started on that:
FiMfiction.net, this website is the largest database of all MLP fanfictions, you can check it out here: http://www.fimfiction.net/
You can also check out some of us, and, I'll give you three of us that are writers on this site :P:
BJtheweatherman: http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Extantdread
Dimondium: http://www.fimfiction.net/user/Dimondium (He's quite the romance writer, so if that's not your thing, then that's fine)
Myself: http://www.fimfiction.net/user/TehAlphaGamer (My stories are dark and usually quite violent, so if that's not your thing, again, you don't have to check it out)
There's also the blog that displays some of the greats of the community, Equestria Daily: http://www.equestriadaily.com/
My DeviantArt, so sexy
Welcome (although it's a bit late, sorry)!
A lot of good links to sites already, and thankfully, some disclaimers. But nobody mentioned our DeviantArt group:
http://mcfbronies.deviantart.com/
This is where all of the thread's artists post their pony art, if you want to see what we've been up to (most of our art gets posted here, too).
Rules? No porn, no gore, no violence. Work-safe, this is an all-ages forum and all.
And try to stay on topic (pony and pony-related things). That's about it.
My DeviantArt, so sexy
OK.
I recommend watching the episodes first before going too far into the fandom. But, when you're done, open this spoiler and click on the links. They're all great pony Youtubers, some of them animators, or musicians, or randomness. This is about half my subscription list.

Edit:
WHAT?
I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT THIS.
Edit: I joined. I wish I had known about that sooner.
Oh. Em. The first two episodes aren't the best. Meant to introduce the characters and such, you know. Just warning you.
And also,
And in response to the topic, topic one to be exact, I do love and tolerate a lot, even irl, I even help out people I don't like and I'm not outright mean on the forums or anywhere else unless I've had a bad day.
...Right?
Oh sweet Celestia, I'm no even sure myself anymore.
That's great!
The Night That Never Ended by Bronycray
I apply it a lot in the internet, where everypony can easily insult you, your tastes, your opinion, your pretty much everything. Being able to respect, love and tolerate the haters, the trolls and all, requires an lot of patience, and willpower. Sometimes it's easier to just argue with the other too, and hammer down your opinion in his brain, but I consider the 'love&tolerate' option better.
Hmm, That's actually a good question. I don't remember every single moral at the end of each episode, so I can't really tell you now. But even if someponies think that it's kind of uncool to include morals at the end of each episodes, I believe it's a great addition to the show. It proves that the character learns from their mistakes.
