Just wondering if anyone knows how long the internal battery for Pokemon crystal will last after the in game clock stops working when you don't play the game.
It's been a while since it happened, but it was fast for me.

I'm actually quite terrified that the battery has died in my Pokémon Blue version for Gameboy Color which likely means I've lost my save. I'm sure it has, since it's 16 years old and I haven't even turned on my Gameboy in 10 years. But I have two REAL Mews, and I had all 151 Pokémon.

I'm sorry for you to hear this...but you're screwed.

Not really. The save data's toast, but the battery inside the cartridge is very easy to manually replace.

"I often think about that old metaphor, the one that says we are all islands on a wide sea. Especially these days, now that things are more difficult than before and the world appears to be harsher than we once imagined it to be. We are all like islands, the philosopher said. Perhaps it's true. Yet I cannot help but remember an older saying, scratched on a cave wall somewhere by a long-forgotten prophet: in the end, the sea will claim everything."
That's why people play on emulators these days, isn't it?
That, and the picture is generally of better quality. Plus you can frame skip if it's a PC emulator.
Well sure, but the point is that it is impossible to get a real Mew on Red/Blue/Yellow unless you were playing the actual GameBoy (not an emulator) in the year 2000 or traded with someone who did.
If you want a Mew on those games otherwise, you would have to hack it in with a GameShark or something with the emulator. Just not an authentic experience anymore!
I had two legit Mews, one on Yellow and one on Blue. My fear is that they're gone and they can literally never be replaced

That's what I meant. All his Pokemon will be gone unless OP does something.

Wait. So If I leave like a DS or Gameboy cartridge for too long a battery inside dies?
Probably not DS, but for Gameboy I've heard that is true. It was from an age before they had non-volatile memory (i.e. to store something in memory, it needed to be powered even when not in use). Back then, digital cameras used floppy disks and could only hold about 3 photos. Then SD cards (flash memory) was invented, which is probably what the DS used.
This is the inside of Pokemon Red on Gameboy Color. Note the battery at the top right:

Boo hoo
Anyways, Toys R us? That was when kids and gamers actually wanted to go there, now ppl reffer to it as a little kid candy store o3o
And I cant get a hold of getting a mew with a glitch since I dont have a Gameshark or anything. I wonder how they exist in markets when its hacking. idk.

The only way to get a real Mew for Red/Blue/Yellow was to go to a venue hosting Pokémon Stadium Tour 2000. It was basically a promotion for Pokémon Stadium's release on Nintendo 64 in the year 2000. You had to go to one of 19 malls in the entire USA on a specific date and wait in a very long line, then put your Gameboy cartridge into a machine that traded you a Mew and gave you a certificate of authenticity proving that your Mew was legitimate. I was 12 years old at the time and had my mom stand in line behind me with my Yellow version whilst I had my Blue version so I ended up with two! At least I've still got my certificate somewhere.

Hadn't heard about any of those. The wiki article says "first reported in 2003" which is about 2 years after I stopped playing :P. But either way, it's a glitch and is along the same lines as using Gameshark. "My Mew is better than yours!"
The only glitch I partook in was catching a "Missingno" in Blue version. It was top left one in this picture. If I remember correctly, you had to talk to some guy in the second city that taught you how to throw a Pokéball, then fly to Cinnabar Island and swim up and down the side of the island.
