Now, I love being scared. And for a long time I've thought of this - what is the most scariest, creepiest, or just flat out chilling game? Keeping in mind that these are only opinions, I want to know what games put you on the edge the most.
I don't mean just jump scares either. Creepy atmosphere, OST (Original Sound Track), lore, people/creatures, ect.
------------
I myself can name a lot, but here's a few to get started.
1. Fallout 3
A lot of bad rep is said about this game - mostly from the players of Fallout, Fallout 2, and maybe even Fallout: Tactics. I've played Fallout and Fallout 2, and that doesn't change much about my opinion of Fallout 3. Sure, the story isn't really much of a reflection of the original Fallout, but I still found it fun and dramatic.
There is plenty of jump scares and chills that can hit you while playing this game. Mostly, for me, it's in the metro tunnels.
When I play Fallout, I never fast travel. Not fast traveling, however, makes me need to take the old metro to get in and out of the ruins of DC.
2. Chrono Trigger
Easily one of my favorite games of all time, I've played this game all my life. It's release in 1995 made it become my older brother's birthday present one year, and I used to sit an watch him play.
There is a lot of things in this game that give me that creepy, eerie feeling. There is hardly, if any, and jump scares in the game - but the atmosphere, OST, and the story behind certain areas in the game still give me the same feeling as I did when I was young.
Over the years growing up with Twisted Metal, I was shocked (In a good way!) when TM: Black came out. Unlike it's previous games, with it's arcade like feel with fast punk-rock playing in the back ground, this Twisted Metal was gloomy, creepy, and flat out gruesome. It was also the first of the series Mature rated game, for language, violence, and other things, while the previous games were only rated T! Each character (8 IIRC) had their own little "story."
The Half-Life franchise. As a huge fan, I would say it's a sci-fi/horror hybrid, as it features really good scares throughout the game, and focuses on the horror elements often.
For example, the infamous Ravenholm:
(I don't own the video, it's just some random walkthrough I found on youtube.)
far cry 3 kind of sorta scares me, well not really, I am just cautious and i take time to be tactical. I normally found that just winging it and driving straight into the enemy is best, all enemies are weak so it doesn't matter.
Penumbra
Amnesia
World at War: Zombies
Just the thought, "I wonder what it feels like to be besieged by zombies constantly..."
Just imagine it. Day in, day out. Zombies. Undead comrades, enemies. Unfeeling.
Scary.

The greatest illusion is the existence of a unique truth.
I'd say Mother 3 (especially the part with the Ultimate Chimera; the music occasionally switches to the sound of a bunch of Pigmasks, the soldiers of the primary antagonist, and the dull stomping of the Chimera... sometimes, it roars, and the Pigmasks all squeal), though I haven't played too many creepy games. Minecraft would've qualified for me at first had every scare not been a jumpscare and the mob difficulty more recently toned down to levels that makes the mobs seem like kittens.

Did something happen to you in your childhood to give you this unreasonable fear of rutabaga?
Banned Pokemon game? Can't say I've heard of that. Any info?
Let me see if I remember.
It's a hack game of Pokemon Red/Blue/Green called CreepyBlack (I think) and you start out with a Pokemon called Ghost and throughout the game you kill people and Pokemon with Ghost and at the end of the game you see all the beings you killed and face Ghost in a battle, ultimately dying at the end. They say it was mildly creepy and it's banned because they tried to sell it I believe.
As of the creepiest game I've ever played. I've played Amnesia: The Dark Descent and Justine (I think that is how you spell it.)

So what games, old or new, have scared or creeped you out? Why?
Mother 3 also creeped me out, since it has such a dark story compared to the other 2.
For example, the infamous Ravenholm:

...
I of course mean this sarcastically.
My DeviantArt, so sexy
That game was creepah.
It messed with my poor computer. ;~;
Also Ju On the Grudge.
Creepeh.
I have the first Dino Crysis. My first 'M' rated game I've played, IIRC. Creepy, metal warehouses waiting for dinos to come tear your face off... oah!
Amnesia was less creepy, but it was executed wonderfully.
imscared...I'm still to scared to download that...

Hello.
Banned Pokemon game? Can't say I've heard of that. Any info?
Three words:
Ravenholm, and Fast Zombies
The moody darkness, the scent of death and psychopathy, and the creepy silence, they all gave me the chills every time I entered a new test chamber.
Let me see if I remember.

I don't play too many modern horror games, so I can't really say which ones are creepy.
