Slender, urban terror and battle field 1942 those are games that people play at school and yet they suck to me
I'm not familiar with the last 2. However, I definitely don't consider Slender a masterpiece, though it's rather useful for making people jump out of their skin.
Where do I start.
First of all, I'd like to say that I actually find Minecraft quite good. It's not that I hate it or something. It's just... overrated as hell.
When Minecraft was created it was quite cool. It was completely new. and back when Minecraft was unknown, Notch would take people's requests and update the game frequently.
The problems started when Minecraft became more popular. As Minecraft became more popular, Notch went from a normal guy to a rich guy with a sky-high income. This wouldn't be a bad thing on its own. However, Notch apparently became money hungry. The price of Minecraft increased, and the full verison was released as quickly as possible. When the full version was out, it was full of bugs and lots of features he promised to be there, were still lacking. Ever since, everything is about money for Mojang. Look at the Xbox version: basically the same as the PC version, except with even more bugs and even less features. The xbox version was only designed to make money. As was the Pocket version. And the Minecraft app. Development? Hardly. A year after the full release, many bugs are still present and there are hardly any new features. And currently, it's the unpaid modders who do Mojang's work. They are currently the ones who are still developing the game, even though they don't make any profit.
Don't get me wrong, it's not that I hate the game. It's just that it doesn't deserve to be as popular as it is. The developers don't deserve to be treated as gods. And trust me, it's just a matter of time before someone else comes along with a better product because Minecraft simply doesn't deliver.it.
Eh, I tend to ignore the new features, the only reason I play Minecraft is redstone. You also can't really relate the PC version and the 360 version in terms of development. To me it seems Mojang is focused on pumping out the updates as quickly as possible, whereas 4J take their time, go through a lot more testing, and ultimately release an update with less bugs. From what I've seen and heard from various people, MCXBLA only has a fraction of the PC's Beta counterpart's glitches.
Mojang relies heavily on the players "beta-testing" through snapshots, saving them gobs of resources and money. 4J doesn't have this option, they personally test the patches, which then go to Microsoft to be tested again. Bugs still make it through, but this is to be expected. Obviously a group of maybe 50 people aren't going to find the amount of bugs that millions of players are bound to uncover. Then players report this bug here on the forums (which 4J is actually a part of, *hint hint nudge nudge* Mojang) or to the 4JStudios Twitter account. Then, they pinpoint the issues and release a bugfix patch.
A game with this much freedom, that is evolving constantly, is bound to have a ton of problems. I don't think for this reason alone it should be considered overrated. After all, I could easily say this is one the best sandbox games released to date. The only sandbox game I personally consider to be better is Dwarf Fortress. Which, on the other hand, is an extremely underrated game. If you think Minecraft is a game which is foolishly looked over for low-res graphics, you should take a look at the diamond in the rough that is Dwarf Fortress.

Battlefield 1942 was amazing for it's time.
I think it's only overrated amongst 13-17 year olds. Nobody older actually thinks much of Runescape or thought much of it when it was popular.
