The thing is I know there is a good amount of people who will join it and will maintain it.This time around I will also try to be slightly more realistic regarding things that happened.

It really depends.PoW is pretty big, and I probably wouldn't be able to write the amount that you guys usually do.
Although if you could give me a idea of whats open, and anything I should read to get a idea of whats going on I will look into joining PoW

Quite a bit of the world is open, I'd have an easier time listing the nations currently in play: China, Spain, France, Germany, Ethiopia, Armenia, and Georgia. However, at the age PoW's at (roughly three years old, with about ten years of lore), there not many "untouched" nations and a few nations have had their lore canonized. Those being: Canada, The US, Brazil, Russia, United Kingdom, India, Ottoman Empire, Persia, Sweden, Finland, Poland, etc. Some of the Canon states can be reclaimed by their former masters too if they ever bother to return.
And then to complicate things you have a lot of states within the the Sphere of Influence of others: like Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Eastern Russia, Novogord, Finland, Mexico, and Philippines to China, and given how PoW works I - as China - can have some manner of control over these nations, though I cede control of them to a player character, though it's expected there's an understanding on what's what when someone goes to join.
And the lore is a complex beast at best. There's whole matters best explained on a case-by-case basis. But the general gist is:
World War 1 dragged on magically and ended inconclusively with only a few borders redrafted: France reclaimed Alscae-Lorraine and Colonial Africa was changed. The events of WW2 also killed off figures important to the real world's Second World War and drained the ability for the European Nations to really bother with another Great War.
Stuff happened and The RP officially opened in 1970 when it was a thread on the Spore Forums. In the years of 1970 through 1971 the Ottoman Empire experienced a rebirth and it could be said that at that time there was serious thought they would no longer be the sick, crippled man of Europe. They reconquered Armenia and Georgia. As well, the Empire claimed the Northern half of Egypt with their allies in Ethiopia.
In the Americas, the US was split when rebels in the south grew tired of Washington and decided to declare independence. This was originally Florida but is to be shifted to the entire south as a sort of Second CSA. The war weakened the US's ability who had already been lagging behind from their isolationist policies. Canada was asked to help out, but they ended up betraying the US and sparking the North American War. In this conflict, the US lost Alaska to Canada, although Canada lost British Columbia and Victoria to oil and lumber barons who decided they didn't want to ansewer to the government of Jaret Arnold anymore.
In Asia, China under Hou Sai Tang went around pretty much booting Europe out of Asia. Which wasn't hard since the French didn't care and the British were in a state of anarchy. The Chinese took Tibet, reclaimed Taiwan from the Japanese Empire, and helped a Revolutionary usurp half of Siberia when the czar died in the winter of 1971. Also stuff happened in India, but that's all silly stuff, but canonized all the same.
Stuff also happened in Europe, like Spain becoming a big thing. And the former alliance that could have rivaled the then-Chinese-led Asian Socialist Bloc - the Central Eurasian League - also fell apart when its two member states, France and Prussia and Germany went to war with each other, severly questioning the authority of the CEL if it can't control itself, and ultimately blowing it up. Turkey also took over half of Italy.
By the time it was booted over here, the world went to 1975-'76 and jumped to 1980. We see it now in its current form; The US is reunited - save for Alaska - and its reformed itself to counter any percieved Canadian threats. A rise in Brazilian power in South America had caused an political interest in being more anti-hispanic, which is an official policy with the election of 1980. Though, this has met with resistance from the Chinese and the Comintern given it threatens and offends Mexico, a member of the Comintern as the US was. Current events going on there will lead to me writing the US off as having officially left the Comintern and back to pre-70's Isolationism as Tempest was driving for; also anti-Latino policies as a reaction to growing Brazilian power.
New England also rebelled in '75 and was independent for five years before debt boiled up and they were convinced to rejoin the US with the election of James Harrison as US president in 1980. Though the initial decleration of independence resulted in the Second North American War which saw America beating Canada badly and the anti-Socialist spaniards, though it also saw the introduction of VX with those Canadian oil-barons using it on Seattle, killing roughly 99% of the city's population and leading to the annexation of the splintered Canadian nation - The North Western Coalition - by the US as the territories of Cascadia.
China also went to space, Brazil basically has South America in its back pocket, Spain has a zombie pathogen and own north-western Africa, and Ethiopia owns all of central Africa.
Or we all forget about it as a collective.
Or you could join and support PoW.
