Isn't a meme, but this new internet trend of calling something and everything "edgy" is absolutely idiotic. The proof lies in that most people can't even use the term properly.
On a technicality, everything here is a meme. The computer is a meme, the internet is a meme, the words we're using are a meme. Same applies to the clothes we wear, music we listen to, and so on and so forth.
A meme is an idea. A particularly successful idea.
OT: I don't normally hate memes, but what I do hate is people jumping on bandwagons. For example, Gangnam Style. I found that song to be quite cheesy at first, but when EVERYONE STARTED MAKING GANGNAM SPIN-OFFS, it got really, really, really overdone to the point that I'm sick of that song.
Just like when r/adviceanimals had a bunch of people randomly confessing their sins using confession bear. Like really? Confessing is a bandwagon now?
Regardless as to the terminology, among the items in the list, Gangnam Style is definitely the most annoying to me.
I live in South Korea too, 7 floors above 3 bars, and 2 more floors down on the ground are a ton of bars and Norebang. Before it got too cold for me to open window, every night when my window was open I heard parts of it from one of the bars or norebang at least 5 times. Students at school would ask me "Teacher, do you know Psy?!" ~.~
Thankfully, it's died down a lot in the past 2 months.
I don't get this one. It's nonsensical and came outta nowhere and it's just... Wat? >_>
Most annoying meme for me as a mod is naturally Herobrine. There is none other that is a bigger thorn in my side. I litterally want to behead small cutesy stuffed animals with my bare hands every time I see one and heard the "defence" HE'S REAL! I SAW HIM! LOOK AT THIS PROOF! *Links to debunked fake images and videos or Herobrine mod reviews*.
Wouldn't care if they kept to themselves and left everyone else alone, But i can't go into a TF2 match without sprays and pony name tagged weapons everywhere

Ponies themselves aren't a meme, they're just something that's really (annoyingly) popular. There are memes within that but most are ripped off something else.
Me? Arrow to the knee has always been the worst, but memes ares something that can work well if executed right... of course, since that never happens, they become overused, unoriginal and generally stupid.
Also, if you count trolling as a giant meme (it generally consists of that) then I'd say that's worse because the people behind the trolling are generally stupid and funnily enough, not actually trolling. Especially when they start pointing it out like 'hurr durr i trol u'
I still think there is some manner of subliminal messaging involved in MLP.
Bandwagon / underdog "special" fringe group thinking, or a base part of it being so appealing to such a large demographic is just uncommon.
The main part that gets me, is not its popularity directly, its how its utilized. It defines people. They brandish it everywhere they go. Forum avatars, 4chan reaction images, entire threads, signatures, everywhere. And such a high prevalence of externalization is a very key thing, and the main curiosity of it all. Its also a major factor accounting for its rapid proliferation, and the force behind it all.
The nyan cat is the most annoying in my opinion.
Hands down.
