Slimes should have more meaning. Instead of spawning in random areas close to bedrock, they should spawn in liquid, flowing, slime.
The slime spring blocks would appear just as lava or water springs generate in caves, but only in lower areas. Liquid slime spawns small slimes, and when a small slime sits in the liquid slime, it will grow over time.
Slime balls can be crafted into a block that is green and translucent (looks similar to the liquid slime). The block has interesting properties, such as low friction, and high restitution, making it bouncy.
Perhaps the liquid slime can be picked up with a bucket, and placed wherever you want it.
but make it rare-ish..
maybe as rare as a diamond...
just because it seems right...
I don't really have anything to back that up with, but it just seems right...
interesting... use those blocks 2 make a lving slime or go freinkinstien connect redstone 2 it and get a living small slime feen it slime blocks and u got a slime helper to defeat enemies
how about slimes act the same way but slime balls make a block slippery and makes them spawn medium slimes (1 every 4 seconds) or if thrown into water turns water into what was shown above. on top of that if a mob is hit by a slime ball that mob turns into a slime its self (respective to its size).
You have me interested. I like the idea of slimes spawning from slime veins as opposed to just spawning. It's also very interesting how they grow by absorbing or soaking in the slime liquid instead of degrading with each attack.
My only question is, what can be done to prevent slime farming? (ie, someone just sits there and farms slimes the instant they appear, and does this until they have a myriad of slimeballs)

I love it. I think when you stand on the slime block, though, you should bounce at regular jump height until you move off of it, but if you jump off of it, you would get an extra jump boost.
As for the slippery idea someone mentioned, I'd like it if you could just place slime balls on the ground (similarly to redstone) and that would make the ground slippery, like walking on ice.
Also: Would you be able to scoop up the liquid slime with a bucket? It seems like that could make it a little too easy to farm the slimes, but it would be a little odd to be un-scoop-up-able.
I like the idea of the slime stream but think a simple pool would make more sense.
Could use the Lava Lake code but at smaller sizes and less frequent.
But either way, your idea and effort deserve some diamond
Dude! That's an amazing idea! Doo Eet Notch! Do Eet!
But I imagine lava would just burn it, and water may just dilute it?
Argh, I want this to go through so much! XD

Above-ground Lava spawns: often an unpleasant surprise
Muncher is usually the one who can accurately tell how this will fit into the game, and the likeliness that Notch/Mojang would pick this idea up. I like it, because it kind of makes a new dungeon-like addition to the game, a slime flow that generates slimes, which can, from what I know, be bucketed up and relocated.
Also, is that a new item ID you are using in the slimeflow screenshot, or were you able to change the color of the lava itself? Because in all honesty, there are a lot of people who don't know how to do that.
I like this. I'm sure the slime protection agency (or whatever they are called) would like this as well. They would probably make slime safe houses that resemble the slimes 'natural habitat' XD
Anyways, if this is added I can see myself using it for building.
Questions:
1) Would it make infinite springs like water does?
2) How far would it flow? (5 blocks?)
3) Would it be luminescent?
4) Would it turn any cobblestone it encounters into mossy cobblestone?
5) How long would it take for a slime to 'grow' when it touches the liquid slime?
The slime spring blocks would appear just as lava or water springs generate in caves, but only in lower areas. Liquid slime spawns small slimes, and when a small slime sits in the liquid slime, it will grow over time.

Comments? Thoughts?

edit:
what happens when it hits lava?

I guess it would just be absorbed by any other liquid that comes in contact with it.
