ATI users who are unable to play /indev/: Read this!

Postby Quatroking » Mon Feb 08, 2010 9:38 pm

I tried out a few things, and I found out that the only working ATI driver is currently 9.9.

http://www.oldapps.com/ati.php?old_ati_drivers=98

Downgrading from 10.1 to this version worked perfectly for me, and I'm now able to play /indev/ without any problems. (minus a few minor graphical glitches which do not affect gameplay at all) Simply start the installer, choose to deinstall your current drivers and once that's done start the installer again and this time you install the actual drivers. This should work without any problems, but you'll have to see for yourself. For me it worked, and to me thats what counts.

EDIT:
some people have mentioned that 10.1 works fine after the OpenAL update. However, some still have problems after the OpenAL update and fixed their problems using 9.9. Try updating your drivers to 10.1 first, and if that doesn't work, downgrade to 9.9!

Thats strange. Even with the audio update, 10.1 didn't work for me. What card do you run?

I think I've got 10.1, too. It works for me better than ever before.

I'm really getting confused here. I'm running an HD3650, maybe the error depends on cards?

I'm running a HD4650

10.1 didn't work, sound update didn't work

had to downgrade to 9.9 and now it runs, but a lot of my other games are acting weird now... it works, but this isn't a good permanent fix

Does it cause any other effects such as lessened graphic power or something?

It won't do anything, if you have problems you may want to keep a updated version handy.

It's not like a super old driver.

It slightly reduces the graphics in Minecraft, but once you play the game for a while you won't even notice.

I haven't had any problems with other games so far.

Same here.
Radeon HD 4770. Didn't work on 9.12 (or kinda), so according to this thread (ofc...) I updated to 10.1
It's good. Seems to fix the problem with newer cards. :D

Everything seemed to be fine for me after the OpenAL update. 10.1 cats on a 4870 here.
For those of you still having problems with 10.1, maybe try the hotfix version? http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pa ... tions.aspx

I tried installing the 9.9 driver to fix my crashing problem and it didn't work.
Instead of randomly crashing, I crash every time I take two steps.
This only made my problem worse.
