This mod restores the leaf decay mechanism that was removed in the Halloween update. If your worlds contain any floating leaf clumps from trees that were harvested before this mod was installed, you may need to give those leaves a little encouragement to kick off the decaying process.
1) Open %appdata%/.minecraft/bin
2) Make a backup of minecraft.jar
3) Open minecraft.jar with WinRAR
- Drag and drop km.class and fe.class into the archive
- Delete the META-INF folder if it exists
4) Close WinRAR
v3
- Now compatible with Minecraft version 1.2.3_02
- Might be compatible with more Macs
v2
- Uses custom algorithm: leaves decay if they are not connected to a solid object within 4 blocks
- Big Trees are modified so one log is placed in the middle of large leaf groups
v1
- Initial release compatible with Minecraft version 1.2.2
- Uses original leaf decay algorithm (some problems noticed with leaves decaying too early)

This mod just made my night in Minecraft! I ran outside my base, which is right next to a pretty large rainforest. There are saplings all over the place. It was like Easter and I was running around trying to find all the goodies! I got over 70 saplings before they started to despawn.
so simple and yet so necessary... its a pain having to destroy every single leaf one by one and in my case, i live nest to a rain forest, so flint and steel is not an option (unless i want to destroy the whole forest)
I was hoping someone would do this. Pruning my tree farm for saplings has been a time-consuming chore since leaves stopped dying. This little gem should set things straight again. Thanks! :biggrin.gif:
While obviously well meant, this mod seems a little too hungry for leaves. My trees decay before my very eyes without me even touching them They didn't do this before the halloween update. Perhaps you have it only checking for leaves touching logs to survive? I think leaves could survive so long as they were 3 or 4 (or 5?) meters distant from logs, so long as the spaces between the leaf block and the log was also occupied by leaves?
I'd love to have the decaying leaves back, but this is too hungry for my foliage.
What? That was intentional? Then thank you very much!!
That really, REALLY, anoyed me :]
Actually, it didn't work
Why I can't play with any mods? It's because I deleted that META INF folder?
I want this and Ambient occlusion SO MUCH
Someone help me please :C

Well done.
(I will resist them temptation to throw it into minecraft_server.zip just to watch it explode and die... I will... resist...)
I thought it was unintentional..
No, it was intentional. He just removed it temporarily while he finds a better way to have leaves decay.
Nice work
nicely done
i can't think of a better way for leaves to decay.
Did you remember to remove the META-INF folder from minecraft.jar?
Yup. I'm using the Occlusion mod, and biome mod.
