Guess it isn't so small anymore. Mothercraft will be a project of changing a lot in Minecraft to fit the Earthbound style. I need dem thoughts.
Goal: Keep updated with Mother related content for Minecraft.
Current Update:
R20:
-Made the iron ore more noticable
-Reverted the cobblestone, the brown just makes more sense in the end..
-Actually put some transparency on the ice and water because i'm dumb and never fixed this glaring issue
-Workbench is now "sort of" transparent. Its just something to mess with the eyes. Better than what it was, honestly.
-CLOUDS! Surprisingly, they mess up in Fancy Mode, but not enough to ruin it 100%. In Fast mode its fine, looks neat. Watch out for those Pink Clouds, even I haven't seen one overhead yet.
-Boats now look more like the ships in Summers
-Carts look like the buses to an extent (The skin doesn't like some customization, but it has similar features)
-Clay, Slimeball and Cart item icons look better
-Glass is made simpler so its easier to see through
-Gold Armor is completed
-Furnace gui is fixed
-Signs are fixed so there's no odd transparencies when you place them on the ground
-White flower has been switched with bushes. Red flowers on 32x32 are now a compilation of red and white
-Cacti 100% fixed, no more wierd issues
-Fixed Worthless Protoplasm to look better
-Ice is changed to be lighter than the water in 32x32 and its transparency isn't as clear, so it looks a bit more frozen
R17.5:
-Fixed Low Res terrain's cactus problem
R17:
-Torches are now Lightbulbs
-Switches Have a color palette similar to the Mr. Saturn ribbon
-Runaway Dog now has a higher resolution skin
-Smilin' Sphere now has a higher resolution skin
-Gruff Goat now has a higher resolution skin
-Mad Duck now has a higher resolution skin
-Blue Cows now have a similar face to the one in the game, also removing horns
-Cobblestone is now black, as the original color was too similar to dirt
R16:
-Paintings
-Terrain changes
Coming Next?: The minor stuff. Particles, sounds, changing music, fixing runaway dog, try to make protoplasm look better. That sort of thing. Touch up work.

Some are rips yeah. I say that because honestly some of the sprite rips don't actually fit. Like the doors. The steel doors were 1 pixel too wide and 2~3 pixels too short. Most floor tiles are angled so I had to make non-angled varieties. Trees and cacti were too thin so I used the original texture but colored it using Earthbound's palette. I should go and fix the water and do something about the lava.
I'll keep this updated about once a day. I have a lot of other things I do, but i'll work on making this completed: terrain, gui, monsters and all.
Ah, yeah. For weapons, i'm thinking of the following:
Normal Bat, Frying Pan, Sword, Larger Bat. Not sure which exact weapons to pick out of whats in-game but it shouldn't be too hard. Also, i'm considering making new armor as well to fit the setting as well (Instead of helmet, armor, pants, shoes it'll be Head, Body, Arms, and Other). Probably the best perk out of that is that people who wear armor will see more of their skin than, you know, a wall of gray or whatever. I'm planning on working on skins last though, I want the terrain, gui, items etc done first.
Being the insomniac I am, I've stayed up all night putting together a sound pack to go with the skin.
I've replaced a lot of the sounds, and even replaced the ambient music with the Onette, Twoson, and Threed (Post zombies) themes. Too bad music is disabled in infdev at the moment.
I think this is what you need for it. I'm watching something right now, so i'll give it a shot later. I checked a few sounds, seems pretty awesome. If it works i'll definitely throw it up on the main post, I want that sort of feel.
EDIT: Ah, I should've assumed you went that far. Isn't working, not sure whats up. Doublecheck the program you're using to make the .ogg files, or if you didn't make them find some other ways. Also, after extracting, I tried playing the sound for the door and being hurt and it wouldn't let me play it. Not sure why. Maybe its just me.
EDIT 2: Nope. I reinstalled your sound file and the beeps etc worked when clicking. Load Minecraft, sounds stop despite being on, and the beeps dissapear too. I think there's a problem with some of the files.
It was what you were using. I just made all of your .wavs into .oggs and it works. My only issue? I want to go through the sounds personally and pick what fits. Some I don't think work well, but you used what you had. Of course, there's better explosion sounds etc. once this early version is finished uploading i'll put it on the first post. Thanks for the idea, credit given.
I should mention that I feel dumb for downloading 100MB of M3 sprites for the item icons just to find out that its a garbled mess. Give me some time on items, i'd rather use M3's because well...they're already made. I may have to play around with some things though, but still. Ticked me off when I found out that it was a garbage dump, the sprites are completely ripped apart...
Some changes with the sound include me removing the hurt stuff from passive mobs. Why? Well, for some reason Notch didn't want to put in something like "cowdeath.ogg" or "pighurt.ogg" or "sheepdeath.ogg" or "sheephurt.ogg", so when you hit a cow it sounds like a battle. When you hit a pig (which is the same type of mob) it'll do something differently and it makes no sense. Doing it to keep it clean. Slime sounds will be changed though, but just being hit etc.
I'll keep working on those item sprites though, i'll get it done.
EDIT: Derp, Starmen.net had a section on the items and pictures. Already made the weapons, some of the food stuff etc. I'm trying to make some variety, not just color, so bear with me.
I'm probably going to need some suggestions for mobs. Some are sort of in the air.
Zombie -> Obviously Threed Zombies
Creeper -> ...? Anything that explodes in Earthbound really
Pig -> Runaway Dog perhaps, suggestions are open though
Cow -> Blue cow from Happy Happy Village
Slime -> Another in the air one. Foppy or Little Slimes. I'm leaning towards Foppy though, but Slime also makes sense.
Skeleton -> No idea. Maybe the robots in Fourside building?
Sheep -> Gruff Goat maybe...don't know right now.
I wonder what'll be in the update that i'll have to work on.
Well, at any rate, items are done enough to start getting to the artwork and mobs. Artwork will consist of in-game artwork and some in-game snapshots probably. I think that'll be done over the course of... a long time maybe. So there's enough pictures. Mobs will take a while but not too long. I'm probably going to make the creeper one of the robots since it would look odd as a tree. Slimes will be pukes etc. Skeletons will be last I think so I can figure out what to do with them.
Starting to finish up with the first runthrough of changes, after this it'll be keeping things fresh etc. I only wish more people would comment.
I guess I can have a look, possibly make an alternate skin.
EDIT: I WAS going to release a sound pack but it seems Notch killed the idea of changing sounds for now...ugh. sounds work again it seems, awesome. Will be releasing a big pack in a little bit with mobs and sounds. Dogs will sound like pigs for now, but will obviously change that.
EDIT2: Just started on mobs. Creepers are now Smilin' Spheres. Why? Because for one, the head works: Its a bit off the ground so if I remove the rest of it its floating...and they explode. Died to one a little while ago. Was satisfying.
Cows are the blue cows and chickens are Mad Ducks. I wanted to do Spiteful crow but...well, I can keep trying but the head is only four pixels wide. Yeah, not much to work with. Pig is now Runaway Dog...will work more on it tomorrow. For now, I sleep.
And the cow is just a recoloring since it was a cow anyways. Wat.
Uh...i'll look into that. From the screen it seems that the graphics are pushed to the side (See: the huge hole on top). Like I said, I just made black blue, white black etc.
I just checked in-game and the skin isn't lopsided for me. Did you do something with them other than just dumping them?
I was strolling through all the reskins and thinking that they were all very nice, but I don't like any of them enough to use them. Then I saw this topic. :happy.gif: I love Mother!! I'm totally up for playing some Mother skinned Minecraft! Wooot!

Life is enjoying and savoring every breath, every cloud, every raindrop, every stubbed toe, and every smile. Taking in world around you taking the time to truly care about each and every one of them in that moment.

Anyway, well done, the rips are nice.
I'll keep this updated about once a day. I have a lot of other things I do, but i'll work on making this completed: terrain, gui, monsters and all.
You should replace the swords with different bats, and the bow and arrows with a slingshot and pebbles.

Here's the download for it.

EDIT: For some reason the sound cuts out for me whenever I try to use the pack, if anyone can help/explain, I would greatly appreciate it.
Here are the WAVs I converted into OGGs if it's any help.

By the way, here's where I got the sounds if you need them.

Yeah, that's what I've been using. Props for it by the way.
