Replace 100 blocks of water with another block (Excluding lave, fire, other water and air blocks)
Adaptation: Hint to secret Sponge recipe
What do you think?

Why stop at the melee? Just admit (Halo) Reach itself was a mistake. It is, really. The Hindenburg was less broken than this.

Lol I actually like it. I'll add this with a revision or addition.
Now You're Thinking With Portals
Have 2 surface portals both link to a single nether portal. No reward.
Construct 50 portals on the surface. Adaption: You can now build compact portals (3x4 instead of 4x5)
Have a Ghast turn on a portal. Adaption: Ghast fireballs no longer disrupt portals.
Build 100 portals from within the Nether. Adaption: Redstone can be used in place of fire to activate portals (and also deactivate them)
If any of those wouldn't be possible, then I suppose it could replaced with 'Reward: 10 Obsidian.' to help make another portal.
Taking the Fight to Them
Destroy 5 mob spawners. No reward.
Destroy 10 mob spawners. Reward: 64 arrows.
Destroy 25 mob spawners. Reward: Diamond Sword (or iron if you think diamond is to unbalanced.)
Destroy 50 mob spawners. Adaption: Mob spawners drop placable mob spawners when destroyed.

Thanks for posting. Those are some good ideas! I'll be sure to incorporate them in some way. Keep thinking of more!
This chain is meant to kind of take the place of a leveling system.
I doubt it would work, and its pretty much a mod on its own. Just something I thought was cool.

avid aviator: spend an accumulative total of 10 seconds in flight
reward: the ability to glide
and something more retarded....
LOL,69 : have 69 of an item in a single item slot
reward: increased maximum capacity by 5
That second one can only be gotten if you already have that achievement. Max stack size is 64. This would be impossible to obtain without a mod that increases the stack size, in which case the extra space would be useless, since you're already using a most that does more then that. As for the first one, I like it.
These are vapid, grindy, and encourage no amount of creativity or exploration. All they encourage is doing something stupid over and over until it becomes ridiculous. That is not a challenge. That is not hard to do. The only thing that tests is your patience for repetitive and unrewarding behavior. "Kill 500 spiders with your bare hands"? Really? "Break 500 smooth stone with your bare hands"? What the hell is the point of that? Why would anyone do that, ever? It takes what, five seconds to do that? So someone is going to stand there for more than 40 minutes just punching stone just to get some hamfisted achievement.
What about such gems as "Drown 100 times"? 100 times. And it gives such a good reward, people are just going to keep respawning and throwing themselves into the water 100 times. Does that honestly seem fun to you? Is that what comprises a good game?
All these achievements reward you for is sinking ungodly amounts of time into goals that are utterly unproductive in the first place. They don't promote inventiveness, or actual challenge, they just promote RSI.
I guess it's just as well this mod will never get made, because these ideas take the already dull idea of "achievements you just get after enough time", then completely removes them from things you would actually do under normal circumstances.
okay, so here's my new tier for the aviator achievements:
like a penguin: accumulate 10 seconds in flight.
concrete bird: accumulate 20 seconds in flight, breaking 1 piece of armor while doing so.must be done consecutively without dying.(this will be IMPOSSIBLE to complete if you finish halfwing's achievement flight tier first.plan ahead!)
and from here it breaks into two tiers, the first one having you to concentrate on flying whilst the second one having you to do damage whilst doing so. obviously, the second one is harder.also,
TIER ONE(destructive):
boeing 747: accumulate 40 seconds in flight whilst killing 10 mobs consecutively.
hiroshima veteran: accumulate 80 seconds in flight , killing at least 5 mobs using TNT. (its possible, but you need a lot of luck. or timing.) reward: while in mid-air , right click while holding tnt to instantly ignite it and drop it underneath you.
TIER TWO(pure flight)
like an eagle : accumulate 70 seconds of flight, 10 of which spent going upwards.
avid aviator: spend 50% of a minecraft day flying.
i fart rainbows: spend 10 or more seconds flying, 50% of the time going upwards and 50% downwards(again, this could be disrupted by halfwing's flight tier).
reward:jumping off the ground causes a colorful pushback force, and landing causes a colorful pull force(to you).
Forest Pup: Grow 25 Saplings to full height. No reward.
Forest Bear: Grow 75 Saplings to full height. (All saplings grow at +50% speed)
Forest God: Grow 200 Saplings to full height. (One sapling is unlimited)
Forest Titan: Grow 500 Saplings to full height. (Destroy leaves 80% faster with bare hands, Saplings grow w/o light)
>___> sounds so lame...Uhh...Huh.
Or...I guess...
Pyro-Wannabe: Light 30 things (Mobs/Blocks/Whatever) on fire. (No Reward)
Pyro-Apprentice: Light 100 things on fire. (Fire lasts +30% longer on a single block)
Pyro-Master: Light 750 things on fire. (You can choose if fire will spread or not)
Pyro-Eccentric: Light everything on fire!! [You'll need alot of flint and iron] (Ability to summon the flames of HELL) {Obviously to burn your enemies to death!}
Bleh. I'll just..leave...with my last few scraps of dignity...

I respond to your unproductive rant with four things. Take them however you please.
1.) You can help improve the mod (which apparently needs much improvement) by suggesting some good achievements rather than saying "just stop making this. bla bla bla".
2.) If you're not willing to help improve it, keep in mind that you are not required to use this mod.
3.) The large majority of people that actually WANT to use this mod (note the word "want" instead of being forced to use it) voted that they would rather have long-term achievements rather than short, simple ones that don't require a time sink.
4.) If you despise time sinks, why do you play Minecraft? Sandbox games are intentional time sinks.
It's sad I'm giving a flamer more attention than the supporters of the mod.

Just keep thinking of new ones. You'll think gold one of these times! And, at least you make humorous remarks afterwards. :smile.gif:

What about the Jukebox? I dont know in order of tiers or any names but :
First time crafting a Jukebox
First time playing a record
Getting the green/yellow record
and geting the same record 1 time
You gus might come up with better ones
Same to you, keep brainstorming. We need more creative achievements!
Quote from Verihyypp »
I say that all of them should be hiden, so you can see only their names.
No explanations so they come when you play. You can only know them via this thread or something else.
Here is my little list
Some of these achievements could be great for the shitload of achievements list.

Actually, he's got some valid points. A lot of the achievements seem to have shifted from "actual things you'd have to work for" into "do a random, counter-intuitive action 500 times -> receive bacon."

It is the equivalent of saying
"We should add drug trafficking to the game to attract more Mexicans. I'm not saying that I'm racist, it is just that most Mexicans traffic drugs."
I agree with that. All of these achievements are things that are completely and utterly pointless. Drown yourself 100 times. Now, lets take this into consideration. You run out of air after 15 seconds. If you aren't on peaceful, I think its somewhere from 15-30 seconds to actually drown. I think its 20 seconds. So 15+20 = 35 seconds to drown. 35*100 = 3500 seconds, or about 59 minutes. That is one hour. NOT including the time it takes to get to the water source after dying. Would ANYONE do this just to get infinite air? I sure as hell wouldn't. Perhaps you can change this to something like "Spend 500 seconds underwater".
There are many more changes that I believe may be had.
- Let There be Light: change the 2000 torches to 1024(64*4=256, 256*4=1024, and its easier)
- Tower of Babel: Im not sure what the eternal fire thing is. But the 50 diamond thing is NOT worth it. Rather than a small chance of 2 diamonds, at least make it ALWAYS drop 2 diamonds. If the small chance were 10%, and you had to mine 50 ore to get it, you would have to mine another 45 ore just to get the 50 back. Not worth it.
- Hoarding: Some of these are a little extreme. Example: The lightstone one requires 64 lightstone blocks. 64 lightstone blocks requires 576 lightstone dust. 576! Jesus! Lower the limit to something like 32 lightstone blocks or 5 stacks of lightstone dust.. something like that.
- The Pacifist: I kinda like the idea of this one. I once met a person who never punched any trees in his worlds. If he got this mod he wouldn't have to.

I know he made points (and I did fix insane achievements accordingly (hopefully enough this time)), but he did so very aggressively. Not appreciated.

- Let There be Light: change the 2000 torches to 1024(64*4=256, 256*4=1024, and its easier)
- No Pain No Gain: Just remove the 500 smooth stone one. Seriously. It's pathetic. Possibly you could change the limit from 500 to 250 or some kind of downsize like that.
- Tower of Babel: Im not sure what the eternal fire thing is. But the 50 diamond thing is NOT worth it. Rather than a small chance of 2 diamonds, at least make it ALWAYS drop 2 diamonds. That you did. I edited the post to remove some things that you changed. The rest remains, though, and please take the extremities into consideration when adding new player-suggested achievement.s

There are probably some that are too hard and some that are too easy. Who's to say? You are (to some extent).
And...
Please note that more will probably be added. The list is definitely too small for me.
Spongebob Squareblocks

Adaptation: Hint to secret Sponge recipe
What do you think?
Lol I actually like it. I'll add this with a revision or addition.

Destroy 10 mob spawners. Reward: 64 arrows.
Destroy 25 mob spawners. Reward: Diamond Sword (or iron if you think diamond is to unbalanced.)

Thanks for posting. Those are some good ideas! I'll be sure to incorporate them in some way. Keep thinking of more!

and something more retarded....
LOL,69 : have 69 of an item in a single item slot

I doubt it would work, and its pretty much a mod on its own. Just something I thought was cool.

That second one can only be gotten if you already have that achievement. Max stack size is 64. This would be impossible to obtain without a mod that increases the stack size, in which case the extra space would be useless, since you're already using a most that does more then that. As for the first one, I like it.
I guess it's just as well this mod will never get made, because these ideas take the already dull idea of "achievements you just get after enough time", then completely removes them from things you would actually do under normal circumstances.
like a penguin: accumulate 10 seconds in flight.
concrete bird: accumulate 20 seconds in flight, breaking 1 piece of armor while doing so.must be done consecutively without dying.(this will be IMPOSSIBLE to complete if you finish halfwing's achievement flight tier first.plan ahead!)
and from here it breaks into two tiers, the first one having you to concentrate on flying whilst the second one having you to do damage whilst doing so. obviously, the second one is harder.also,
TIER ONE(destructive):
boeing 747: accumulate 40 seconds in flight whilst killing 10 mobs consecutively.
hiroshima veteran: accumulate 80 seconds in flight , killing at least 5 mobs using TNT. (its possible, but you need a lot of luck. or timing.) reward: while in mid-air , right click while holding tnt to instantly ignite it and drop it underneath you.
TIER TWO(pure flight)
like an eagle : accumulate 70 seconds of flight, 10 of which spent going upwards.
avid aviator: spend 50% of a minecraft day flying.
i fart rainbows: spend 10 or more seconds flying, 50% of the time going upwards and 50% downwards(again, this could be disrupted by halfwing's flight tier).
reward:jumping off the ground causes a colorful pushback force, and landing causes a colorful pull force(to you).
well, that was long.
Forest Pup: Grow 25 Saplings to full height. No reward.
Forest Bear: Grow 75 Saplings to full height. (All saplings grow at +50% speed)
Forest God: Grow 200 Saplings to full height. (One sapling is unlimited)
Forest Titan: Grow 500 Saplings to full height. (Destroy leaves 80% faster with bare hands, Saplings grow w/o light)
>___> sounds so lame...Uhh...Huh.
Or...I guess...
Pyro-Wannabe: Light 30 things (Mobs/Blocks/Whatever) on fire. (No Reward)
Pyro-Apprentice: Light 100 things on fire. (Fire lasts +30% longer on a single block)
Pyro-Master: Light 750 things on fire. (You can choose if fire will spread or not)
Pyro-Eccentric: Light everything on fire!! [You'll need alot of flint and iron] (Ability to summon the flames of HELL) {Obviously to burn your enemies to death!}
:smile.gif:
Same to you, keep brainstorming. We need more creative achievements!
Some of these achievements could be great for the shitload of achievements list.
Haha good! Can you explain how one gains seconds of flight? I'm confused a lil.
That sounds really cool actually. O_o
Actually, he's got some valid points. A lot of the achievements seem to have shifted from "actual things you'd have to work for" into "do a random, counter-intuitive action 500 times -> receive bacon."
Beat you to it. :tongue.gif:
That you did. I edited the post to remove some things that you changed. The rest remains, though, and please take the extremities into consideration when adding new player-suggested achievement.s
